mega millions jackpot

So what would you do with it? Would you move? Quit your job?

The number one thing I would do is set up a large enough fund that every single kid in my extended family in to eternity could go to the college of their choice.

Then I'd probably just have my house remodeled a bit and buy a round of new cars for my family. I really do like my neighborhood.

Up North 03-30-2012 09:09 AM

If I won I would move my grandkids and their families closer to me, Pay off there debts from student loans add on to my house. But I would stay where I am located. Might even put in a pool!!

patski 03-30-2012 09:09 AM

I'd stay in my home, pay off all bills & mortgage and quilt all day long for the charities of my choice!

kountrykreation 03-30-2012 09:09 AM

QUIT my job...

gramajo 03-30-2012 09:13 AM

I'd quit my job so fast they wouldn't see me leaving. :) I would love to retire; I'm 69 and can't afford to.

That said, all the family mortgages would be paid off, accounts set up for GKs college, I'd travel & then decide what to do with the rest of it.

skowron5 03-30-2012 09:31 AM

Build my dream quilting room.

Mariposa 03-30-2012 09:32 AM

I'd get out of debt, take a vacation, help family, and be able to sew and help charities. And have fun thinking about what to do with all of it!

Jan in VA 03-30-2012 10:02 AM

After settling family needs and comforts, I'd establish a charitable foundation and seek places to bless people with God's abundance as given to me. I long for this though I do not play the lottery, LOL.:)

DebraK 03-30-2012 11:39 AM

how much does one need to live happily? I would do a whole lot of good for a whole lot of people, and try to make things a little better for future generations.

Mad Mimm 03-30-2012 11:53 AM

I would build a memorial garden for my mother that was open to the public.
I would set aside funds for family members to attend college.
I would make a single monetary gift to each of my family members to do with as they saw fit (and when they spent it, they spent it and there would be no more hand-outs).
I would move to a larger house on the coast somewhere and build a fabulous quilt and pottery studio (not in the same room, could you imagine the mess?)
I would spend a serious amount of time figuring out which charitable organizations I would help. If I couldn't find one that really fit my desire, I would create my own. Then I would completely enjoy being able to give something back.
I would not go back to work but would travel the world with my family and hire a private tutor to educate my kids as we lived and experienced the world in all its vastness.
and yes, I would go into my favorite fabric shop and buy as much fabric as I wanted.
Okay, so I would probably do that last one a couple of times...

Oh how much fun is the "What If?" game!

buslady 03-30-2012 11:55 AM

I don't know, but I would love to find out! I've always said I would take care of my kids, make my life better and be able to enjoy the rest of my life! Heck, I don't need hundreds of millions of dollars to do that. I'd gladly share with 100 other people. I wish they would make it easier to win, the pot doesn't need to grow so much. IMHO

Up North 03-30-2012 11:56 AM

When I worked with the under paid community we used to play the what if game all the time to try and build on the reality. I did not buy a ticket so will not win anything but sometimes if is fun to dream!!

Quiltaddict 03-30-2012 12:01 PM

I retired last year so no need to quit my job and I just bought a new car that I love, so no new car for me. I would buy my son a car that actually works and a house so he wouldn't have to share with three roommates. Then I'd pay for him to go to whatever school he wants to learn as much as he wants. I'd pay off my daughter's mortgage and buy new cars for her and family. Then I would build my dream house (always wanted a log cabin, but big) with a perfect quilting studio with lots of storage and sewing machines. Ahhh to dream.

I love that dream. Count me in!!!!

funcupl 03-30-2012 12:12 PM

I'd pay off all my children's bills and give them enough to not have to worry about future bills, buy myself a long-arm quilting machine, let my hubby buy any tools he wants and set up trust funds for each of my grandbabies futures. Then make sure others that needed help locally get assistance. I am very lucky and happy with my life now, so if it never happens...I will be fine!

Well my office all chipped in (16 of us) and we are all dreaming calling in to our corporate office and telling that
the Statesville branch is now closed, permenately until they hire all new people! 'cause we dont' work here anymore!
That would be so nice! Other than the obvious, bills, family, new house, new truck, charities galore, my one dream
wish would be to throw an all expenses paid family reunion for the whole family, kids, grand kids, aunts, uncles, cousins
in some wonderful spot of the country where we can all spend a week or so together. We are so spread out across the country I just think that would be SO much fun and a once in a life time chance! AND of course, in my new house
I would have every quilting notion and all the thread and fabric I could stand!! Whoo Hoo! Dreams.... gotta have 'em!

I'd build the home of my dreams and hire people to do all of the work of it - I'm tired of DIYs. I'd make sure my kids have homes to live in. Then, the rest would go to charitable work.

wanda lou 03-30-2012 01:27 PM

It would be so nice to be free of a mortgage, and not to worry so much. Help alot of people.

