MAY 2012 Weight Loss Adventure With A Prize!

On May 1st weigh yourself and write it down. Do NOT send it to me. On May 31st weigh yourself again and PM me with your loss. This is weight lost not % lost. I will announce the winner June 2nd.

PM me for address. FQ’s need to be received no later than the 10th of month.

You cannot win 2 months in a row.

Chit chat is allowed, as well as WAYWO, (what are we working on). Please stay positive and uplifting as that is what keeps us on track. Come to this thread for tips, recipes, encouragement and {{{{HUGS}}}}}}

The prize is a themed FQ. At the end of the month, I will mail all the FQ’s received to the winner by the 10th of the month. I will contact the winner and announce the winner with the number of FQ’s they will receive.
May is preparing for the summer months. This month's theme is anything that reminds you of summer. Please send quality what you would want to receive. As always if you cannot send the theme fabric please send what you have. If you don't have a FQ, send a linear 1/4 yard. If you have signed up to be in the competition, please send the FQ to hostess by the 10th of the month. The winner has worked hard for this reward.

Eat healthy, exercise, try and lose weight but most of all have fun!!!!!!!!!!!

Sign up deadline to be included in the Prize Adventure is the 4th of each month at 9 p.m. CST, with your FQ postmarked by the 10th of month. You can always contribute to the thread, but it is only fair to have a cutoff for those trying to win.

TO PARTICIPATE, JUST SIGN IN HERE ON THIS THREAD BEFORE MAY 4TH. THERE IS NO NEED TO PM FOR PARTICIPATION, JUST YOUR ENDING WEIGHT LOSS FOR THE MONTH.

You must sign into the thread at least weekly to be eligible for the winning "skinny quarters" or to be declared "best loser for the month."

im in again.

remember those returning, The po box is no longer a valid address. I have canceled the PO Box, due to the cost. So remember to PM me for my mailing address.

Good luck everyone.

MissyGirl 04-29-2012 03:10 PM

I am here too. Since I had weight loss surgery I know I will not be eligible for the prize but I need support more than I need fabric right now.

:)

I am looking forward to losing more than I did last month.

Missy

I'm in again also. Sent the FQ's (really hubby went to the post office), so hoping that the scale will show some loss again next month.

Had BLT for lunch - it was so good. First one of the year. Can't wait to plant the garden and have some fresh veggies ourselves. We love beets - so am going to plant a lot and in a new space.

Was at grocery store today. So wanted a candy bar, purchased a Diet Pepsi instead. Don't know which one would be the worst. Have only had about 1/4 of the bottle so far but the night isn't over and Mom is pushing "buttons".

Help me Lord to stay on track and be a nicer person. Thank you for your blessings!!!

Pam H 04-29-2012 08:00 PM

Sign me up again. These months just keep flying by!
Cindy, can you remind us of the colors for the next few months? Sorry I didn't write them down.

JudyMN 04-30-2012 05:06 PM

I need to join. Can't do it alone. Please sign me up.

Everose 04-30-2012 06:51 PM

Welcome JudyMN, this is a great group of motivated people. Fell off the wagon end of month and wanting to get back in the running again. A loss is a loss though. I need to remind myself. Be good to ME!!!

Worked out in yard this afternoon and it felt so good. Hoping to be able to get a few more things done again tomorrow. The sun helps my depression so much.

Judy, love the bargello. Have looked at that pattern but haven't picked colors yet.

Take care everyone - remember - BE GOOD TO YOU.

Jim's Gem 04-30-2012 09:39 PM

I am in again for May. It will be a while before I can do any exercise that involves using feet but hope that I can still at least lose a little!!!!

nancia 05-01-2012 06:00 AM

i am in-- let's hope the pounds are out!!

nancia 05-01-2012 06:03 AM

pam-- your quilt is gorgeous!! i still haven't re-cut step 2. i am seriously behind on everything! good news, tho'. if i can find olivia's quilt, i'm ready to quilt it!! now, where on earth did i put it??

