Mystery gadget
 

We had new floors installed and because they had to remove the old marble tiles and then grind the cement under them, the whole house was covered in dust, even inside closed cabinets so I had to literally wash every single item in my sewing room. wow, are there any product numbers on it? might help i search. I'm thinking some sort of bobbin holder...

That center hole does look like a bobbin fits in there. I just don't understand the purpose of the plastic springy thingy around it.

Pure guess -- for filling a bobbin with silk ribbon.

Of course if you throw it away, you'll find out very shortly what it was for and that it was important :p

Edit: I did try a google image search and got suggestions for "table". LOL sometimes it works better than others.

Looks like it would snap onto a toy yoyo for a visual effect.
