I've had company this weekend. Plus we had the burial yesterday with lunch afterward. They served hotdogs, chips & dip and chocolate chip cookies. I think either the hotdogs or the dip had msg because I ended up with a doozie of a migraine yesterday evening. My daughter and granddaughter are here today. So much for me finishing my Irish quilt top. I haven't worked on it since wednesday night. Friday I went shopping for an Easter dress for Allie. Couldn't decide so ended up with 2! LOL

Vanogay 03-24-2013 09:47 AM

Got on the scales - they appear to be stuck on one number. Need to weigh something else - the cat? Of course, they aren't going up, but definitely not going down. That's what, 3 months in a row. I'm doing something wrong here....

JuneBillie 03-24-2013 10:51 AM

I am here Cindy, and I think I am with it again. Anyway, I am trying really hard. lol.... I have been working on a pin cushion for a swap. Starting a new quilt for our bed, due to the fabric I was using. It was raveling every stitch. I think I have learned my lesson on that one. I took a chance on the fabric, but no more. I am using some nice fabric now. Had a good visit with my dad yesterday. He seemed a bit stronger. Have a great day everyone!

meanmom 03-24-2013 02:19 PM

I just got home from my quilt retreat. I had an awesome time. It is such a wonderful group of women. We join with another guild I think there were 55 of us. The women who cook are awesome, definately not diet friendly. I don't think I have eaten that many carbs in months. I decided not to take any classes because I have so many UFO's. There was a fractured quilt class I wanted to take but am kinda glad I didn't. She only told them how to do it and helped them but didn't give them a handout so they are all afraid they can't finish at home.
I got the center of my optical illusion quilt completed. I also finished putting together my Hoopsisters Goose Tracks quilt that has been laying in a corner for 2? years. I need to finish the back and bind it. I also mostly assembled some Heirloom quilt blocks I made 3? years ago. They have inset lace between them. I would have finished it but they are predicting up to 8 inches of snow today and we were way out in the country so we all flew out of there after lunch. I will try to post pictures later or tomorrow. I would have finished more but we did a lot of chatting and visiting. Hoping for a snow day tomorrow so I can recover. And do some more sewing.
Cindy I hope you are feeling better.
Pat

Mousie 03-24-2013 03:16 PM

Had some mint flavored Oreos today but I'm not worried about it.
I bought them for a get together and my dgd is allergic to some of the ingredients.
Granddaddy loves Thin Mints and these are just like those.
I'm sure when i go home he will have polished them off.
I will just go back to my high protein/low carb stuff tomorrow and keep on, keeping on

After menopause, I asked my primary doctor if she could say something positive about women's ability to lose weight after meno and this is what she told me to do:
Get one hour of cardio EVERY single day!
At first I couldn't believe my big mousie ears, but I was so desperate for something,...some kind of plan, that I look at it as 'if it works, then that's what I'll do'...I have to admit I have fallen off the wagon a bit, but I've got some other health issues going on and I am down a bit from the "fall off".
I have a machine in a guest room with a tv, which is the easiest way I have ever done this.
It's fab-U-lous!
I think if you keep at it, you probably don't have to do a whole hour but you will have to experiment and find out where your cut off/losing point is.
Not a doctor, so check with yours before taking any advice please ;)

Here are pictures of what I did on retreat. I decided not to take any classes and work on some UFO's. One is my Hoopsisters Goosetracks that has been laying in a pile in the corner of my sewing room for 2 years. It just needs binding and a hanging sleeve to complete it. The other is a work in progress for my optical illusion class I bought for myself with Christmas money. The colors don't show up very well but it is purple. I also got a lot of work done on an heirloom quilt I have been working on for years.

createfourpaws 03-25-2013 03:01 PM

Pat I love your goose tracks. I have the program and designs but haven't started it yet. I still need to finish the TNT.

Well I went to the doctors today, found out I have bronchitis. First time in 4 or 5 yrs I have had any lung infection. I was drinking Tazo Africian Red Bush tea and ran out about a month ago. Guess I will be getting me some more.

meanmom 03-25-2013 03:57 PM

Cindy I hope you feel better soon. What is the African tea. I have never heard of it. I love how the Goose Tracks came out. I also have done the Hoopsisters Whole Earth project. It needs some kind of border and binding.

createfourpaws 03-25-2013 04:18 PM

it is a tea I found about 4 yrs ago when I had a nasty cold and nothing was getting rid of it. I was turned on to it by Starbucks and now it seems that tazo is no longer making it. I guess I better find what I can now.

here are the ingredients: Tazo african red bush is a traditional tea from the plains of africa, slightly tart and creamy, created from rooibos and hints of hibiscus flowers, citrusy herbs and a pinch of rosemary. In the color of its amber liquid, you can sometimes catch the blazing rays of an ancient, flaming sunset over the great rift valley. Did you know? The african red bush, or rooibos, is ironically enough an evergreen shrub. As far as we know, staring at the plant for too long will not cause color blindness. In some places tazo is more highly valued than magic pebbles.

