Many of you may remember me talking about Kitty, my close friend . I am still in shock my quilting buddy and friend who lived next door had a heart attack and died the day before yesterday. She was coming back from a quilting event with her guild and just when they got back to thier cars she had the heart attack.

I am so very sad. She was in her early sixties. There is no words to describe the feeling... What a dear wonman she was. I got so much inspiration from her. The guild is putting on the memorial soon.

Her daughter is alone now. Her dad passed exactly one year ago.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Pam 05-29-2010 05:25 AM

Oh, I am so very sorry. A loss like this is hard. You have my sympathies. ((((((HUG)))))) Pat, pat, sniffle. Just thinking about it wants to make me cry.

raptureready 05-29-2010 05:26 AM

My sympathies and prayers are with you. I lost my bff last November to cancer. But, the one good thing (if there is any light in something like this) is that God allowed her to leave doing something that she truly loved.

Rebecca VLQ 05-29-2010 05:28 AM

Oh, big hugs! :( It's so hard to lose someone you love!

craftybear 05-29-2010 05:30 AM

you will be in my thoughts and prayers along with her family

bearisgray 05-29-2010 05:40 AM

((hugs))

It's hard to lose a playmate.

RedGarnet222 05-29-2010 05:45 AM

I guess the trip to sacramento was too much for her. She was diabetic and overweight.

Thank you all for your sweet sympathies. I just had to talk to someone this morning.

The last thing we said to each other as she left my home walking away down my front walk way was ... "I love you kitty and she said I love you too sandy."

quiltinghere 05-29-2010 05:47 AM

Terribly sorry to hear of your loss :(

((((((((Sandy)))))

bkb 05-29-2010 05:50 AM

Take comfort in your last words to each other. My close friend died a month ago and her sons said that while in ER she kept calling for me. I don't know why the boys didn't call me cause I'd been there for sure. Hugs to you.

Quilt Mom 05-29-2010 05:53 AM

So sorry to hear of your loss. It is hard to lose a friend.
Is her daughter near, that you can possibly share the good memories of your friend with her? It may help both of you to be able to talk.
My prayers are with you.

Deara 05-29-2010 05:57 AM

My prayers are with you Sandy.
May God put his comforting arms around you and Kitty's daughter as well.
Blessings to you,
Sandi

Hugs! So sorry for your loss!

RedGarnet222 05-29-2010 06:07 AM

She brought over kitty's sewing machine for me yesterday. She said she thought her mom would want me to have it. (I am paying for it) I feel a little odd that happened so quickly. But, her daughter is packing up her house already because she lives a couple hours from here and works. So, she left last night.

I was able to give her the security codes to arm the alarm on the house. She didn't have them, so I am glad I could help her a little.

MamaBear61 05-29-2010 06:09 AM

Thoughts and prayers to you and to your friend's daughter at this very difficult time.

aww, red, big (((((HUGS))))), dearheart.
We had a family member go from a massive heart attack like that, and it is a real shock, when they are what we think of 'as too young'.
I'm so sorry her DD is without both of her parents now, and you are without your good friend. We all love you too.

RedGarnet222 05-29-2010 07:04 AM

((Hugs)) back to you all for being so kind. I feel so lost without my bud.

Sandy, I'm so sorry. Kitty sounds like she was a wonderful friend. I'm also very glad you shared it here with us so we can all comfort you. Are you going to sew something small to put in her casket? I have done that before and it gave me great peace. {{{{hugs}}}}}

sew4fun 05-29-2010 09:38 AM

So sorry to hear this. Sounds like you had a great quilting friend.

Jim's Gem 05-29-2010 09:43 AM

I am so sorry to hear this!!!!
My condolences to her daughter and you as her friend!!!

RedGarnet222 05-29-2010 10:26 AM

I thank you all for being here for me during such a hard time. I have to tell the truth, I am very much of a loner. I have had few really close friends in my life and kitty was one of them. That isn't to say I don't know many people from my church and when I was in school. But close friends have been few and select.

She was a very wonderful person and as much as you can love another person who is your friend, I loved her.

JanetM 05-29-2010 10:39 AM

You have my sincere sympathy on the loss of your special friend.

DebraK 05-29-2010 10:56 AM

sincere condolences. No one knows when it will come. She died doing one of her favorite things. That's not so bad for her, but i feel for your loss and experience.

MadQuilter 05-29-2010 11:42 AM

Aw, that's sad. Hope she had a good time in Sacramento as her last trip. We lost our neighborlady a few years ago in similar circumstances and we now have her horse - Merle. I think Emma would be happy about that and your friend would be happy that the sewing machine went to a good home as well.

pookie ookie 05-29-2010 12:04 PM

So sorry. Sad.

JoanneS 05-29-2010 12:39 PM

I'm so sorry for your loss, RG. Her daughter will need all of you to be her moms now.

canmitch1971 05-29-2010 01:16 PM

I am so sorry RedGarnet.

purplemem 05-29-2010 01:29 PM

I am so sorry, RedGarnet. The loss of a good friend is heartbreaking. I am crying for you and with you.

I have good quilty buddies and don't want that to happen, even though it is inevitable. I hope you find comfort and solace in your shared experiences.

Hugs,
MJ
