I read with interest the topic on naming your machine(s). I just got a new car yesterday with a GPS in in and that lady giving directions needs a name! It's a silver Kia Sportage and the inside of the front doors is orange and the seats have orange stitching! Not what I thought I would be coming home with but she is fun to drive and such a happy color. She gets much better gas milage that I needed since I live out in the country. Any suggestions from any of you creative folks?

I thought of Lady Marmalade, too long? |
yea, well, we call the gps "the b%$*h" because 'she' always wants to argue with us.... 'make a legal u-turn', or 'she' wants us to use dirt roads, or the dreaded 'recalculating'...
Dont' ever just depend on a gps - always keep a map handy just in case LOL |
We call ours Dora, after spending time with 5 year old niece and seeing Dora the Explorer a million times it seemed appropriate.
Deb |
We call ours "Lola" from the Robin Williams movie RV.
We had just seen the movie when we got our Goldwing (that has the GPS built in)and the voice was the same. We cracked up. What Lola wants, Lola doesn't always get. We have also noticed that Lola likes to take us through some "unsavory" neighborhoods at times...think she is laughing the whole time too. With a Silver and orange combo...how about "Flame" or "Sassy" (you'll find she'll burn you or get smart pants with you) |
I like the name Sophia.
Mine is so snooty, I call her Her Ladyship!
When I got my GPS, after a few days, hubby said " oh oh I don't think this was a good idea, ---one women telling another women what to do!"
How about Ginger?
We call our gal "Naggy Maggy".
Mine is from On Star with turn by turn directions. One good thing, I never get RECALCULATING over and over. LOL
Gypsy...since she's always traveling...and checking her magic seeing all Crystal Ball so she can tell YOU where to go...
GYPSY |
Don't know why but DH named his Meg. And Meg gets on my nerves sometimes. She can be annoying to say the least!
We call our GPS Gertrude. It went with her annoying voice. I also talk back to her. LOL!
My GPS lady is Wanda... Wandering Wanda
What about Doris?
my gps is named "gracie". that was a nickname some one had given my mother years ago. when mom and dad went on trips she always had the map in her lap and she was a great navigator . . . hence "gracie"
My GPS is named Ginger. I figure she will keep me from getting lost on my three hour tours.(Gilligan's Island)
My quilting friend's Onstar is named Bob after Bob Denver from Gilligan's. |
My Garmin uses the male voice and I call him "Jack-Jack", the baby in The Incredibles.

We call ours Penelope. She seems somewhat prissy and has an authoritative voice. My husband is having an emotional attachment to her and has actually threatened to run away with her!
My GPS is Arlene Maki, 'cause she pronounces some words just like my best ol' friend who is Finnish. I miss my old friend.
Mine is named Greta....Greta Garmon!
Why not call her Carmen? "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?"
Mine is Sally until she becomes annoying then its not printable here

I was raised in a strict home, and I call my GPS "Ma'M". She sounds so proper, when she tells me to turn my immediate response is Yes, Ma'm. I had it on a male voice, and was responding "yes, sir"...so changed it back to female and just call her ma'm. Manners are so stuck in my head it just seemed normal.
I call mine "Dora the Explorer" I got that from my sister in law.
How about Matilda - like in "you go a-waltzing Matilda with me".