JuneBillie 03-25-2013 06:49 PM

Cindy I am glad you went to the doctor, but not glad you have bronchitis. My dad keeps that a lot. You folks have all been working on some pretty projects. I have somehow kept with my calorie counting this time. I have went down a few pounds too. That encouraged me. I have to go by calories since I can't exercise much. My cells lack the oxygen for me to have any energy. I do what I can. It's snowed all day, but didn't really stay on anything much, but it's still snowing tonight so I may wake up to some. It was pretty watching these big flakes falling. It reminded me more of a pretty Christmas Day.

Vanogay 03-26-2013 04:01 AM

Cindy glad you found out what you have, but please be careful with the herbal teas. In my case, I am allergic to many plants and flowers - I can't stand them on the outside of my body and I certainly would be pretty sick if I put them on the inside of my body with some sort of tea. If you have the allergies, please watch in case the ingredients are different from what you've had before.

Vanogay 03-26-2013 04:06 AM

Taboo Tuesday. This week is Holy Week for many and lots of extra candy will be floating around (you know what that means, right?). Our taboo this week is to eat ONLY a portion of what is served on your plate in a restaurant. Typically, the restaurant has a larger serving portion because of our expectations - the American dream of everything bigger. Well, those of us watching our weight know that is way more than we need at one sitting. Get your To Go Box/Doggie Bag early and put a portion of your meal in there. If you get hungry later and IF you really need to finish it, you have it, but if not, you have a small lunch for another day. Eat healthy and stay hydrated everyone.

JuneBillie 03-26-2013 12:50 PM

My husband was a help to me yesterday. Later last night I had reached my calorie limit, but suddenly I ask him to fix me something quick to eat. He does that for me when I have run out of energy. Well, he said he couldn't at that time, because He wasn't feeling good. Then that urge passed, and I was saved. lol.....I told him too he helped me. That does happen to all of us with sudden urges, and it's like all reason goes out the door. Thought I would share that.

createfourpaws 03-26-2013 04:03 PM

End of month is fast approaching, before we know it will be here. How this month has flown by. Remember only eat a portion size where ever you go, don't over indulge on the ham on Sunday, most of them seem to be loaded with salt so so we don't want the added water weight when we weigh ourselves Monday morning.

createfourpaws 03-28-2013 05:52 PM

wow seems we have lost lots of interest on this thread this month. nothing for 2 days. DO I even need to start a new thread for April???????

Jim's Gem 03-28-2013 06:27 PM

I have not been around much at all this month. My son had sinus surgery and was home recuping for 2 weeks. He's back down in San Diego now but am keeping busy.

Yes you should run it again for April. Sometimes our lives just get busy!
Thanks for keeping this up Cindy!

Painiacs 03-28-2013 06:41 PM

We have had a few days in the 40's so the snow and ice are melting. Sounded like it was raining today with the snow melting off of the roof.
I finally finished my Irish quilt. Woohoo! Now I can start on Allie's quilt.
Good grief. It's after 2 am. Better get to bed!

meanmom 03-29-2013 03:14 AM

I have just been busy the last few days. I had my carpets cleaned yesterday to get ready for the new furniture that is coming today. Woo Hoo!! I have been out of town the last 2 weekends so I am so far behind around the house. The carpet guys were supposed to come between 2 and 4 yesterday they called at 10 and wanted to come at 11:30. I frantically cleaned and moved furniture. All of my living room furniture is in my kitchen. We are rearranging the living room so I wanted it cleaned under the furniture too. I am kinda pissed because the carpet is still a little bit damp this morning. The stairs are still pretty wet. The carpet does look a lot better though. We thought about new carpet too but we blew the budget on the furniture. Maybe next year.
I am on spring break. It is a short one for me this year but we get out of school really early. My last day is May 23rd:-) Only 38 more days. And I am taking 5 of those off when my DD has the baby. The baby is due April 23rd. I was working on his quilt last night. It is machine appliqued. I have a few small pieces to applique yet, then layer and quilt it. I really want to work on the optical illusion quilt, but the baby quilt needs to get done as it has a deadline.
I have a really hard time behaving myself food wise when I am around the house. Too many temptations. At school not only is there no time to eat there isn't anything around to eat. I made some chocolate caramel thins to send to my DIL and I can't stay out of them. Shipping them out of here today. They are soooooooooooo yummy.
Cindy I hope the bronchitis is doing better.
Pat

Pete 03-29-2013 07:17 AM

BEAUTIFUL! No, GORGEOUS! Love it all.

createfourpaws 03-29-2013 07:19 AM

Ok I will keep the thread going next month. And I understand about cabin fever. having some of that myself. Haven't had my weekly date with my gentleman friend for a couple weeks due to health issues for me.

