Has everyone connected to her lost their ever loving minds? Now they are marketing her just as they did the Brittney chick when she was young.
According to the news Miss Cyrus is only 17 but this video makes her look like some worn out street walker. Has her father gone mad or what?

How sad my 8 year old granddaughter is obsessed with her, This is disgusting!

CarrieAnne 05-05-2010 01:18 PM

How sad. She's such a cute girl too. LOL, my 8 yo neice is ALSO obsessed with her!

JJs 05-05-2010 01:19 PM

nasty - another Beyonce
I didn't even watch the whole thing

guess I'm officially an old fuddy-duddy...

Janetlmt 05-05-2010 01:20 PM

A few weeks ago..Mika Brazinski..from the Morning Joe show made a comment about Cyrus's pole dancing. She stated that is was in appropriate for young girls..meaning her own daughter who is 11 years old. She would no longer allow her young daughter to watch her. Cyrus made a public statement and bashed Ms. Brazinski. Ms. Brazinski stated on the show that she was standing by her opinion and she did not care if Cyrus liked it or not. I am totally appauled that such sexual content is being displayed by young girls. What ever happened to innocence. My daughter is 27 years old and I did everything I could to protect her. I think the father is nuts..for allowing such things to go on. I can only see trouble ahead for her. I hate to say that...and do not wish anything bad for her.

vjengels 05-05-2010 01:25 PM

I'm the first person to scream about objectifying our little girls... and I haven't seen the whole video.... but on this one I have to say.... poor Mylie... no one wants her to grown up, be a teen ager and make mistakes; yes her family should, and maybe has given her better advice.... as long as sex pays... sex will be big business; and she's a big business.
Hopefully she'll be able to maintain her physical appearance into her 50' s like Madonna to stay 'viable'. Imagine how crushing it would be to realize that you 'peaked' at 17.......

ginnie6 05-05-2010 01:55 PM

okay.....I could have done without seeing that! That is really, really sad. To be honest though my 13yo quit watching her because she was getting so "vulgar". DD said she was wild. Her parents need their heads examined I think.

MadQuilter 05-05-2010 03:30 PM

I think it is visually stunning and beautifully done. She wanted to shed her Hannah Montana image and I guess she did that. She is 17 and in the Sturm und Drang time in her life so the message of the song makes total sense to me. I hope she will not go off the deep end like some of the other young singer-starlets.

I agree. I am not crazy about it, but don't find it offensive at all. I have seen much worse.

DebraK 05-05-2010 03:45 PM

I watched some of it without the sound. I found it to be quite laughable. She is not very graceful.

She has advisers, I wonder why none of them suggested something a little less dramatic. Not a very good role model for young girls and young ladies to look up to.
I hope she keeps a level head about her and doesn't turn into a Lindsey Lohan or Brittany Spears.
As for her mechandise, I wouldn't buy it for my granddaughters. Her line of clothes along with those two Olsen twins borders on sleazy. What ever happened to little sundresses and matching capri sets?

Well, she is also very head strong. I think her behavior in real life should be the gauge for what young girls should be looking at. It is up to parents to explain what is and what isn't real. Geeesh, listen to me - the childless expert. lol

Gramof6 05-05-2010 06:11 PM

As a child, she attracted very young little girls. But she is growing all up. She has to decide how to present herself in a way that will sell to the young adults in which she is. It is sad to me because I do know young 6-9 yr old girls that just think she walks on water. I did not like to see her in this video because I have the young girl Hannah Montanna image ingrained in my mind. She has to grow up like everyone else. And "sexy" is what sells.

sewnsewer2 05-05-2010 07:18 PM

I never thought Billy Ray was too smart anyway. Never did like him, thought he was too big for his britches. I do like Miley tho.

Honey 05-05-2010 07:54 PM

It just made me feel sad for her and for all young girls who think that their bodies are the only true asset that they have.

Gramof6 05-05-2010 08:44 PM

Honey, I agree. Can't you see the little girls now wanting to dress like Miley in her video? And the young teens doing whatever trying to have the shape & body like hers? Sad!

wvdek 05-05-2010 08:53 PM

I have a problem with parents encouraging this type of young 'lady' for their children to emmulate.

If you were making the kind of money she is, you might do anything they wanted you to also.

I must say in all fairness, I have not nor will I watch the video. I only went by what was said on here. So, I guess my HO does not count.

So true. It is sad.

Of course it does, you said your peace and I for one except it.

Gramof6 05-05-2010 10:37 PM

Wvdek your opinion counts as much as anyone elses. None of us can do a thing about Miley Cyrus. We are only voicing our thoughts & opinions.

Rainy Day 05-05-2010 11:11 PM

I keep thinking about Janis Ian, and her song "Girls In Our Town", and how it still is so relevant to young women today. Maybe someone should play it to Miley and Billy Ray. Mind you, if every silly, ill advised thing I did at 17 was preserved forever on the net and commented on for the rest of my life ugh. And I don't think many pole dancers or street based s e x workers look like that, or earn the kind of money Miley makes. Maybe she could make a donation to an organisation that helps out girls in the s e x industry, kind of like royalties?

