New Ironing Board Cover

2 Attachment(s)
I am sooo pleased with myself. My old ironing board cover was old and nasty looking. Yesterday I was ironing a piece of fabric and I said to myself this fabric would make a very eclectic ironing board cover. Best of all the fabric is 60" wide. Rather than removing the old cover I just covered it up by tucking the edges of the new fabric underneath and safety pinning it. Worked like a charm. I think I still have about five yards of this vary garish fabric. It was a thrift store find and as I remember it cost me about $1 a yard.

Because I do a lot of pressing and use starch, I mess up a cover quickly, so... I use obsolete fabric and just drape over the work surface and continue til its brown and place another piece of fabric over it It's another attempt at reducing my stash of fabric.
Just heard about locker hooking which utilizes fabric woven into latch hook webbing and secured w yarn Proponents of this method reccommend using quilt patterns for designing rugs Another way to reduce stash and use up leftover yarn from years of crochet.

that looks great..any one have an idea on how to make a new padding for the top? mine is so thin now that I get marks in my fabric when I iron on it.

The fabric looks great as an ironing board cover. I re-covered mine a couple years ago and it is due for a new one again. And what a perfect way to use up fabric that will never go in to a quilt.

Well believe it or not Sheri, I am using some of the fabric to make a sampler quilt. Someone will love it and the colors. Maybe even me when I am done with it.
