I do like the white background. I have retina issues and it's really easier for me to read.

AliKat 11-04-2011 11:05 AM

It is much easier to do a post. No more brackets to indicate BOLD, italics, underlline, or other font changes such as style and color.

Yes, there are some points I'm not happy about, but figure I'll learn my way around sooner rather than later.

If I can't figure something out after 3 days, it is time to move on. I religiously read the board before the change. It was easy to figure out. This new board is just too difficult for me. With my fibromyalgia I don't need any more stress. Sorry.

What if I don't know what the fonts look like? Do I have a setting turned off, that allows me to make these changes?

Probably. In your General Settings, the Message Editor Interface needs to be set on Enhanced.

If I remember correctly...
If your web browser allows you to use this feature:
1. Click on settings
2. Click on General Settings
3. At the bottom of the page Select Enhanced Interface
4. Click on Save at the bottom of the page;)

I like this setting too since I can now set my font and color different from yours when I reply to your post with quotes.
Makes it so much easier to read who said what.

I didn't have that at first, but read a suggestion on changing setting to "enhanced interface". I did that and it opened up a new world of fun options and made posting photos much easier.

Go to settings--top right; then to general settings--scroll down list on left. Now scroll to Misc settings and check enhanced interface. See below----Make sure to save changes.

Miscellaneous Options

Message Editor Interface:
• Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing
• Basic Editor - A simple text box
• Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls

I don't like anything about the new board.

Really? You can't come up with a single thing you like?

bjchad 11-04-2011 01:54 PM

I like that the designers are responding to user comments. Now that I found the mobile setting so the font size is reasonable ( I access via my iPad mostly) I'm doing a lot better. I too like that some of the forums have subsections. I am not finding basic navigation any more difficult than before. Haven't looked at some of the advanced features yet but suspect they will be interesting and good.

Fraew 11-04-2011 03:04 PM

I had no idea that the signature that I created (just a week ago mind you) meant so much to me...but it's back! It's back!!! Did I say that it is back!!!! :)

Fraew 11-04-2011 03:14 PM

OK it was just there a few minutes ago...that's what I get for being so excited!

Why no double posts? If you have more than one post about something, you get a feel for what is the most favored or least.

I like seeing members helping each other and sharing tips.

I learned just from reading this thread.

Scraps 11-04-2011 04:35 PM

I love the idea of separating recipes/patterns/etc etc into folders ------havn't done it yet, but its there. Love being able to hover with cursor to get an idea of content before opening. There are a lot of behind the scenes upgrades that we don't appreciate and one probably is security.

Mitch's mom 11-04-2011 06:12 PM

It's V-Bulletin. I love it.

jean1941 11-04-2011 06:19 PM

From what I have seen I do not like the old one was ok and easy to use why does everyone think that new is better.

PatriciaAnn 11-04-2011 09:51 PM

I don't like anything about the new board I have lost all my bookmark's I had saved

Peckish 11-04-2011 10:06 PM

I love love LOVE the preview feature - that is awesome! There were soooo many complaints about generic titles on the old board; this will fix that, and it saves us a lot of time and frustration.

I'm not having the same issues that a lot of others seem to have - I didn't have to create a new membership, I've not had a problem logging in and staying logged in, my bookmarks are still there, and I'm rather enjoying snooping around the board. It's kind of like when you go house-hunting, and behind every door is something new.

wanda lou 11-04-2011 10:42 PM

Sorry I don't like anything about the new board.

annthreecats 11-04-2011 11:34 PM

I like having my own blog and the picture album. Both are pretty cool.

blahel 11-05-2011 07:55 PM

I like the fact that I am a Super Member....ok now what superpowers do I have?

MollieSue 11-06-2011 06:15 PM

I love how all the members are quickly helping each other learn the new ways! I wish the help wouldn't have been needed though..... The 'old board' was so user friendly!
:) :)

Stitchnripper 11-06-2011 06:32 PM

Here's what I just learned. If you use the "go advanced" feature you can see all the replies to a thread listed one right after the other. Easier to read.

Lormito 11-07-2011 05:56 PM

I do like that they got rid of the "stark white" background. However, after a week I find myself on this board less and less.

AZTeri 11-07-2011 06:59 PM

Someone already mentioned folders - I like that also. I can sort my bookmarks/favorites/subscriptions into folders that make much more sense for me now, instead of having to go through them all to find the, for example, tutorials or patterns I want to make. I like that I can go immediately to the first unread thread, instead of slogging through pages and pages of posts that I've already read.

Greenheron 11-07-2011 07:09 PM

I am very glad the ads are not jumping.

ogama 11-07-2011 08:20 PM

The people that have stayed and are helping me try to find my way around our new home. i will get use to it in time. but then it took me more than a day to learn to drive also. or even quilt for that matter. there is things i dont lke but with time i will get on to it i am sure. i am not on as much as i would like to be to learn faster but then that nasty 4 letter word "work" is in my way. lol. i do find it kind of funny that some of the ones that said they left this board still post on other boards the tut's from here. thanks i know that change is hard but if we stick together we will make it.
blessings to all ogama

TnBecky 11-26-2011 06:08 PM

Okay memebers here it is again - "The name one thing you like about the new board". Have fun posting here what you like. This thread was forgotten so I wanted to bring it to the ones who "like". :D

fred singer 11-26-2011 06:22 PM

Thank-you all for our freedom to be able to make choices. keep a positive attitude .

What I like is that most are trying to adapt to a forced-upon us change. At my age I realize that change is good, yet getting older is not fun unless we have friends to help us and continue to learn. The techie world is here to stay and true quilting friends are located here. Regardless of how we must change in finding them, we must try if we want to continue to share our quilting passion. I, along with many others, have few alternatives. If these changes also made it a more secure site, then we should be thankful. Unfortunately, I do find myself visiting less often.
