OK, so DH has some extra test strips for a blood glucose meter he no longer uses. These go about $50 a box if you have to buy them.
Put an ad on 4 different Freecycle sites, no one has come to get them yet. "Oh you are too far..." "Can you deliver them?"

We are talking about not only several hundred dollars worth of supplies, but could mean better health to someone who can now test their blood sugar more frequently.

I hate to have to throw them out but they will expire in a few months.

I tried my local free clinic, their response, "Oh we do not use that kind of meter."

What about Craigs list? Maybe a homeless shelter would have use for them.

I may try that but have not much response from CL in the past. Because of where we live, most of the VT CL is geared toward a large town about an hour away from us.
I guess I really am out in the boonies!

Unfortunately, is true. Almost every meter uses a different kind of test strip and you can not substitute. If your local hospital has a diabetic clinic, they will take them, but you have to bring them. No resources for them to pick them up.

They are for a Contour meter.

Are you willing to give them away for the price of postage?

(I'm guess that would be around $3.00 for first class postage)

take them to your Doctor's office and he or she will give them to patients who have trouble affording them.

I would be happy to give them away for the price of postage.

My husband has used a few different kinds of meter. His test strips and meter don't cost him anything, as they are provided by our healthcare company. Maybe you should change the ad and charge a nominal amount for them. I heard about a guy who sat a sofa out in front of his house every day for almost a week with a free sign on it...no takers. So he put a sign on it with a price on it. Somebody stole it out of his yard the same day!! people are strange!!

Ditter, you always make me laugh!!

On the other hand , I heard about a guy who was caught stealing a boat on trailer out of someone's driveway. His excuse - I thought they were giving it away...
