Hmm i was curious , it came out to be mostly new york ...............i am English :)

Conartist1945 12-26-2013 06:11 AM

I came out at Boston, I live lest than 30 miles away

frenchfryqueen 12-26-2013 06:20 AM

Wow! This was right on the mark for me.

jhoward 12-26-2013 07:58 AM

I'm Mpls/StPaul..DesMoines/Madison, WI.....they have me pinned......I have lived in Minnesota all my life. : )

Geri B 12-26-2013 08:03 AM

Spot on in my case!

Wonnie 12-26-2013 08:26 AM

Great fun it way off course.

RugosaB 12-26-2013 08:47 AM

The map that showed my most similar, showed Toledo and Fort Wayne. I live just east of Toledo! Been here my whole life

hudgoddess 12-26-2013 08:57 AM

That was fun! I was born in Chicago, grew up in Wyoming and lived 25 years in Las Vegas. Didn't think anyone could pin me down!

oldtnquiltinglady 12-26-2013 09:16 AM

Mine was right for me, I reckon......I grew up in LA, and the picture showed me MS, AL, and AL. And I do say 18 wheeler, not big rig most of the time--we travel a lot. And if you can believe it, when I moved to TN, the people here said to me "You're not from around here, are you?" pretty often. But not anymore, I don't know why it showed pale on TN for me. I guess all Southerners speak basically the same language.

teacherbailey 12-26-2013 09:34 AM

Mine told me that I am from somewhere on the east coast; there was dark red (indicating that you speak a lot like people there) from Georgia out to the Midwest and up to New York state....and I was born, raised and living in the Atlanta, GA area!

Raine54RN 12-26-2013 10:02 AM

It nailed me right on for St Louis! Except also eEast coast. BUT my Mom and Aunt I speak to 2-3 times a week are East Coast! And I've been told I sound a little like them. How weird and fun!

Chasing Hawk 12-26-2013 10:23 AM

I am glad y'all liked the test.

Although I have lived in Oregon for the past 10 years my accent remains slightly southern.
I spent most of my adult life in Texas and several southern states.

My family gets a kick out of the way I talk. Some words come out strange...like oil, neighborhood. I say fixin' and crik (creek), move house instead of theater. The list goes on.

Happy New Year!!

Wintersewer 12-26-2013 10:31 AM

Spokane, WA, Salt Lake City, and Rochester, NY and I have never live in any of them. I am from central NY, 1+ hour from Rochester.

nativetexan 12-26-2013 10:32 AM

oh my goodness. I did it again, changed a few and had some new questions. I moved from Mississippi to Alabama and Greensboro this time!! further (or is that farther?) away from Texas. Go figure!! he, he.

Roberta 12-26-2013 11:01 AM

It got mine right. Born 15 miles north of Boston. I think it was the "sneakers", "sub" and "turnpike that gave me away even though I've lived in Maine longer then MA.

mamawalsh 12-26-2013 12:00 PM

This put me in Alabama ... which is correct ... but had me between Birmingham, Mobile, and Montgomery ... when I am about 2 hours NORTH of Birmingham ... pretty darn accurate if you ask me.

butterflies5518 12-26-2013 12:26 PM

How interesting. I'm from St. Louis but now living in Texas. I'm a home girl still.

I tried it too, despite never living anywhere other than Canada. It said Buffalo, NY, and Pembroke Pines and Fort Lauderdale, FL. (I'm guessing that's all the snowbirds. ;)) Washington was Dark red, and when we vacation there, we tend to feel at home.

Passionate Quilter 12-26-2013 03:21 PM

Thanks Chasing Hawk, such fun. My results were right on. I now live in Tn. but was a native born Detroiter and that is where they had me. I also drink Pop.

lots2do 12-26-2013 03:26 PM

Mine was right on. Am sending that to my cousin who used to live in Maine but has lived in Florida for years. Be interesting to see how she tests. Thanks!

