Spiders in the bedroom. I make the husband kill them which he laughs at "you afraid it will kick you to death?". If he's away on business and I find a spider in the bedroom, I'll sleep on the sofa that night.
Somehow I'm OK with them when they're outside and just "sitting" there, and I can kill one in any other room. But there is NO WAY I'm going to bed with a spider in the bedroom, and I can't kill it. This phobia came about when I was kid and shared a bed with my sister. I saw a Daddy Long Legs on the wall when we went to bed and teased my (older) sister. Sister always slept with her mouth wide open. Yup. When I woke up I saw the spider sitting on her tongue. Oh god ... now I got the heebie jeebies and I'm going to have to check every inch of the bedroom. WHY did I read this post at 10:24 PM? |

For me, it's spiders, snakes and very high heights. I'm okay with flying, also routine bridges and overpasses, but the ones spanning mountainsides way up near the tops of the mountains... noooo. Riding a ski lift? Nuh-uh. My other major phobia is having anyone touch my eyes. Eye doctors cannot do it. Eye surgery? Never gonna happen. Yeah, they can put me out or paralyze me, but I'm sure I'd wake up insane from the horror of it. or lose my eye because I'd jerk no matter how well they paralyzed me or strapped me down. |
Freeways....I can ride on them, drive on them if there's somebody else in the car....but not by myself. Even on anti-anxiety drugs I still can't. And I can get anxious even driving on busy roads on the way home from work...7.5 miles and a straight shot home.

1. High places (I can only go up to the 3rd step on a ladder),
2. small spaces like closed MRI machines, 3. I seem to be in the beginning stages of germ-a-phobe. I have a large bottle of hand sanitizing gel in my purse at all times now. 4. re-marriage-phobe :) :) |
