Music in the Sewing room...

For those of you who listen to music in your sewing room:

What is on your playlist?

I told a friend I wanted a "Sewing Room Playlist".

She suggested I Fall To Pieces by Patsy and Crazy Train by Ozzy because they fit the hobby. :D

What are your suggestions?

mandyrose 06-09-2017 07:38 AM

love pasty cline songs but i have santana playing his music keeps me moving and in the groove lol!

Chasing Hawk 06-09-2017 07:51 AM

Well according to my Itunes I can listen to 2 days, 19 hours, 37 minutes and 6 seconds of music and not hear the same song twice!!

I have Country, Rock, Oldies, Alternative, R & B, Dance, Folk, New Age and the list goes on.

Some may have guessed I love music!

Doggramma 06-09-2017 08:21 AM

I have the Echo. Usually I play stuff like Perry Como or Michael Boublet or Johnny Cash. I've been trying to get it to play Pink, but it keeps going to Pink Floyd instead.

Pink and Pink Floyd. Oh so close! ;)

annievee 06-09-2017 09:55 AM

Like George Strait, Elvis, oldies. Most times I like the quiet and the sound of sewing machine running !

marge954 06-09-2017 01:05 PM

My list is kind of wonky. I'm 62 but love any music from big band to what's playing now.
George Strait is my man but lately it's Meghan Trainor, Charly Puth, Bruno Mars, twenty one pilots, The Chainsmokers, Santana, John Legend, Alabama Shakes, The Embers.
We have a Smart tv with surround sound so I pull up Youtube and listen to my play list:
Omi's "Cheerleader", Disturbed's "Sound of Silence, Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud, Lukas Graham's "7 Years",
R. City's "Locked Away",Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" (lots of curse words), Little Big Town's "Girl Crush, Ronnie Dunn's "Bleed Red", George Strait's "Three Nails and a Cross" and Troubador, Pharrell Willam's "Happy", Brooks and Dunn's "Believe" and Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again".

Pink Floyd and Pink are both great just a different listening experience.

Bneighbor 06-09-2017 01:12 PM

My echo playlist includes Patsy Cline, Elvis, The Canadian Tenors (LOVE these guys), bluegrass and a little Country Swing. Get mine through Pandora, so I get a mix of different artists.

osewme 06-09-2017 01:18 PM

I like true cowboy music, trail riding songs....like Don Edwards, Marty Robbins, Ian Tyson, Riders in the Sky, Dave Stamey, etc. My favorite is Don Edwards.
When I want calm I listen to Slack Key Guitar music.

I don't have ITunes or any such techie device. I listen on Pandora.

jmoore 06-10-2017 02:38 AM

I, too, have an iTunes account which comes through on a little Bluetooth Bose speaker. I have quite a few songs which I have downloaded but I generally listen to iTunes Radio in my sewing room...classic rock, singer songwriter and often times, Christian radio.

dmh 06-10-2017 03:08 AM

I love to listen to devotionals, and christian music. What an uplift!

sandy l 06-10-2017 03:12 AM

Any thing classical (Debussy, Holst, etc.) or the 40's big band and singers.

Jane Quilter 06-10-2017 03:23 AM

I am tone deaf, and not much for music. But I have the stitcher app and I listen to talk radio, like Handle on the Law, Dave Ramsey, CRTV, Hannity, Garden Shows and paranormal shows. Most/all of the ads are removed and it is enjoyable.

maviskw 06-10-2017 03:26 AM

I've been listening to books on my Mp3 player. I love that if the sewing is straight-forward. If there are problems or things that really need my attention, I need to turn it off for a while. I've been listening to a lot of the old classics: Tolstoy, Alcott, Dickens, etc.

WMUTeach 06-10-2017 04:02 AM

I listen to the Chieftains, Young Bloods, Wailing Jenny's and the High Kings. Modern folk, 1950's Christmas tunes, classical with oboe and strings (good for free motion quilting) and lots, lots, LOTS of audio books. Toss in a little Ricky Scags, some Union Station and my Pandora stations are humming all day long. Oh almost forgot Big Bad Voodo Daddy for cleaning up the sewing room. It sure keep me moving as I swing to the big band tunes. Happy listening all. We certainly are a diverse crowd.

juliea9967 06-10-2017 05:03 AM

I have Pandora which I have listened to for a couple of years. I have been faithful about giving the thumbs up for all the songs I enjoy. Now I have what is called a Thumbprint radio station, and that is what I listen to while sewing. Some of my very favorites are the Piano Guy, Andre Bocelli, George Straight, Willie Nelson, Barbara Streisand, etc., etc., etc.

lynnie 06-10-2017 05:19 AM

when i quilt at my friends house every tuesday, we normally listen to country

Tartan 06-10-2017 05:25 AM

No music in my sewing room because then I can't hear when I talk to myself.:D

lindaschipper 06-10-2017 05:31 AM

Tartan....too funny!! :D

momsbusy 06-10-2017 06:03 AM

I use Pandora for my music. I usually listen to the Singer/Songwriter channel. They play a lot of James Taylor and other seventies music.

