I would love to learn to tat, I don't know anyone in my community that does tatting. I have an old tatting shuttle that was either my great grandmother's or my grandmother's, I found it in some of my mothers things when she passed away. My mother didn't tat but could crochet faster than anyone I have ever seen. I purchased a tatting book with instructions, but just can't seem to get the hang of it. don' usually have trouble with reading most instructions, but just can't seem to put things together when it comes to the tatting I will try viewing some of the you tube videos and see if I can learn. I learned to crochet over the telephone from my mother in the 60's so I maybe I can learn to tat from watching a video,

My grandmother tatted with a shuttle. She taught my sister and I to tattle tat, but it was too long ago. I have her shuttles and left over thread, and some hankies that were never finished. I had never heard about needle tatting. I might just try it. Great work and love all the little pieces.

Saw a friend yesterday and didn't know she tatted. She said it's one of her favorite "busy bag/go bag" projects and easy to keep in your purse.

There's a great tatting course on Craftsy. I was never able to figure it out until I took the course! Reminds me that I should start doing it again... it's really fun.

I want to learn how to do needle tatting. Since I am a lefty any ideas on where to start? Has anyone found any good books on the subject of lefty tatting:)? I looked at a couple of videos on YouTube so far. I bought a set of tatting needles and a spool of Crochet thread to practice with.

I learned to tat in high school from an elderly lady bought the needles but never tried that method. I also taught 4 H girls to tat and designed a doily for my youngest student who never got the hang of two threads. It is like riding a bike once you learn it it is easy to pick up and it is a great small space project

How pretty! My grandmother used to tat. I have her tatting shuttle but have no idea how to use it. I have some sheets and pillow cases that she made tatted edgings for. Really pretty.

tatting is fun but time consuming it is not all that hard to learn it is all about sliding the stitches and not making knots. that is why I always have a hatpin at my side
