More good wishes on your move! How exciting.

My oldest daughter and her son live in Hamilton, some south of Toronto, and they love it! It's so pretty and clean and the people are very nice.

Walter'sMom 08-05-2011 07:01 AM

I add my welcomes to Canada - I am hour and a half east of Toronto. Will you be close by. We have some great quilt shops!! Good luck with the move

Judith 08-05-2011 07:06 AM

Welcome to Canada! Where will you be living? I live in Manitoba. You will love it here (except for the high cost of fabric and maybe the cold winters!). You're coming at a great time of the year. Fall colours are gorgeous.

devon 08-05-2011 07:13 AM

thanks everyone... my partner who is canadian has family in some parts of ontario,ie- hamilton, port dover. so have been before but loved it in kawartha lakes area as we have a few friends there...

scrap adict 08-05-2011 01:04 PM

Good luck with your move. Not easy to be a displaced person. We are friendly here. From a quilter in Southern Ontario

alwayslearning 08-05-2011 02:23 PM

Oh, Canada is a wonderful country. Hope everything goes smoothly and that you can get your new sewing area set up soon so you feel right at home!

Kimkankwilt 08-05-2011 02:33 PM

Good luck with your move...just remember to say "ey" after every sentence....

Taughtby Grandma 08-05-2011 04:43 PM

Best wishes for your new life in Canada, don't worry they have quilters there too. :-D

mountain deb 08-05-2011 05:44 PM

I was in the Navy and moved multiple times. I loved exploring the new areas I moved into. Could not wait to settle down, now I am getting the itchy foot to travel. Sigh, lack of money keeps me grounded.

Donnasue 08-05-2011 05:45 PM

It will be fine. While you are there, make sure you bake some salmon, put it on some baby spinach or lettuce, and get some Hines 57 English Dressing. I fell in love with it, and can only get it in Canada when my scrapbooking friend goes there to visit family.

countrycottage 08-05-2011 05:48 PM

Moving can be really exciting in that one can "start fresh" and make new friends. Maybe you can find some quilters and mix right in.

GingerK 08-05-2011 06:40 PM

I have to add my welcome too. Having moved 19 times in 25 years of marriage, I know the stresses that you are feeling. But we're all here, ready to welcome you with open arms! My DD's inlaws have a cottage near Lindsay. It is a lovely area. I am about 2-2.5 hours west of you.

labtechkty 08-05-2011 06:53 PM

Good Luck with your new home!!!From the sounds of it you are moving to a beautiful area!!

MaureenMcG 08-05-2011 07:56 PM

Welcome to Ontario! I'm sure you'll find us Canadians very friendly. I'm in Ontario too, way down in the southwest.

lass 08-06-2011 07:28 AM

I moved last august and am not quite settled. a friend of mine who has moved multiple times says it takes about a year and a half to get back to your normal self. So be patient with wonderful you. and good luck.

MaureenMcG 08-06-2011 12:55 PM

Ha ha ha :o) - We actually spell it 'eh'. It's something we say that means 'don't you agree'. Like this Quilting Board is really fun and helpful eh? Devon will know she's been here long enough when she hears herself say it for the first time!

gus 08-07-2011 04:10 PM

Lindsay also has a great quilt show..along with Peterborough,Buckhorn. Minden and Belleville :)

Just think about what you want for a house & good mojo will make sure you find it. :)

Glad to know you made the trip well & with few problems.

glorcour 08-12-2011 11:11 AM

Hi Devon

I hope that your move goes smoothly and that you soon discover new Canadian friends that will get you involved in quilting and other activities. You might find things different for a while (We drive on the right side) and have some different names for things but all that aside we are much the same as our English friends.

Welcome

Gloria in Toronto

devon 09-27-2011 07:56 AM

well i've finally moved into our new home in lindsay, ontario. what a journey, i do not recomend living in a motel room for a month with 2 adults, 1 12yr old and 2 large dogs, but we are in a lovely turn of the century home. just need more furniture and its home.

Mornigstar 09-27-2011 09:28 AM

Wondered what happened to you but thought you were getting settled. Hope we can meet before I get packing for the south.

stichingqueen 02-07-2012 09:21 AM

I have been thinking about moving back to Canada myself. I was wondering if anyone here could suggest some movers to help me out. I have found a few companies, but I can no longer lift heavy objects and could use the extra help.
