The wedding was set for 2 pm. We got there later than we planned. We were there at 1:45. The bride was still at her inlaws getting ready. They were using makeup to cover up her tattoos!!! They had taken all morning to do this and still weren't done!

I got several great shots outside while we were waiting on Nicole.

I have 20 photos so bear with me!! I actually took 60 but didn't want to bore you to tears!!!

Now Cody is Nathan's son by marriage (stepson) and by adoption We don't usually differentiate between the ones by blood or by marriage but it helps to understand the situation here if you know that.

Cody is marrying ( or actually has married now!) a girl Nicole who had Alisha 3 and was pregnant when Cody met her. So when Jayden was born Cody became Jayden's legal father.

He is doing the exact same thing Nathan did when Nathan married Cody's mom Jill

We are very proud of Cody. When Nathan married Jill he was only 19 and the kids were 4 6 and 8. Nathan became an instant dad to 3 kids at the age of 19. Now Cody is marrying Nicole and becoming an instant dad at 21. This makes Nathan a grandpa at the age of 32 and makes us great grandparents at the age of Glen 59 and me 53!!

The pics I took inside aren't as good as the ones outside. These are alittle grainy.

Nicole wanted Jayden to walk down the aisle but he sat down and refused to do it so the assistant had to carry him down the aisle.

When it was Alisha's turn as the flower girl she came in and looked at everyone and refused to go down the aisle!! She turned and wanted her mom to go with her!!! Jake (11)was off to the side and he took her hand and tried to get her to go and she kept hesitating. Grandma at the front of the church and a couple of others were urging her to go down the aisle but she wouldn't! So Jake gave in and was going to go down the aisle with her. About a third of the way down she shook off Jake's hand and informed him she didn't need his help!!! And she made it down the aisle amidst everyone's amusement!!!

Great pictures Rhonda. Glad you had a good time.

Rhonda 09-19-2009 05:11 PM

Thanks Bellaboo! I gave them money in a beautiful wedding card.

But behind the wedding card I tucked another card that was a 50th anniversary card and I wrote in it ---I expect to be at your 50th wedding anniversary!! Even if we will be 109 and 103 we will be there!!!

tlrnhi 09-19-2009 05:24 PM

What a great looking family!!! :)

Sheila Elaine 09-19-2009 05:38 PM

Rhonda, you have a beautiful family. Glad you did get pics & all of them are keepers. I'll go back & figure everyone out. I know you're bursting your button. You & Glen look like proud grandparents & great grands. Could you have imagined all this when you'll got married?

MollieSue 09-19-2009 05:38 PM

Wonderful pictures!!! You've got a great looking family!!!! :D

Rhonda 09-19-2009 05:47 PM

Thanks everyone and yes I am proud of all of them.

Sheila Elaine 09-19-2009 07:29 PM

Rhonda, the stories of Jayden & Alisha's antics is so cute. I don't blame them, I don't lilke crowds either. But, they did make it there with a little assistance. Now I kinda know what everyone looks like & they're all movie stars. Did anyone make videos, maybe at the reception? I'm sure you'll would have liked to stay, but totally understand the reason you didn't. I saw you jewelry in the pics & I'm so glad you found it. All in all, a great day though. Wonderful memories.

Iluv2quilt 09-19-2009 07:29 PM

Wonderful pics Rhonda! You look beautiful in purple! You must be so proud of your family. I'm glad DH did so well!

Rhonda 09-19-2009 07:49 PM

Thanks Suzie and Sheila. All of you guys should feel special. I never take pics of myself and definately never show pics of me. I don't look good in pics!!! I know you are all being kind but if I were 150 lbs lighter it would be a differant story!!

No I don't particularly feel bad about myself just know being heavy doesn't make for a good pic.

So I do appreciate the kind comments!! I even got a "You look really nice Grandma" from Tyler which shocked me! Boys that age don't usually notice things like that about their elders!! Did I say he is my favorite grandson now??? LOL

Eddie 09-19-2009 08:09 PM

What a great day, Rhonda. You're family is very blessed. Wishing many happy years together to the happy couple.

Rhonda 09-19-2009 08:43 PM

Thanks Eddie. I went from being my mom and dad and me to now there are 22 in my family! Of course my Dad has been gone for almost 20 yrs.

I count my blessings all the time!! And they include everyone on this board as well! I have been so blessed since finding this forum!!

Thank you all for the kind words about my family.

AAAAHHH, Rhonda, I love a good Wedding, and your pics prove this was a great wedding. You look the best kind of Grandma.....a Happy One!
The purple top suited you perfectly, and DH looked every bit the Happy Grandpa too.
I wish the happy couple a long, happy and contented marriage, and will keep my fingers crossed that you will both be there at their Golden Wedding! (Wiping the odd tear from the corner of my eye - everyone cries at a wedding, don't they?)

Esqmommy 09-20-2009 07:50 AM

Thanks for posting all the photos of your lovely family Rhonda!! Everyone looks so sweet and happy. Aren't weddings just great??!!!

Thanks Rachael. It was a little strange to have my first grandchid getting married. I kept thinking about my kids weddings. Especially Nathan's. He and Jill got married in the same church and I had this mental image of Cody and Tyler standing in the aisle when Nathan and Jill got married. They were 8 and 4 at the time! White shirts black pants / black vest and a black string tie. It was so surreal for me. The past and the present mingling. I mentioned it to the boys and they remember that day too.

