Love the tip! I buy fitted sheets with damask stripes so I can tell how they should go on the bed. LOL!

Ditto Rhonda K's post!

Elderly friend put safety pin in waistband as it helped her distinguish her black ones from her navy ones. She was boarding a plane & kept setting off the metal detector until it dawned on her it was the pin. She loved telling that story.

Thank you! I'm going to stick a safety pin on the fitted sheet that's on my bed right now! I can't begin to tell you the trouble I have with full-size sheets. To my old eyes, they look the same size on all directions!

On fitted sheets, I note which corner the label is sewn into and which corner it fits onto. From then on, that is where I start when making up the bed.

For quilts, I have gotten in the habit of always putting the label in the bottom left corner of the backing. This then is the corner that I put on my side of the foot of the bed.

Great tip, I have one quilt I use its not quite square so this maybe a way to mark the slightly longer way when matching up with my electric blanket.

My bed is square so the sheets are square. So any way the fitted sheet goes on fits, thank goodness. Little things like that add up, either to be a dreaded chore or one that no one minds doing.

Great idea! I also remember reading a tip where the quilter used a striped backing or put a strip of piecing (or another fabric) down the length of the backing. She easily knew which way the quilt went on the bed because of the vertical stripe/s on the backing.

I sew a scrap piece of fabric on to the sheets rather than a safety pin. It seems safer to me just in case it comes undone.

We finally realized and did something like this with our fitted sheets. Good tip, we need more from our ancestors. They knew how to get things done.