Yes I am finally starting to feel better, my biggest challenge is the cough syrup is full of a sugary substance causing my blood sugars to go up. With this happening I wish he would have given me the steroid shot to get over it quicker. UGH if not one thing its another.

I am working on several swaps this weekend to get out.

Pete 03-29-2013 07:19 AM

Have been down with my back and then just as it was getting better, thanks to shots in the spine, I got a horrendous cold on top of allergies! Really messed up dieting in a "Woe is me" attitude. Need to get back on track.

JuneBillie 03-29-2013 11:21 AM

With budding bushes and some trees budding, allergies flaring up all over the place. Even my dogs are sneezing after being in the grass. lol...Glad you are feeling better Cindy. Pete sorry to hear of your back and your cold. Meanmom you have really been busy, and glad about your new furniture. Pam H that quilt is so pretty. lots of work went into that. Hi to everyone else, and all of us have had cabin fever and want out. lol....

Teddybear Lady 03-29-2013 01:55 PM

I forgot to post on Thursday that I was down another 1.6 lbs. So much going on right now. I've been going out to my mom and dad's house twice a day to feed their cat. They've gone to see my brother and his family.

If we do this again in April, do you know what colors we will be collecting?

I hope all of you who are not feeling well get better. Maybe if Spring finally gets here, we'll all feel better.

I haven't posted for April yet, and have what the colors will be for the next quarter. I wil be posting the new thread tomorrow with the link here.

I am finally starting to feel better.

meanmom 03-30-2013 02:02 PM

Cindy glad to hear you are feeling better. My allergies are flaring up already. My insurance company has declined to pay for my extra allergy medicine that I need in the spring and the fall. I guess they will just have t pay for the resulting sinus infections I will get. My sinuses are pretty clogged right now. Hope it doesn't turn in to an infection.
Everyone try to stay out of the Easter baskets tomorrow. Have a great Easter.
Pat

createfourpaws 03-30-2013 02:15 PM

Pat that stinks that the insurance company wont pay for meds we need. Wonder if they will pay for allergy shots? I know my doctor wants me to be allergy tested after I get over this crap.

We have had rain come through and more coming later tonight and tomorrow......that my cough has come back with a vengenace. I really don't want to keep taking the cough medicine as it shoots up my blood sugars. Next time I will have to make sure they give me one for diabetics.

Heading out for my weekly date that hasn't happened in a few weeks with me being sick. So dinner and hang time will be relaxing to get out of the house. And yes it is with the same man I have been seeing for about a year now. We enjoy each others company.

When I get home, I will be posting the new thread with the themes. I will post in the thread for the next 3 months what they will be, although I am fearful that this is group is losing interest.

Jodi's Sew Happy 03-30-2013 04:50 PM

I don't know where the month has gone... I'm down 2#. I'm happy with that I kept last months loss off yeah!! Life is sure full of grief and struggles... you are in my thoughts and prayers. Something I used to do that I'm starting again for April is a gratitiude journal... 5 gratitiudes a day... Helps chase the negativity away. Thank-you all for the pretty teal "skinny" quarters from last month

Oh Pam she is she a doll. I have 1 GS and another due in 3 weeks. They are so much fun to spoil. I need to get the baby quilt finished. I started FMQ last night. It has some animals on it and i am having trouble deciding how to quilt them. The background is mostly quilted. I was doing so well earlier in the month. Then life happened. I am only down a few pounds. No FQ for me:-(

Pam H 03-31-2013 10:17 AM

Thanks everyone. It is just so much fun to have a little granddaughter! She is such a good baby.
No loss for me this month.
I am off on a road trip. My friend's husband died a year ago tomorrow which also is her birthday. I am taking her on a little getaway. She has no idea where we are going so this should be fun.

mizkyp 03-31-2013 01:46 PM

Pam it sounds like Ethan was a special little boy.

Cindy, hopefully you will feel better soon.
I just spent 2 weeks feeling lousy. You would think that I might have lost more then 2lbs. Oh well better then gaining. I need sunshine and warmer temps to get motivated. Happy Easter everyone!!!

createfourpaws 04-04-2013 01:30 PM

March's winner is Teddybear Lady. she lost 8.8 lbs. congrats on your loss

JuneBillie 04-04-2013 01:33 PM

Vanogay 04-05-2013 12:40 PM

Wow, Teddybear Lady. That's a great loss. Hang in there and do the same again this month!