I found a few pics of Nathan's wedding 12 years ago in the same church. Now you can see what memories were going through my head yesterday!

Awww Rhonda, what a beautiful group of wedding pictures!!!Thank you for including descriptions and stories of the wedding. Bless Zach...I don't blame him for not wanting to get married!!! And a wedding wouldn't be a wedding if one of the little ones didn't do something cute during the ceremony
You have a wonderful family Rhonda!!! I wish the newly weds a very long and happy life together!!! :D :D :D

Thank you for sharing the photos of you and your amazing family! It is always nice to see the real person we are chatting with here on the board. Givng the background helps put things in perspective. I had read some of this before, but my remembery is not as good as it once was! I can relate to Zach not getting married, so he didn't need to be there!
I wish the best for you and your whole family!
May you be there for many more weddings and births for your growing family.

Love the cake topper! My brother had a similar one on his cake a couple years ago!

Mousie 09-20-2009 06:36 PM

Rhonda, a lovely wedding, and girlfriend, you looked great!
So funny about Alisha...made me think of Funniest Home Videos...a little girl got quite irritated when the boy was supposed to take her hand to lead her...you couldn't hear her, but you sure knew what her hands and face were saying!
Zach was right, wasn't her? He wasn't getting married!
(maybe he already figures, one wedding will be enough!)
So cute, that you gave the bride and groom a 50th card!
Weddings are so beautiful and lots of memories...but I'm glad my three are all settled in...it was a lot of work!
Thanks for sharing all these wonderful pictures, and again, you looked beautiful :D

Rhonda 09-20-2009 07:15 PM

Thanks QC I appreciate the compliments and kind words! I am obviously proud of my grands and my kids. I was raised around my mom's 13 brothers and sisters and my dad's 3 brothers and their families. We had lots of get togethers and spent a lot of time at each others houses. It seems like everyone is so busy anymore they don't do much of this anymore. So I really appreciate the opportunity to see everyone when we do get together. Especially since I am an only child.

My DH and I definately enjoyed the day. My two sons had a falling out recently over work. Glen quit the job he had with Nathan's Co.- Woodsmall Electric and there were harsh words and problems with how Glen left. and there are still some not so great feelings so I am just glad Glen came to his nephews wedding and both Nathan and Glen talked to each other without any negativity. They are still learning and growing and I am glad they could both put their feelings aside for the day.

Bevanger 09-21-2009 05:13 AM

Awwwwwwww such precious pictures. Congrats to the couple. :D Thanks for sharing your pics :D

Esqmommy 09-21-2009 05:25 AM

Loved the next two sets of photos - your son's wedding - wow, it's like groundhog day!! Everyone looked so "cool" - Isn't it wild going back in time? Your hair was much shorter too or was it pulled back?

Glad it was such a fun time.

BTW, my in-laws are both only children too. There are now 6 kids (including us "peripherals') and 6 grandkids and they love it! We have family functions fairly often and I know they feel so blessed to have so much family around them.

Rhonda 09-21-2009 07:03 AM

Thanks everyone. Esqmommy Nathan was into horses and country music at the time he married Jill. I had a cool pic of Nathan and his groomsmen in their black vests and black slacks and all were wearing their black cowboy hats standing on the front steps of the church but I couldn't find it!

Yes they were very "cool" back then. Nathan was chubby as a teenager then when he was 18 and 19 and running around with his friends he lost the chubbiness. He started smoking when he was 16 much to my distaste. He tried to quit when Jake was born but didn't stay off them. He was skinny then. When he and his uncle started Woodsmall Electric two years ago they and the guys who worked for them made a pact to quit smoking and he is now smoke free. But he has really gained the weight! THey live in motel rooms most of the time on the road on job sites and eat in restaurants too much. Tho Nathan does take a crock pot with him and sometimes he rents an apartment for all the guys to stay in while they are on a job that will last for several weeks and then he cooks more often than going to restaurants.

Just a quick funny! Nathan made several dishes for the rehearsal supper. He called me for a brush up on how to make potato salad. How long to cook etc. He asked me how long to cook the eggs. I said at least 5 min I prefer at least 10 min. He asked " So 40 min is ok right?" He had already cooked them that long!! I just hope they weren't rubbery!! I forgot to ask how it came out!!

I just remembered to look in another album and found this pic of the guys in their hats. Not the one I was thinking of bit is shows the hats.

Here is Nathan with his horse Apache. He was an Arabian yearling. Very sweet horse. Apache's only fault was he liked to lean into you and "Lay" on you!

Oh Rhonda the wedding cake was awesome, love the topper on it!!!
How fun to ride off on their bike, too!!! What a great wedding!!!! :D :D :D

Great additonal photos too!!!
A trip down memory lane is always quite fun!!!

Iluv2quilt 09-21-2009 10:32 AM

I love that cake!! So cute, made me smile.

It's so nice to read about how close your family is. I think family is the most important thing, not that I was raised that way. It's something I've always craved, having a close knit family. I'm that way with my DH and kids and his family, but my family is purely professional. Each one has a degree and a very good job, my mother was a professor and my brothers and sisters mostly teachers. Me? Well that's another story, black sheep describes me well. I moved here to get closer to my DM & DD and that has happened, but one of my sisters and one brother live here and I never see them. So anyway, sorry so long. I think your family closeness is awesome!!! :D