Bevanger 05-06-2010 06:40 AM

I've always loved "Hanna Montana". but watching this was like watching Madonna, Janet Jackson, all those rolled into one.

danmar 05-06-2010 07:43 AM

I think the video has great costumes, especially Miley's. You know what they say, "Sex sells". If she didn't go to some extreme, I'm afraid that her career would be over. That is a very competitive business and to stay in it, I think you have to "play the game".

DebraK 05-06-2010 08:09 AM

the wings are fabulous! Miley doesn't pull this off very well. I admit to only watching the first minute or so, without audio.

raptureready 05-06-2010 10:46 AM

I started my daughter out at very young age telling her that these people like Miley are NOT people to be admired. It's okay if she wanted to watch them but not to act like them. After a few months she decided at the age of 9 that she'd outgrown Miley. I was so glad.
This morning was the first time I'd seen her latest video and it was beyond disgusting. Someone made a huge mistake. No 17 yr old should be made up, dressed up and acting like a street walker. She's another little girl that's growing up way too fast and will probably be another Brittany or Lindsay in the next few years. Maybe that's what happens when parents cease to be parents and start being "managers". Sad, sad, sad. I feel sorry for her because she too young to realize what she's doing to herself and her future. Oh well, I guess she can always get a job on "The World's Dumbest" with the rest of the burnt out child actor has-beens.

TanyaMas 05-06-2010 10:55 AM

fully agree with both...
it goes with the point made in the song.. along with the interview with her after it....

at least she is covered... if this 1 offends you, dont go near christina aguileras new 1...

TanyaMas 05-06-2010 10:55 AM

sorry double posted... but was supposed to quots Mad Quilter

Chele 05-06-2010 11:06 AM

I believe little Hannah Montana has grown up! I hope she uses her talents wisely. I would hate to see ANY teenager make the life decisions Britney and Lindsay have. Perhaps Miley will learn something beneficial from her predecessors. I can hope anyway.

raptureready 05-06-2010 05:51 PM

It certainly isn't something I'd want my young daughter to see. I can understand that "sex sells". I guess the problem that I have with it is her age. At what age to we quit thinking of it as child pornography? To me it's a shame that by the tender age of 17 everything else has been done to promote oneself so there's nothing left to use but the sex angle. At 17 it's just inappropriate. And that's my HO--worth just about as much as the paper it's written on but it's mine and I'm entitled to it. LOL
p.s. the costume wings were amazing but beauty doesn't cover up wrong.

redkimba 05-06-2010 06:55 PM

I'm not overly impressed with her musical talent. If I had a computer overlay, my very flat vocal talent could sound that good also. The song sounds like every other "hip-hop" whateverthatis.

If she has any talent, she'll either grow out of this stage or she'll wind up dead from a drug OD.

raptureready 05-06-2010 07:33 PM

There's a new computer program that can make anyone with any voice sound good. Maybe she uses that.

moomoo 05-07-2010 03:48 AM

thats what sells now is sex...its a shame that people just cant be there selfs and grow up when they r suppose to...

I'm in it too. Today I'm even upset that our school took children 3 and 4th graders to see a play called the Raven Stole the Sun. DD was telling me about it and said that it was gross. Something about a girl going to the river to get a drink and the guy stuck her with a pine needle, she got pregnant, her stomach grew and then the baby came out. When a 4th grader says, "It was gross and not appropriate for kids our age." it must have been bad.

 I just saw the video and was utterly apalled. I can't believe her dad let her do that. She looks like a hooker. I hope that the words in the song (I can't be saved. I can't be changed.) don't end up being true. I can understand that she wants to grow up but that's not the way to do it.And even off stage she doesn't dress apropriatly (sp). It' so sad to see a role model for our children behave that way. I hope she doesn't end up like Brittney.

Debra Mc 05-07-2010 08:42 AM

I have never ever bought anything Hannah Montanna & wiil never ever buy anything Miley Cyrus. I don't like her in any size shape or form. But hey thats my opinion & thats what free speech is all about. You can or ya don't.

Gramof6 05-07-2010 09:29 AM

It is only my opinion but if a person is truly talented, they do not have to dress like a sleaze to succeed. It is also my opinion that it speaks volumes about the parents of any girl that approves of their DD appearing in such a manner, muchless promoting it. I have never cared for Billy Ray Cyrus anyway.

mjsylvstr 05-07-2010 09:46 AM

with all that is going on in this thread, I think that we ought to put an end to it....

aren't we giving in to this whole "miley cyrus" thing by continuing with these posts..

with that, this is my last one. Thanks for letting me vent....mj

Lyn4ty 05-07-2010 11:57 AM

It's just another influence that is telling our children it's okay to be sleazy and dress provoctivly when your just a child. Kids growing up way too fast and what happens when they get to their older teens and feel like they have done and seen it all? What then? They need better role models and parents and grandparents need to steer them in right directions, pay attention to what your kids see and do is the only way to combat the outside influences. Sorry if some of my spelling is off.

if you remember, the beginning of her father's career was based on a dance/walk that made him look like a streetwalker, too (scoot, scoot boogie). now he looks chewed up and spit out. somebody in that family has to bring in the bucks. he's been grooming her for years now.

if anybody were to ask me, i'd say putting your kid out there is child abuse because it didn't start when she was 17. it started a long time ago. as soon as she began to look too old for that t.v. show she was doing - i am so out of the loop - her image changed. she started appearing at award shows in sexy gowns, with way too much makeup and jewelry, accompanied by her father.
