The place my sister lives at is a residential area, but residential for Sisters, OR is rual. Her rental house sits on a deer trail and she gets deer, coons, skunk and other little critters. She puts apples out for the deer who come up onto the deck and look in the patio door or will approach the big bay window and wait to be fed. One even gave birth not to far from the house in the tall grass. She also feeds the coons and skunks. I keep trying to tell her there is a reason they are called wild animals and that is isn't very safe to feed them, especially when she lets them take food from her hand. They are fun to watch though.

A friend of mine fed Racoons everyday. It was fun to watch them come every night. About 20 of them They went through a big bag of dog food pretty quick. But they enjoyed doing it.

We live very suburban and had a racoon that used to come inside our house through our small cat door which is actually a stainless steel tunnel through the cinder blocks with the cat door on either side. If that wasn't enough to creep me out then he tried to drag a large bag of dry cat food out through the tunnel. What a mess!! I bought a container of dried coyote pee granuals on the internet to sprinkle around the cat door and the yard, even tho my neighbor said he'd pee around my yard for the money I put out for the granuals which I politely declined since I'm sure his pee wouldn't have the required scent. Sure enough, over time no more Rocky the racoon! He was cute, but not in my house!

LOL... at least we don't have a cat/dog door to worry about. I think Raquel would come in if given the chance so I have YELLED don't open the door if she is on the porch.