Painiacs 03-30-2012 01:37 PM

Buy bigger home on the beach, pay debts, kids debt , give tons for Gods service, have fun giving to needy!!

sandilee 03-30-2012 02:10 PM

I pity whoever wins! They will never live in peace.
However; if I ever win, I would;

travel, buy an airplane, new house, expensive car, church, kids, charities, etc., etc.

Yellow Bird 03-30-2012 02:18 PM

I'd create a family trust to win the lottery and put all the people I want to benefit in the trust. Then I'd claim the lottery and take the annual payments.

My children would be part of the trust so that they wouldn't have to pay inheritance taxes on the proceeds when I die.

As for as the actual money...I'd enjoy it and share it.

alikat110 03-30-2012 02:20 PM

oops, i started a topic on this at 3pm. missed yours sorry!!!\

usual stuff: college for kids and family members. pay of mortgage and bills, would like to donate to church and hospital.

dream: higher Clinton Kelley to help me with new wardrobe, new Timberwood home with large bedrooms, my own craft/sewing room, game room for the kids, new sports car...have you seen the 2014 Viper due to come out next year...i'd get it in the redest red i could!!!! oh, and i like the idea of disappearing for a year...fall off the radar so people can't hound me for hand outs.

Dolphyngyrl 03-30-2012 04:07 PM

quit my job, quit my job, did I mention quit my job. If it weren't for the animals and they pay I would quit because of the beauracracy and the rescues, too crazy, too much drama, not worth the stress or the headaches

BMP 03-30-2012 05:08 PM

I would not go public as the winner......buy a carribean island and set up the best quilting retreat location.....

Thats the area I live, Horseheads, Elmira.....small world

Edie 03-31-2012 03:17 AM

Looks like I don't have to worry. The numbers were drawn last night and there was a winner!!!! Not me! That's ok too. I kinda like being not rich and not too poor. I get such a good feeling when I can find a good bargain or a good 10 for $10 at the grocery store. I like my little $1.00 scratchoffs!!!!! I won $50 once on a $1.00 scratchoff and bought some fabric! Now that is a jackpot!!!! I will admit to thinking that if I ever did win, I would buy my husband a motor home and the two of us and Miss Bess could go traveling wherever we wanted to!!!! But then we just bought a little 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup from our son the other day - what else could anyone ask for, eh? Edie

Mega Millions Jackpot

Relatives are the ones you REALLY have to worry about - especially the ones you NEVER hear from before!........Remember the tv show "the Millionaire"? I would LOVE to do that! travel across the country and when I would come across someone that is suffering from losing their home/job, etc, they would be presented with a check.......oh that would be so much fun! It would be nice to be able to build a large building that would be able to hold maybe about 20 families. It would be on 200 acres with some type of school, medical, and be self contained. ....oh well, its just a pipe dream; we didn't win the big prize, or any for that matter - its just nice to daydream......

damaquilts 03-31-2012 05:23 AM

Well since I didn't buy a ticket this time...... But I have things all planned out if I ever do. 1. Buy myself my own house(designed by me) with plenty of land. 2. Put money in trust for grandkids for school . All expenses paid IF they keep their grades up. I don't care if its a tech school or college as long as they can get a job when they are done. No permanent students. If they choose not to go to school they get the money when they are 35. 3. On the land I would open a rescue for animals with an on site vet, and trainer. In GA . There would be separate buildings for cats and small dogs and large dogs , maternity rooms also would be separate. I would also have a senior home for dogs and cats and a separate space for cats with Fiv etc where they could live out their lives. The rest of the staff would be volunteers who would get housing for free(nice little 2 bedroom cottages) , they would of course have other jobs, for personal expenses or be retired. There would be community gardens too for anyone who wanted to garden. Oh and it would all be a eco friendly as possible. Kennels would be recycled truck trailers, and houses either yurts or geodome housing.
And for me other than the house a trip to Ireland and some travel around the US to places I want to see like the Grand Canyon. Maybe some other little things like Paying someone else to quilt my tops. :-D
LOL can you tell I have been thinking about it for a long time.

gramajo 03-31-2012 07:07 AM

Looks like I'll be working tomorrow. Darn

elm 03-31-2012 07:35 AM

I'd pay off my mortgage and my daughters. Then I'd plan a fantastic vacation for my family, self, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren. Set up a college fund for both grandchildren. Plan with someone who knows how to do it a scholarship fund for single parents who want to get a college degree.

BellaBoo 03-31-2012 07:54 AM

I'd spend and donate every last penny of it. Since my kids all have careers and are productive citizens they would decide how to use the money I would give them. DH would probably have a private John Deere showroom. LOL

dreamboat 03-31-2012 10:53 AM

Did anyone on here win any of the jackpot? I saw that they had 158 people win $250,000.00. I would of been happy winning that.

debbieoh 03-31-2012 11:48 AM

If I won (which I didn't) I would have bought both my son's new homes and car. buy a longarm and pay someone to teach me to use it. Would hire people to help me make charity quilts for Rainbows and Hospice, would walk around to soup kitchen and homeless shelters and hand out $. the batter womans shelter would be my first stop.
