Devon, I hope things turn out well for you and that you enjoy being in Canada. Right now, I know that you must be experiencing many mixed emotions.

In what part of Canada are you settling? I am on the East Coast.

sarahconner 08-04-2011 04:22 AM

Hang in there moving is stressful enough. I am sure moving to another country is more stressful. Remember grief will come with any change in your life. Be is a good change or diffcult change. Let the tears flow it will help.
Sending prayers for you.

Ripped on Scotch 08-04-2011 05:01 AM

Good luck on the move. I know that moving is stressful, but think of all the new friends you will make and all the new LQS's you get to explore. Maybe you will be close enough to visit the US one of these days. Welcome to North America.

xsquilter 08-04-2011 05:47 AM

Many good wishes for your move. Yes, do tell, where in Canada will you be moving to?

Yea! Ontario is happy to adopt you.

You'll be about a 2-1/2 hour drive from me. I'm NW of Toronto, whereas you'll be NE. I know there's others who post on here that are pretty much on your doorstep, and hopefully you can connect with them soon!

Shelbie 08-04-2011 07:43 AM

Lindsay is a really pretty area northeast of Toronto. I am northwest and could drive to Lindsay in about 2 hours. I think you should look for your closest quilt guild and join it. That way you`ll meet some new friends who share similiar interests. My good friend in my guild is originally from England and she is not one little bit sorry that she came to Canada for a temporary job transfer and stayed. Welcome.

Sheila_H 08-04-2011 08:02 AM

Welcome to Ontario - I'm in Ottawa Nation's Capital happy and safe travels to all including the quilt inspectors!

Kitsie 08-04-2011 08:12 AM

Where in Canada are you going, Devon? I wish you well and sometimes wish I was still back in Vancouver!

Oh, saw Toronto is to be your new home!

amma 08-04-2011 08:36 AM

Wishing you a smooth and uneventful move :D:D:D

allie1448 08-05-2011 02:53 AM

You will be very close to me!
I came here from Bromley in Kent just three years ago. I bought my two cat inspectors with me from the UK! You will love it here and once you are settled I would love to meet up if you would like to. I have loved being able to fully enjoy my quilting and sewing here and will happily show you where all the best stores are! lol Very best wishes and I shall be thinking of you as I know how emotional it is to take this huge step to a new life

It'll all work out. :)

Right now I would move to Canada just to get away from this awful Texas heat.

Hi Devon

And welcome to Canada. I live in Toronto but spend some time in Peterborough (close to Lindsay) where my daughter lives. There are many great quilt showsa, lots of quilt guilds and good people. I wish you a smooth transition and hope you enjoy your new home. Canadians are a pretty friendly lot.

Toronto is just an hour away and there is lots to do in this city. You might even become a Jays or Leafs fan.

Welcome to Canada! I hope your move goes well. I'm about 2-2.5 hrs from you...depending on traffic, construction, etc. I live in Hamilton & have driven to that area when my niece was attending Fleming College. I love that part of the world!
