My cat Mufasa (Moo Moo) loves to sew. What's up with that? Where ever I move on the table, he follows me. He likes to put his tail on the ruler when I'm trying to cut, but he especially likes to sit on the sewing machine when it's warm. He likes to twirl his tail around the needle, just ASKING for it! Grrrr... Is he purposely tormenting me? LOL
He loves me and I love him. ;) (Hope the pictures come up. This is the first time I've tried to post with pictures). Oy Vey!! This was a mad dash to get Christmas gifts done. He won't leave me alone. This is not a staged photo. LOL My daughter took this picture. |

When I first got my cat, Trouble, she would lay down on what ever I was sewing at the time. I solved the problem by setting up a lamp on the sewing table, near me, but not close enough to interfere with my sewing. Trouble could "bake" her fur , be close to me, and I could sew. The lamp has a heavy base, and an adjustable stand.

My sister's cats won't let her do crossword puzzles. They sit their big butts right on the paper. I could go on and on.......... LOL

MooMoo loves his MaMa.

I think everyone witha cat has been there!
that's why mine aren't allowed in the studio! how funny such a great pic! |
I was having the same problem this morning at the computer. Yum Yum kept inching her way closer until she was completely laying across both my arms. Makes it kinda hard to type. They dont bother me much when I am sewing because I sew on the kitchen table. The one surface in the house they know they are not allowed on. When I lay out my blocks it is a different story.

Yup, i think its a cat thing, mine we call the quilting kitty. he helps all the time, will sit beside the machine and reach out to help (pull) the fabric coming out the back...holds my ruler, protects the ironing board...checks to make sure i load things up right when i'm going to quilt...he also has very definite tastes...he loves red...i have made a couple quilts he has wanted nothing at all to do with, will not give them even a nod, others it's next to impossible to work on with out his constant 'interference'. some have been so (his) that i have to take them to work and work on them during breaks because i cant get anything done at home...it doesnt' work to try to shut him out he can reach the door nobs, and comes in anyway. i have always been (a dog person) never owned a cat before (my son had bad allergies growing up) so life with a cat has been new and different these past 3 years...cats are sure funny creatures! very entertaining...some days i know he just doesn't want me to sew...i have learned when it's 'his time' and when i can have some time...if i'm working on something he doesnt' like i can get lots done ;)

With the four I have now, there are five.... yes, five kitty beds in my sewing room! Some under lamps, one in front of the window, etc. Let's me get things done until they think its dinner time. If it's not 4pm yet, I tell them it's "too early! check the clock!" :-) |
Too much closeness sometimes.....hahahaha
|
This picture is wayyyyy to funny....love it. Kitty just wants to "Make" sure you are puuuuurfect sewing LOL

Here is my dh ironing some child apron straps for me with a little help from Willie! Not as invasive as your kitty, but cute!

The pictures are too funny!
We don't have a cat, but our dog, Lady, a Boston Terrier likes to lay on the rug that I have under my sewing chair. She lays within inches of the rolling feet so that when I move the chair to stand up I have accidentally rolled over one of her paws. But it doesn't stop her...she lays there the next time, too. I even went and bought her a bed and put her favorite quilt on it. I placed it underneath my sewing table so she could lay near me...but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...she has never once gone on the bed. LOL |
  I thought I was the only one that had a cat that wanted to help me sew!!! Was I wrong!!! I can't keep Tia off the ironing board, she has to lay on my fabric after I've got it ironed and folded in stacks on the end of the ironing board. I'm trying to cut fabric and up she jumps on the cutting table. I don't know how many times I've almost cut her tail!! She has a chair cushion on the end of the sewing table that she has to lay on whenever I'm in the sewing room, but when she wants attention, she'll get closer & closer to the sewing machine. She lays on my lap at times when I'm sewing just to be near me. She's ten yrs. old so this isn't a kitty thing that she'll outgrow. Cats are definitely a different breed & very entertaining!!!
Your first picture says it ALL!! A very priceless picture! |
It's not just cats. Try dogs too. Try sewing with a dog in your lap sniffing the sewing machine or fabric that you are trying to cut. . Or on the foot pedel.

I love your furry inspector and helper! Both my husband and I quilt and Charlie ensures all our seams are straight and correct and then insists on checking the project and giving his stamp/purr of approval once it is finished! lol
|
All of your stories are wonderful. This is really making my day. :)
|
Thanks so much for the great laugh. I loved all the pictures.

Although I didn't feel that way yesterday when big boy wouldn't get off my blocks LOL |
This thread is just adorable lol. I love animals. Cats love anything that moves and have to investigate it, especially if you, the mother are doing it.
I have dogs and just let me get on the phone, they start acting up. They want me right here in the studio quilting and then they all take their naps as dogs are wont to do..... |
That picture is the best one I have seen in a long time. Hilarious!!! He takes his job of supervising very seriously!!!
|
That is so-o-o-o funny!!!!!   I'm sure it can be pretty aggrevating, but you must admit it is hilarious!! :D

That pic is so funny. Looks like you was just beside yourself! LOL

Mine doesn't get on the machine table - for some reason she doesn't like heights - but will try and sit on my lap whilst I'm stitching. Her favourite 'help' is to sit on my lap when I'm trying to knit, then try and catch the needles and wool as they move.
|
that is soooooo funny!
|
Lve it. My cat is always with me when I'm sewing also, likes to lay right on top of what I'm working on.I wouldn't take anything for her, she's my baby.
