Ok guys I need some help, I am trying to find a Zhu Zhu Hamster for my wife and I do not want to pay scalper prices. Why she wants one I have no idea other than she says they are cute. So I am going to try and find her one.

I dont mind paying a little extra for getting one but $25 to $30 for an $8 toy is nuts.

I know some of our members work at Walmart so the chances of you finding one will more than likely happen before I find one. And maybe someone will bump into one out on their errands. Either way I need one for my wife so if you can help me out that would mean the world to me. This is the only thing she has really said she wants for Christmas.

Just so I dont seem like a cad she is getting something else substantial for Christmas, but this is the one thing that she is asking for and has been hinting at for the last month. I have been looking but I havent found one yet. :-(

Thanks again

Billy

I looked here for a few friends. Kmart, and the Navy Exchange, along with the Air Force Exchange are out.
I don't have many places to shop...Kmart, being one of the main places other than the base....
I sure hope you find one, but I'm thinking these are in such high demand, it'll take alot of footwork/shopping to find one.
I wish you luck!!!

Try this link, toysrus appears to still have them.

Out of stock, just like Walmart, and Target, etc. at least online.

Walmart says the stores have them but trying to get one is like trying to find a brand new 1921 Singer 66 in a treadle.

I am trying to check online ever so often hoping that they will stock them and I can get my mits on one. Thats why I figured if I can get all of us looking for one then my chances will be very good in pulling off the impossible.

Stocking stuffers gotta love them.............

Sorry!

Try looking at your local CVS or Walgreens drug stores. I have heard that they have them. I am lucky, neither one of my DD's or DGD want one.

I saw some on Walmart.com AND Amazon.com
(A friend was looking for her girls)

Lostn51 12-02-2009 08:51 AM

All of the websites like Walmart and Target etc. are sold out. I went to the Target here by my house and they said every other day they get a shipment of 24 and they are gone in 10 minutes or less. Tomorrow morning they are getting a shipment so I will be there before they open. the guy said there were at least 30 folks waiting in the parking lot this morning to get one.

I can't imagine why these are so hot. But then again, Cabbage Patch dolls and Tickle Me Elmo didn't trip my trigger either.

Good luck, Billy!

(Maybe that trip my trigger comment should be over in the "phrases that puzzle me" thread.)

beachlady 12-02-2009 09:26 AM

How about getting her the real thing?? LOL

Knot Sew 12-02-2009 09:43 AM

two of my grankids want them 8 dollars is all I will pay.....so if you find them...Walmart here says they are not available....being made in China.....The toy just moves and backs up.....they want you to buy all the accesories.... I don't think kids are all that interested...see mostly adults that want them for adults.....The kids want the interactive toy that has a life on the computer...they are cute...good luck on the toy hunt

Lostn51 12-02-2009 11:04 AM

I am going to look for some tonite in the we hours of the morning at Wally world just to see if I can find one.

Kinda reminds me of looking for Hot Wheels Years ago when I collected them.

Billy

littlehud 12-02-2009 07:13 PM

It's the one toy my DGD asked for this year. I still will not pay $40 for a $8.99 toy. She will get it later.

ladybugquilter 12-02-2009 09:27 PM

If you don't have any luck at target try ebay. I just got one for my niece brand new in the box for $28. I know more than in the store, but when you are 8 you really want Santa to come thru:)

Shemjo 12-02-2009 09:43 PM

I have not seen one in person. It is made by a St. Louis company, but they are rare here also. Good Luck!

earthwalker 12-03-2009 12:33 AM

Good luck with your quest..if all else fails, get her a real Guinea Pig (they are a bit more cuddly than real Hamsters and don't smell). Can't these stores take a small deposit and hold one for you 'til you can pick it up?

reneebobby 12-03-2009 05:49 AM

Good luck never even heard of one, but I can see why she wants one, she doesn't have to feed it or pick up poop.

Lostn51 12-03-2009 08:25 AM

She told me that one of the reasons she wants one is to see how our dogs react to it. We have 2 Poms, an Chihuahua, and an Irish Setter so it would be funny watching all of them trying to play with it. But she says they are cute and I always get her some kinda silly thing to put in her stocking every year.

reneebobby 12-03-2009 08:32 AM

HOw sweet, good luck in finding one.

Knot Sew 12-03-2009 10:50 AM

I saw a bunch of them on a morning news show...they sound like a key wind and act like them they went about 3 ft and thats it...one would not move at all. They are a cheap fuzz over tin or plastic....the inventer was in the US...but production is all china. Get them the dacing hamsters and the other one later

mochasue 12-03-2009 12:56 PM

I just couldn't imagine. I guess I'm old.

earthwalker 12-03-2009 06:57 PM

Oops..irresponsible of me to recommend a real animal when it is going to be for the dogs to interact with! I do not advocate the use of live pets for doggy amusement. If you can't get the hamster thingo, have you seen those little ferret things that roll around with a ball...they are quite cheap and look quite realistic.

tuesy 12-03-2009 10:22 PM

I'm heading to the BX tomorrow, so I'll check out there for ya.

Lostn51 12-04-2009 07:49 AM

Sweet I will keep my fingers crossed for the both of us!

Target had some the other morning but they were allowing 2 per customer and there was like 15 of us there to get them. Me being the gentleman I am I let a couple of ladies go ahead of me when I was at the door and by the time it came to me they were all gone.

Oh well there is always next time! :D  :D

Billy

Baren*eh*ked_canadian 12-04-2009 09:11 AM

oh man, that would have frustrated me!

tuesy 12-04-2009 09:24 AM

Billy, I'm sorry, there were none at the BX.

Lostn51 12-04-2009 09:31 AM

Rats.....I mean Hamsters..................

Thanks for looking for me :D

Billy

ohmisslizzie 12-04-2009 04:30 PM

tlrnhi 12-05-2009 04:47 AM

I'm headed to the exchange again tomorrow. Was told they are restocking some departments but they aren't saying which ones. I'll look for ya

They're about 50 miles from me... but with it being online I would think you'd have a better chance.. no pushing or shoving.. just be faster with your fingers! . I hope you get one..we don't want any poo on the Zhu Zhu.. then you'd have a smelly hamster!..

Lostn51 12-05-2009 06:54 PM

They said they would have them at 10 am tomorrow morning so I have already registered and am ready to get me one! Fortunately I have Comcast high speed so I can zip in and out really fast and snipe the next guy LOL.

Thanks for the tip and I will be sure to post the results tomorrow morning if I was able to score one.

sewfunquilts 12-06-2009 08:40 AM

good luck finding one.....they are going for outrageous prices on Ebay.

tlrnhi 12-09-2009 03:32 AM

WELL??? did you get one?
I looked at both exchanges and nothing.......

beachlady 12-09-2009 03:56 AM

You must really love your wife and that is a good thing! Did you get it yet?

sandpat 12-09-2009 05:50 AM

I heard that...thought it might slow down the sales a little bit...but probably not.. :?