Veronica 12-26-2013 03:51 PM

No doubt about it, Philadelphia.
Where I was born and raised.

0tis 12-26-2013 04:08 PM

I did that earlier - the area's that identified my language was where my mom and dad grew up - very interesting.

ILoveToQuilt 12-26-2013 06:45 PM

Boston, Providence (RI) and Yonkers (NY)...how true, how true!

Raised in NYC and moved to Boston where I lived for over 30 years. Don't know where the Rhode Island comes from?

Anita

Turnpike? Only the Mass Pike...more likely the Expressway or Rt 128! My vacation home is off of Rt 95...way up by exit 264!

I moved to Calif. in 1948 at the age of 5. This test pegged me right on to Milwaukee, WI where I was born. How can that be???????

Mine said either Portland/Vancouver, which is where I grew up, and Salt Lake City, that I have only visited a few times, but did not mention Tenneessee or Texas where I also lived for a time. The funniest thing is around Portland/Vancouver people always tell me I have a southern accent. My grandparents on one side were Texans, and Kentuckians on the other side.

I'm not American either and came out as a New Yorker too. Is this the biggest melting pot of language, I wonder?

ljptexas 12-27-2013 03:05 AM

That is amazing! It pin pointed exactly where I live! I was born in Topeka, KS but moved to Texas when about 2, living in central west Texas until married… Sure goin' to pass this one on...

kuntryquilter 12-27-2013 03:55 AM

This test tells me I am from Tempe, AZ. I have never been there. I was born in GA, lived there until age 18, have lived all over the USA since then, being a military family, but never lived in AZ.

Kris P 12-27-2013 06:39 AM

Mine was right on! Minneapolis/ St Paul area. Born and raised in Minnesota!

Seaside gal 12-27-2013 08:52 AM

Mine was Texas, never lived there, have only traveled through, and Florida, never been there. Only one close was VA.

BuzzinBumble 12-27-2013 09:11 AM

That was fun and also very accurate. This surprised me, because I thought I had a lot of variety in dialect from living and spending time in many different areas. Thanks for sharing. I sent the link to a few other people.

quiltingeileen 12-27-2013 09:33 AM

Very accurate for me! Thanks for sharing.

nancia 12-27-2013 01:58 PM

Wow, this is revealing! I think I'm a language disaster! I came out with Jackson, mobile and Tallahassee . All three are Deep South. I spent the first 26 yrs in New England , the next 24 yrs in texas ( Dfw), and the last 12 yrs in Pennsylvania. I guess I'm a linguistic fraud! Lol, i knew i was a mess! So much fun to take. Thanks.

leatheflea 12-27-2013 03:28 PM

Born and raised in Indiana, the map says I talk like a kentuckian. Could be that both my parents were born there. I've had people ask me what part of the south I come from. As a child the school system didn't like my southern draw and put me speech therapy. But to tell you the truth ya'll, I don't reckon it did one iota a good for me.

mrsjdt 12-28-2013 11:29 PM

I am amazed. I was born in Rochester, NY moving to upstate NY in my youth. In 1980 I traveled to NC and while shopping, a clerk asked me if I came from Rochester, NY. I answered yes, how did you know? She said my accent!

Abby'smom 12-29-2013 07:28 AM

Thank you -- my family really enjoyed the test -- we are all from the South -- me and my son from the Deep South and my husband from SE South -- this seems to reflect where our ancestors were from -- also it might reflect local tv and word choice of family and neighbors when growing up -- we enjoyed talking about results and the questions (some of the choices could be better) -- thanks again

mudose8 12-29-2013 07:53 AM

Mine was right on. SE Wisconsin, where I've always lived!

Neesie 12-29-2013 07:57 AM

It pegged my dialect as most like someone from the New Orleans, LA area . . . which just happens to be where I was born and raised!

joeyoz 12-29-2013 08:07 AM

It says I'm from Spokane or Boise. I live in Oregon.