Snooze2978 06-10-2017 07:05 AM

I have my IPOD set to play everything on it. Have from the 60's....Elvis, Roy Oberson, Gene Pitney,.....the 70's...Beach Boys, etc. to today's music.......IL Divo............country, rock, easy listening music, religious. As long as it sounds good I'll listen to it. But no "DRUG, violence" type music. I figure there's enough of that in this old world. Don't need to bring it into my sewing room too.

MaryRinWi 06-10-2017 07:18 AM

I'm probably the only one who listens to barbershop when I quilt. I learn new songs best by simple repetition, and find I can do both at the same time fairly successfully.

sak658 06-10-2017 07:25 AM

Merle Haggard all the time....loved that man....

ptquilts 06-10-2017 07:48 AM

I have very eclectic taste in music. In my new place I have no TV or stereo, but a boom box that plays CD's and cassettes, which I have both of. (it no longer picks up radio, as all radio stations now put out a digital signal, and it is not equipped for that). I also listen to music on Youtube on my laptop. So it might be anything from the Seekers, Junior Brown, opera, classical, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald...... not anything much from the last 35 years though.

Wanabee Quiltin 06-10-2017 07:49 AM

I love my audio books I pick up at thrift stores otherwise I am a rock and roller. Love "old time rock and roll" music.

sewbizgirl 06-10-2017 07:51 AM

In reading all of these I'd have to say my tastes are most similar to WMUTeach. I also love the Shins and all the bands like them that Pandora plays on their station.

Talk louder

Pat M. 06-10-2017 09:07 AM

I turn on the TV and listen to murder mysteries/cop shows/etc. the sound is low but I can hear it in the background. If I hear music I tend to sew to the beat of the music, not good for quilting, to fast and oops!!

Chasing Hawk 06-10-2017 09:36 AM

My husband was listening to a YouTube video with some nice calm music in the background. He said it was nice compared to the Acid rock and heavy metal along with the head banging mosh pit coming from my sewing room....lol

Tudey 06-10-2017 09:37 AM

It's hard for me to narrow it down to a list. My husband has a music server to which we downloaded all our CD's, so that they are on the computer and I can pull up anything I want. My musical tastes are kind of eclectic, so my "playlist" can change many times. It all depends on what I am in the mood for...but I like soundtracks from musicals, the Kingston Trio, Billy Joel, the list goes on!

Everything from the 50's - right through to the 90's. :)

I have Pandora on my Iphone, and when I want to have a peaceful afternoon, I put it on my chosen music. I asked a long time ago to have Jim Reeves and his type of music. Love it.

purplefiend 06-10-2017 03:46 PM

Elivis, Christian worship songs,The Beatles, Elton John.

Wonnie 06-11-2017 07:35 AM

I know, I know, I'm the original scrooge. Just give me 'the sound of silence' so I can throw open the windows and doors and hear the birds, sound of cars humming along the street, occasional dark barking, insects buzzing, flowers growing ...(okay, went a little crazy on THAT one) but, you get the picture!

Boston1954 06-11-2017 08:02 AM

My absolute number one, favorite singing group in history of music............The Monkees.

Jcarpentier 06-11-2017 08:14 AM

I usually put the radio on the Christian station here. My taste in music is quite eclectic though. I like everything from Classical to some metal. Though I am choosy if that makes sense...

Helen6869 06-11-2017 10:42 AM

I have a Sony CD player that holds 300+ cds. I have everything from Pavarotti, Alabama, Brad Paisley, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Kenny Rogers, and on, and on!! Love all kinds of music and am especially enamored by Adele at the present time. Can't imagine being in my sewing room without my music!! First thing I cut on and last thing I cut off. Part of the experience for sure!

zozee 06-11-2017 11:31 AM

More often than music, podcasts are what I put on. I like Pat Sloan on American Patchwork and Quilting, also Modern Sewciety, and whatever topic I'm in the mood for. Comedy on Youtube--Tim Hawkins, Jim Gaffigan, John Melaney, Mike Berbiglia, Nate Bargatze, and many others.

Musically, my tastes run the gamut. Billy Joel, Motown,Beach Boys, Rich Mullins, musical soundtracks, hymns, classical, pop, country (in small doses).

skaduzy 06-11-2017 06:45 PM

Old time rock and roll, Elvis, soundtracks from Mama Mia, Sleepless in Seattle, and You've Got Mail. Toby Keith, Keith Urban. Hallmark station on tv and I listen to the movies but don't watch the picture. :o
