Our postman in Fairburn said the same thing they were not allowed to accept gifts. So we just did things when he was off work and at the neighborhood yule party. :-)

[QUOTE=Aubrey'sQuiltingCreations; I made a little package of breads and jellies to give to him and he ended up getting in trouble as the head postmaster here (who can be a real pain) said this was accepting bribes while on the job. So now we give them to him when not in his official vehicle. Even though he uses his own personal car for delivering mail.[/QUOTE]

I am retired from the Postal Service and if my memory serves me right, you are allowed to gift up to $25.00 without the employee having to turn it down. Now I retired in 97 so I may be wrong about this but am almost sure this is correct.

I believe the amount is $20, and no cash or cash-equivalent gifts.

We don't have just one carrier. We have several. I can't keep up with giving to them all.

There's that old "must be Politically Correct" again - Geez I'm sick of that one.

That is a stupid rule (wonder if it really is a rule) it's easy the mail carriers just shouldn't say they received anything. I give my mail carrier a small tin of cookies with a gift card in it for his favorite coffee place

You guys are lucky, we do not get service like that here, we are lucky if our mail is put in the correct boxes, i can see why you are so good to your mail carrier.

We haven't done it much in the past, but I'm planning on it this year! Our mail carrier is awesome! Not only does she drive slow in our neighborhood, which is appreciated by us parents of bike-riding kids, but she also delivers the mail to the correct addresses! Our address is EXACTLY the same as another house in our neighborhood, and our street name is the same as theirs, except they live on a "loop" and we live on a "street". I can always tell when she's on vacation because we get the neighbor's mail.

I retired two years ago from the USPS and the limit of $10.00 was implemented four years ago. I know this for a fact because the memo was sent to me as supervisor. We are giving our carrier his favorite CD and we paid more than $10 for it.
