I go to Pinterest. There are a lot of good patterns there.

I googled Hairpin Lace and got directions for it. I am on my 5th afghan and love it. Can do this while riding in a car or on a bus trip. I am also going to try doing huck towelnig again. I did this in the early 1960's, when I mentioned it at my quilt club no one had even heard of it. I called JoAnn fabrics and they do have the toweling and they sell it by the yard. I will see if I can perhaps do a demo and furnish enough material so they can make something.

All the sites listed are great ones for patterns but I have not found a site like this one related to crocheting or knitting were members share information the way we do on this board.

Knitting Paradise is a great knitting/crochet forum like this one. Very helpful hints. As for patterns - your friend should google whatever it is she's interested in making. Some favorites are Ravelry, Lion Brand, RedHeart, Bernat, Bev's Country Cottage..........there's dozens and dozens.