Maggiemay 05-01-2012 06:17 AM

I'm in for May too!

alikat110 05-01-2012 08:32 AM

I am amazed at the results seen by my small efforts. Lost 4#'s. Guess I need to keep this up so count me in!!!!!

elm 05-01-2012 09:45 AM

Count me in. I want to start releasing my weight. A friend suggested that since most people see losing something as a negative and releasing something as a positive, that I start thinking of shedding weight as releasing it so I could remain positive.

alikat110 05-01-2012 10:57 AM

Can't believe that I actually lost wt.....my efforts were so erratic!!!!! Maybe I can focus more this month!!!!! I do very much feel supported here....not judged!

blondeslave 05-01-2012 11:05 AM

I lost 6.8 in April- at least going the right direction. I'm traveling mid May with 2 of the hounds to the Michigan Waddle so hopefully I can keep on track.

Pam 304 05-01-2012 11:40 AM

Taboo Tues: This week I would like for you to turn the TV off for one hour and do something for your body. It can be anything from reading, bubble bath, just have a hour to yourself and do nothing, you get the idea. You might even want to plan your menu or plan on what you WILL do WHEN you reach a goal or even plan the goals you want to set for yourself. You can do this once or daily.... I think daily would be great. I know sometimes it is just hard to work a me hour into a day. We could do this for the month if you would like and keep track of what you did for your body. May for me month. Got the idea May for me from another blog I didn't want to take credit for thinking of May for me when I didn't. Like everose said Be Good To Yourself..... I think that is how she worded it.

Please count me in for this month. I didn't do well on last Thursdays weigh in. Having a terrible time with the lip/lymphedema problems and blood sugars have been elevated along with all the other health issues.

I call it getting rid of ounces. Sort of like throwing out trash.

Sklewellen 05-01-2012 02:47 PM

New to this site, new to quilting; so iI might as well try to lose a few pounds. After 40 years of marriage I'm up about 80 pounds. It would be nice to see what I can loose. Might be fun, even if iI don't win. Good luck everyone,

meanmom 05-01-2012 02:50 PM

Pam H I love the mystery quilt. It is so satisfying to complete a project. I have way too many UFO's right now and they are making me nuts. I don't like this many things going at once. MY baby quilt is marked and ready to layer to FMQ. The t-shirt just need a border and I need to decide if I am quilting it or having it done. I am making a table runner for Mothers day, well in my mind, not started yet. Plus several other UFO's floating around. I need 2 quilt blocks by Tuesday for quilt guild, one is finished and one needs about an hour. I am doing the 50 paper pieced stars group on here and am 3 behind. I have been wanting to do Dear Jane for a long time. My LQS is starting a group on Saturday that I signed up for but I forgot I am walking a 5K on Saturday. SO I guess I will miss the first class.
The classroom where the teacher has been making me nuts has been a little better. I finally talked to her. Not my style to do this but I made myself do it since I will be there again next year. She didn't realize how I felt but she knew I was often pissed off. She has been trying the last few days. I also talked to the other aide who I really like. She agreed with me some and has been telling the teacher when she does things to cut me off. The teacher and the other aide are best friends so she can talk to her that way. They also eat lunch together and sometimes go out on the weekend etc. Hopefully things will improve. The kids have been absolutely awful but that I can deal with. I worked with mentally ill kids for 9 years. These kids are easier than them. One of our kids is such a mess they were talking about expelling him yesterday. I work with multiple disability kids. THey aren't sure what to do with him. As of right now I might be stuck being his one on one aide the rest of the year. He wears you out. YOu can never be sure when he is going to run out of the building or jump across the table and hit you or lash out at another kid. Only 25 days next. The director of special ed talked to me about it today. Not too sure where it is all going yet. Working with him would require a lot of chocolate. I need to find a good substitute.

Jim's Gem 05-01-2012 03:01 PM

This weeks taboo is easy. We don't have television. Hmmmmm....... something for me...... I'm kinda stuck in the house and not moving a whole lot....... I'll have to think of something different than I am already doing.

Got my stitches out today. It sure is ugly looking!!! I know it will look better over time. 2 more weeks of no weight on the foot. I think I can survive it..... maybe

Everose 05-01-2012 05:35 PM

Pam, I love the taboo. Do I do it - NO. But I think about it a lot. I even did something for me today - I worked in the flower beds. I love digging in the dirt, looking at what's growing and maybe even weeding a little.

A Calgon bath sounds wonderful also. Oh this week is going to be fun. Thank You!!!

Be Good To You!!!

Sklewellen 05-01-2012 06:14 PM

Where do I find the 50 paper pieced stars? My dad is retired military, stars would be a great quilt for him.

