Looking a bit the None Such jarred brand seems to be in stock in places like Walmart and the standard grocery chains at reasonable prices -- I think it is shipping glass that drives up the cost. For shipping you might try searching on condensed, the dry boxes store/ship well.

I love mincemeat and fruitcake and all sorts of things that I miss...

Mincemeat Recipe

I just had to share this mincemeat recipe that I remember my Grandma making. I believe she used meat scraps following butchering. I am making my granddaughters family heritage recipe books as they marry, thus the quotes from this recipe. I include as many of the recipes in the original handwriting as I can. They love the books!

Iceblossom... I live in Davenport , Iowa. Non of the grocery stores are stocking mincemeat in jars this season. Believe me, I've looked everywhere but Target which is on the other side of town about 12 miles away. We do not like the dry mincemeat as it does not make a moist enough cookie IMHO, and did not see it on the shelves either. Christmas only comes once a year so that's why I ordered it.

We use to make Mincemeat Pies all the time and the last time I made them from scratch it was already to costly. So buying the jar was a cheaper option. I don't plan on making any anymore since I am the only one left that will eat them. None of the younger generations even want to try it. Like everything else things have gotten out of control. The cost of meats are awful! Right now I am grateful that my freezers are full.

This post intrigued me. Mincemeat isn’t a biggie where I live. I’ve never even seen mincemeat pie, cookies, etc. I’ve never seen a jar of it in the grocery stores.

Would mincemeat be in the can/jar fruit section of a grocery store? Maybe Whole Foods might have it. I’m going to look for it and make cookies.

Iberna....usually in the baking aisle on the top shelf.

I found mincemeat. Whole Foods. It’s not None Such but it’s what I could find. The jar is 12oz. That’s 1.5 cups. I’m going to make them. Woo hoo.

I made them this morning. Delicious. Sort of like a fruit cake cookie. I used your recipe. I will definitely make these again. Thank you so much. My DH found mincemeat at Whole Foods. He went there yesterday and had to ask an employee if they carried it. She said something like "what’s that!"
