Try coke (cleans battery acid off terminals)I've never used it though because I use oven clean for burnt on stuff like that on glass.

Try soaking the bottom in vinegar. Leave over night. Apple cider vinegar works best, but white vinegar might work. Vinegar is a great cleaning product.

Have you tryed using baking soda? You can make a paste and apply it to the bbq sauce. Leave it on for a few hours then rinse. I have taken off baked on things from cake pans to pots. Maybe this will help and it is cheap. You may have to do it serveral times. good luck!

I never use the slow cooker or dutch oven or roast pan with out spraying it FIRST with spray oil. No scrubbing necessary to clean it, no liners needed, and it works well to prevent foods sticking to the pans. I use the cheapest spray oil I can find.

All the suggestions have been great, and I think they just might work if you want to take the time to do them. I think I would replace the crock itself and forget about cleaning it.

Have you tried vinegar? I use that to remove hard water build up. Cover the effected area & let it soak, it may take a few days but worth a try.

Fill the crock about 2/3 full of water, add a squirt of dish soap, cover and turn on low for 8-10 hours---should come clean easily!

Try spraying oven cleaner and allow to sit before scrubbing again.
