Don't you think the seller should waive the shipping fee of 2.46 since since she is makiing a 500% profit?

Becca Bear 02-05-2011 01:30 AM

Goodness gracious!!! Those people must have money to burn! I can't understand that kind of thinking.

susanwilley 02-05-2011 05:30 AM

I agree on both accounts!!!!!!!!!!

Twinnie 02-05-2011 06:44 AM

Some fabric is pretty desirable, I guess. In the 60's I bought 2-1/2 yards of Frank Lloyd Wright design linen fabric for $5.00. Every couple of years I'd drag it out wondering what to do with it. Because of the design it wasn't something I could cut up and I couldn't decide, so in the closet it went. After 25 years(!) I read where a collector was looking for the Wright stuff. I decided mine was right, so I contacted them and sold it for $1,000. It had a little fold mark on it, or they would have paid $1,200. I thought the $1,000 was fine, and it entered a collection of furniture, houses, etc. I shudder to think how I could have wrecked it if I'd been more decisive.

SandyMac 02-05-2011 08:24 AM

Is that for real 108.00 for that really?

Quiltbeagle 02-05-2011 09:40 AM

Wha...?!?!?!?! 2 Yds of fabric with a winning bid of over $108???? Well, different strokes for different folks I guess.

butterflies5518 02-05-2011 04:20 PM

They bid how much?? that's way too crazy

DONK 02-05-2011 04:47 PM

26 bids final price $108 and some change. too rich for my blood.

tdgiffin 02-05-2011 04:52 PM

There is a REASON that orange mushrooms went out of style......

Quiltaddict 02-05-2011 05:06 PM

That's just crazy.

Linda1 02-05-2011 05:28 PM

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but their pockets must have a lot more cash than mine. I wouldn't pay that much even if I had the cash but some people will.

kathidahl 02-05-2011 08:45 PM

There has got to be more to this offering than meets the eye. No one would pay that price..bet some kid got their hands on a bidding password...heard of that happening before.

danece 02-05-2011 08:49 PM

Wow, are these some sort of magic mushrooms, you know, the kind that make everyone who judges quilts think your is the best in show, I personally am not impressed with this fabric, man it was pricey, :D :D

amma 02-05-2011 08:55 PM

ROFLMBO I am off to check out the thriftstores for more of this type of fabric  :lol:

Quilter2B 02-05-2011 10:33 PM

If you look at the bidders you will see only a couple of people were bidding on it. In these cases it usually ends up like a debate on who can get it.....not that they really need it.....
They were bidding back and forth until 26 bids were made. Last time I saw something like this it was over a childs toy worth about $20 and it went up over $500.

tuxedokitty 02-06-2011 07:30 AM

HOLY COW! $108.05 for 2 yards of that??? Someone must have either needed it desperately to finish a project, or a very heated bidding war was going on! Yikes!

DebsShelties 02-06-2011 07:31 AM

$108 and 26 bids, bidding is over
sorry would never pay that much for fabric.

Mimito2 02-06-2011 07:34 AM

Showed this to DH. He said "That stuff is so ugly. They gotta be laundering money(He watches a lot of movies) No sane, legitimate person is going to pay that much for that pc of material." LOL I agree...

sewwhat85 02-06-2011 09:09 AM

You know I never thought of that!! Sure hope Ebay catches on if it is laundering money.

drgranny 02-06-2011 02:50 PM

Maybe some one had an unfinished project and didn't care what they had to pay for the fabric. I saw a fabric I wanted for the back of an orential type quilt I plan to make. Went back to buy it and it was gone. Have been serching for it for almost 2 years and finally found it at Joann's. Not where I originally saw it. I had been serching online and couldnot find it. It was when Joann had a good sale last month. Got it for 50% off. It was in 3 pieces but what the hey? I can sew it together!!! I was just glad to find it. The price was a bonus!

suecq 02-07-2011 02:07 AM

26 bids finally went for $108.05 go figure...

glenda5253 02-07-2011 02:18 AM

It says "vintage style" so what in the world is so special about this fabric? :?:  :?:

RugosaB 02-08-2011 04:17 PM

Maybe someone has an old Volkswagon van and they needed this for....uh... curtains? (because they need to keep prying eyes from seeing them doog.. what people smoked, I mean did, in the 70's

earthwalker 02-08-2011 04:25 PM

Let's hope the "winner" noticed the words "vintage style". Though it could be just plain old "auction fever"...where it's not all about what the item is at all.

karenchi 02-08-2011 04:30 PM

Wonder if the ebay person ever got paid....LOL

QultingaddictUK 02-10-2011 02:59 AM

I know I spend far too much money on my hobby, quilting but I don't care as I am a complete addict and wouldn't be without it even tho' I am on a tight budget but to pay that sort of money for that particular piece of fabric

They must have more money than sense :hunf:

I wonder too. I noticed it was a "private" bid so the identity is so held confidential.
