I am starting a longarm quilting business. I have everything set up, I think, but I cannot think of a name. My name is Theresa. I live in Georgia. I asked my family for ideas and my husband and SIL suggested The Crazy Quilter. I don't crazy quilt so I didn't know if this was appropriate.
Help! I need some ideas. Anybody have anything creative? I am stuck.

Just Peachy Quilting?

greenini 05-18-2011 09:10 AM

Do you favor feathers or meandering or loops? Maybe the Loopy Quilter or the Meandering Quilter or Feather Lady or Quilter? Squash any of them together as one word, something like that. Good luck with your business.

4EVERquilt 05-18-2011 09:10 AM

do they call you terri for short? How about Terri's creations?

Jammin' Jane 05-18-2011 09:11 AM

I like The Loopy Quilter

erstan947 05-18-2011 09:17 AM

I like the name to tell you what the business is about. I would include "Longarm quilting" or "custom quilting" in the name.

charmpacksplus 05-18-2011 09:19 AM

Whatever you choose, be sure to Google it first. The name might already be taken.

QuiltnCowgirl 05-18-2011 09:22 AM

Are there any other longarm businesses in the area? I would want my name to be distinctly different from theirs. Another thing (and I'm probably the odd gal out on this) is that I don't like to see businesses that use the owner's name. Just too home-grown, mom & pop for me. To me a well thought out business name says "professional".

So now that I've told you all that...I now have to admit that I am not very good at coming up with suggestions for names :?

wvhill22 05-18-2011 09:25 AM

i don't have a name for you but are you close to Newnan?

glassnquilts 05-18-2011 09:27 AM

Thanks for the replies. I like several of them. I am not very near Newnan. I am in Powder Springs.

starshine 05-18-2011 09:33 AM

What about using finishing in the name?

Or just Peachy Quilting. Best of luck in the new adventure.

I agree. People shouldn't have to guess as to what you are doing! Good luck with the business

Another thing to keep in mind- phonebook/listing

When we had the flower shop in this small town, there was already 2 here. Their names start with a "P" and "T". We named ours "Desert Bloom". When it came to wire orders (Teleflora, 1-800 flowers, etc), we got most of the business because we were top of the listing.

I like 'Powder Springs Quilting". Powder Springs sounds so picturesque to me!

LindaaJR 05-19-2011 06:42 AM

Have you looked at any ads in quilt magazines that might give you an idea to work from in nameing your business? See what key word seems to be in the title of other companines. Good luck with your business. Take care.
Linda
P S a slogan I thought of "Let my long arm reach your quilting" Dumb??? LOL

I totally agree--using your name shouts "non-professional." Pretend you will soon have shops across the world--"Peachy Quilts" just wouldn't do it--IMHO-- think of adjectives that could describe you anywhere---like Distintive Quilting or Distintive Long Arm Quilting, or Exquisite, or Creative, or Artisan, or Free Expression, or Finishing Touch, or.....? Thesaurus is a wonderful tool.
Good luck. I know that finding a name that suits YOU is a really difficult process---until you commit to one, and then names will be jumping out at you from everywhere!

Zappycat 05-19-2011 07:53 AM

I like Just Peachy Quilting too. It's cute and catchy. You can always add a second line on your business cards or ads... like Tender Loving Quilting for your precious heirlooms (or something along those lines!) Good luck to you!

Valerie Scherr 05-19-2011 08:37 AM

I like the name to have quilting in it therefor if someone does a search it pops up so I think Terri's Longarm Quilting is the one I would choose.

wichypoo 05-19-2011 08:44 AM

How about Professional Longarm Of Georgia
or Artistic Longarm Services.
Or Great Finishes, Longarm quilter.

Nolee 05-19-2011 09:40 AM

I am an herbalist and named my business "Isle of Herbs." When you say it, people think you are saying "I love Herbs." I got the idea from a writer who named her book "Isle of View.' CUTE, huh? You might want to think about "Isle of Quilts" or something similar. Where in Georgia are you? We are traveling there in a few weeks and my daughter lives in Cumming. Are you near there? I might use your services.

Nolee 05-19-2011 09:42 AM

That's a GREAT one!!!!

I would try and use something that starts at the beginning of the alphabet. That way anyone googling or looking it up in the phone book would see it at the top or close to it. A Professional Quilter comes to mind but that's just a thought. I'm not much at coming up with names.

glassnquilts 05-19-2011 10:13 AM

Great ideas coming in. I like several and am trying to choose. Keep em coming.

I like the adjectives you came up with!

Artisan Longarm Quilting
Exquisite Longarm Quilting
Finishing Touch Longarm Quilting

(all 3 are at the beginning of the alphabet too!)

That is a good idea, too, about the alphabet. I wouldn't have thought about that!
