New granddaughter's smocked dress

3 Attachment(s)
My son married a lady with a little girl and boy. for the wedding, I smocked my first dress. I had learn how to smock when I was expecting him about 32 years ago. He got one outfit before my husband said he could not wear them anymore.

Little Sara really liked her dress, so did Momma.

Beautiful!...and no easy task. Precious little girl.

Tartan 06-08-2014 06:25 PM

How sweet, both the dress and the model!

Diane007 06-08-2014 06:50 PM

both are very nice :)

That is beautiful! Learning to smock is on my bucket list. However, I only had boys so I never got around to learning. Now I'm expecting our first grandchild. If it's a girl, learning to smock will move up the list!

A really cute dress and little girl. Love her smile.

Butterfli19 06-08-2014 07:08 PM

Susy 06-08-2014 07:26 PM

That is beautiful, I would have no idea how to even attempt something like that!

Dee G 06-08-2014 07:29 PM

Great job - and the sweet smile is a precious reward.

JuneBillie 06-08-2014 07:36 PM

What a beautiful dress for a beautiful princess.

mom-6 06-08-2014 08:19 PM

Beautifully done!
And beautiful little one as well.

When DD was little I made several smocked garments for her. They were fun to do.

What a wonderful job you did. Both the young lady and her dress are beautiful. 38 years ago I married my husband who had a son from his first marriage. My Mom and Dad accepted Shane right away and always treated him like the wonderful guy he is, not as a step but as one of the Grands. Your show of love is priceless.

Cute cute little girl and love the dress! Where would one go to learn how to smock I want to learn so I can make granddaughters some sun dresses!

QuiltnNan 06-09-2014 04:04 AM

very nicely done

beaglelady 06-09-2014 06:40 AM

The dress is just beautiful - you did a wonderful job with the smocking. Your granddaughter looks so sweet in it.

tessagin 06-09-2014 06:52 AM

The dress and the model/wearer/owner are adorable. You did a stunning job. My son's christening outfits both had smocking. The men had fits even though there were no flowers. Told the guys the smocking looked like lattice fencing. That shut them up!

Kitsie 06-09-2014 07:05 AM

That is sooo sweet! You've done a wonderful job!

sharisews 06-09-2014 07:46 AM

So sweet, both dress and child.

maryb119 06-09-2014 03:30 PM

Judith1005 06-09-2014 04:22 PM

I would check around for "fine hand sewing." In Jacksonville, FL we have Paula's off of Bay Meadows. You may find a lesson on you-tube but you will still need to have someone do your "Pleating" or buy a pleater. (not cheap) there is magazines with patterns and directions. Good luck.

Absolutely previous! I love this ;-)

What a beautiful dress. How special that you made it for this cutie and that she got to wear it for the wedding. It's an heirloom for sure.

MaryKatherine 06-10-2014 03:12 AM

Gorgeous! ( Sigh...oh for a granddaughter, a grandchild...a wedding? My boys are just too independent. I wonder who made them that way?)
