I am looking to either buy a Janome 8050 or a Bernette 65. If any of you have these machines which would be the best. Also, in the photos I noticed the Bernette 65 has a blanket stitch which I use often, but didn't see it on the Janome. Does the Janome have the blanket stitch as well?

It should, I have the 6600 it has an applique stitch that looks to me like the blanket stitch. It looks exactly like the embroidery blanket stitch.

My Janome 8077 has a blanket stitch as well.

Janome is more user friendly. I have a 2007 DCLE and it has the most amazing blanket stitch. Just love it.

I wouldn't get a Bernette. It is not at all comparable to a Bernina! Janome has a better reputation than Bernette.
If you are thinking of the blanket stitch for machine applique, I actually prefer a hem stitch. Blanket stitch is one straight stitch followed by one zigzag, I think; hem stitch is three straight stitches followed by one zigzag. Don't know about the blanket stitch, but to use the hem stitch I have to mirror image the stitch. (Not all sewing machines will have this feature.) |
No help on a comparison here...Bernina has totally replaced and upgraded the Bernette line. I love the new ones. The 65 is one of the older models....I reduced their prices and sold them out! Take a look at the ,12,15,20,25 Good luck!

I have a Janome 6260 quilters companion and it has a blanket stitch. I use it for all my applique. Love it.

Buy the Janome. It has lots of stitches, mine has several different blanket stitches, at least 3.

Janome all the way!