What about getting someone to bring you a pan of water with lots of bubbles in it..... to have a nice hot soak for the good foot that you have to use a lot more now. Just a thought. Maybe a couple of can to use for weights and do some exercises like some curls or lift it up over your head or maybe a can in a old purse with little handles and do leg lifts on the good foot.

Pam 304 05-01-2012 06:39 PM

Oh I forgot to tell you hope the foot heals soon. Will be praying for a speedy recovery.

Pam H 05-01-2012 08:03 PM

I already did something nice for me today without knowing the taboo.....a nice luxurious mani/pedi.
I haven't sewn for 2 days. I've been having so much fun watching (mainly listening to) old movies while I sew and then putting quotes on facebook to see if my friends can guess the movie. Before the weekend I need to get a binding cut and sewn onto a quilt so that I can do the hand sewing on our drive to Iowa for a wedding.
Yesterday I ate a big fat juicy burger. Bad, bad! Today I was better.
I was wondering why I wasn't getting updates for the new month. Oops! I forgot to subscribe!

elm 05-02-2012 05:30 AM

I'm retired and because I am in charge of my schedule feel like most of what I do each day is for me. Went to the fitness center yesterday and exercised for almost an hour. Hope to go again today.

mim 05-02-2012 05:53 AM

50 PP stars is a Carol Doak book -- It really is a fun thing to PP blocks. I go to used book sites to look for things. Perhaps someone here has a copy for sale
Mim

Everose 05-02-2012 10:01 AM

Ladies, I saw this on a graduation throw in the Oriental Trading booklet. Thought it was very appropriate for all of us.

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."

Good for it!!! May you all have a great day.

meanmom 05-02-2012 02:25 PM

The stars is Carol Doaks 50 paper pieced stars. THey are really pretty. I don't care for the colors od a lot od the stars in the book. I don't like the color choices. THere is a link on here for the group doing the book together. I am a few behind right now because of other things. I think we are on Louisiana this week. We are going thru the book alphabetically. There are some really beautiful stars posted.
I have been back on my elliptical this week. I had gotten lazy. That is probably why the scale is not moving. My food has been pretty good. Also my knee has been bothering me. I have a torn meniscus and need a replacement. The doctor says it doesn't seem to be bad enough to replace yet. He said I will know when it is time. I need to decide by my appointment next week if it is bothering me because i have been lazy or if I need another shot.
I got the border on my t-shirt quilt last night, finished the 2 blocks I need for my guild and cleaned up a little so I can start quilting my baby quilt. I need to go layer it so I can get started.

JudyMN 05-02-2012 06:23 PM

I passed the candy bowl 4 times today! It is a start.

Everose 05-03-2012 04:42 AM

Way to go Judy!!! Every day will get a little easier (that's what they all say - it gets easier because we see the goal we want - I still want those foods)

Hoping everyone has a positive day. We may not all eat right, but have a positive attitude about yourself. IT SURE HELPS!!!!

elm 05-03-2012 07:35 AM

I'm here, I'm smiling and I sarted the day with a healthy breakfast. Have a great day everyone.

Everose 05-03-2012 08:12 AM

Morning everyone!!! Today has been bill paying and such. But the checkbook balanced!!! Only took twice looking through everything, but...

I had a bubble bath last night. It felt wonderful. Thanks again Pam for reminding me to take care of me.

As soon as the Meals on Wheels comes to deliver Mom's lunch, I get to go outside and cut more "yellow flowers" out of the lawn. We had a little rain last night so they are growing great.

Take care - will check back later.
Di

Pam H 05-03-2012 10:02 AM

Boy, is it ever raining here!
I cut bias binding using the continuous cutting method. (watched tut on youtube). It worked great but wasted some fabric and I don't have enough binding. Lucky for me my friend will pick some up for me so I don't have to drive into town. Lots to do today to get ready to go out of town tomorrow for a family wedding this weekend. Get to see my mom and hopefully all of my siblings. I also get to see how my mystery quilt looks on my mom's bed. I hope she likes it!

createfourpaws 05-03-2012 06:51 PM

welcome newcomers and returning members. Good luck with all your efforts to drop the lbs. I am planning on being here more this month.

I have finally lost a few lbs, this is the first loss for me in the last 6 weeks. I have lost more inches than lbs. I am down about 2 pant sizes.

If you haven't requested the mailing address for your skinny/fat quarter, you need to do so.
