I bought my DH one. He asked me to marry him and I said no, He said if you ever change your mind you will have to ask me, because I will never ask you again. He wanted to meet my mother and I just couldn't go to my mothers house without being married so I broke down and asked him. That will be 35 years ago on 9-11-10.

That's a new one to me. I know my DD picked out her own ring and showed it to Josh. He said he would decide if he wanted that ring for her and when. For Christmas that year she got a stuffed snowman with "her" ring tied to his scarf. He had actually bought the ring the day after she showed it to him. She loved it.

Sorry I just have to comment here. After cathy and i met about six months or so she said she wanted a "ring" for her Birthday present. I knew what she meant(engagement)! So I went out and got her a nice little nine diamond stone "anniversay ring" and gave that to her!! She was not as happy as if she had gotten the main one, but she liked it! The "real" diamond came about a year later give or take. That ring is now in the hands of her sister-in-law for nephew to give his "special girl" when he finds her. Her wedding bads are for Adrian wehn he finds his girl
