New Michael J. Fox show.

Anyone watch it last night? What did you think? I give it another week before it's canceled.
Laughed once during the 1st episode, not at all during the second. I thought comedy shows were suppose to be funny. This one..... not so much!

lynnie 09-27-2013 12:44 PM

I feel the same, and the same goes for the robin Williams one.
what worked 20-30 yrs ago, doesn't still work. noticed the same facial expressions that would get a laugh on mork. the was a reason that it got cancelled. we don't find the same stuff entertaining anymore. I felt they played up the Parkinson's disease way to much. it was in everyone's line. We know he has Parkinson's, so move on with the story and drop it.

EllieGirl 09-27-2013 04:49 PM

I don't like sit coms. When I was in my 20s, 30s, & 40s they were social commentaries, views of our society such as All in The Family, Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda, Mash. Now they are all stupid and put downs of other people.

Ruby the Quilter 09-27-2013 07:40 PM

Didn't watch it. My dh was diagnosed with Parkinson's in July. Really not interested in seeing it paraded on tv.

masufa 09-27-2013 07:59 PM

I agree it just wasn't funny

Sandygirl 09-28-2013 03:06 AM

The commercials make me cringe. Love Michael but this does not appeal to me.

Sandy

QUILTNMO 09-28-2013 05:25 AM

Too true! I hate laugh tracks, too.

tessagin 09-28-2013 05:30 AM

I was even disappointed in the NCIS shows. Wasn't a big fan of NCIS LA ever. Just seems all the "detective" and "cop" shows are pretty much the same. Maybe just getting tired of the tv.....

Rose Marie 09-28-2013 07:29 AM

Robin Williams was ok but M.Fox was awful. TV just gets worse every year. Or I am getting old and every thing is aimed at the young now days.
I do like Person Of Interest. None of the sitcoms are anygood.

Peckish 09-28-2013 07:30 AM

Network (meaning the "big 3") television has really gone downhill in the last few years. I don't even watch network tv anymore. The shows I prefer to watch are on USA, A&E, TNT, and a couple other cable channels. Suits, Justified, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Duck Dynasty, Downton Abbey - these are the best tv shows on right now, and NONE of them are on the Big Three.

We've actually discontinued paying almost $100 a month for entertainment. We're not getting our money's worth. So we shut down our satellite and pay $18 a month for Netflix and Hulu Plus. It's cheaper, Netflix has no commercials and Hulu has limited commercials (2 per break, instead of 8 or 10, and there are fewer breaks). Netflix is producing its own shows and they're very, very good. "House of Cards" with Kevin Spacey was nominated for 9 Emmys and won 3. I also watch a lot of shows and movies on the internet.

Duck Dynasty's ratings are beating the pants off that idiotic Kardashian show. Network TV better wake up fast.

GrandmaPeggy 09-28-2013 02:03 PM

We were disappointed too.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 09-28-2013 02:36 PM

I'm with Peckish. We gave up paying for TV 20 years ago. We have an antennae and get the big 3 networks but almost never watch them. We get 2 or 3 oldies stations that my husband likes. I watch Netflix or Youtube. There are many full length movies on Youtube. On rare occasion, I will do a pay per view from Amazon if it is something I really want to watch.

Every once in awhile we start thinking we should try cable again, but then we end up in a hotel some place and realize there is nothing on with 100 channels.

beckyboo1 09-28-2013 04:16 PM

I could live without the satellite at all. Only shows I like to watch are Big Bang Theory and NCIS and I could watch both of them on the CBS website.

sak658 09-28-2013 04:50 PM

I love Nashville and Revenge...duck dynasty..and HGTV..and Lifetime movie network..and Lifetime...Dancing with the Stars..QVC and that's about it..plus weather and news..

Sew Freak 09-29-2013 03:50 AM

IMHO...Two and a half Men just doesn't do it for me anymore since Sheen's meltdown or whatever it was. Cryer's character is just too pathetic....and not funny pathetic. Kutcher's character is just not????...seems they don't know just how to portray his character. Sheen's character was at least always in character as a (borderline?) alcholic, womaninzing, successful jingle writer who was continally at odds with his mother and brother. Kutcher's character is (at times) suppose to be a sexy, uber rich comuter wiz, who seems to be continually awkward with women and yet (at times) seems to have common sense...his wishy washy character just doesn't work for me. just mho....!

mjsylvstr 09-29-2013 04:08 AM

I've been sticking more to the HGTV and the FoodNetwork........there are so many choices from which to chose......no
^$%$^*(&^% n language and one can always get good ideas.

Now only if they would bring back a few of the quilt & craft shows.....I would be a happy camper.

Michael J Fox show

Totally disappointed in the new show. Why does everything have to be about sex nowadays? There are other parts of the body besides below the waist and other thoughts besides what to do with that area! I watched a Mike and Molly show recently. It was all about them trying to conceive and it was on at 7 p.m. Prime time and kids are watching this! I'm getting tired of Little House and the Waltons but those 2 shows are still the only respectable family entertainment on tv. Isn't this sad for our children? All these years we've been told to turn the tv off--never more true than today. Even the game show channel has inappropriate programming.

Woodster 09-29-2013 05:01 AM

We love the Big Bang Theory. Good comic relief in a world filled with too much bad news.

I agree, didn't care for it at all.

Carol Ann 09-29-2013 06:00 AM

Couldn't watch the whole show. Very disappointed.

Yup, if your looking for some great laughs watch The Big Bang Theory!! Love that show.

Was very disappointed in both the Robin Williams & Michael J Fox shows. I honestly do not think I laughed one time. However I am pretty hard to please when it comes to things being funny. I have tried to catch all the new shows, if I did not see them on TV I watched them the next day on my computer. So far I have not been overly impressed with any of the new shows. I am still happy with my old faithful ones. like NCIS, CSI, looking forward to this evening to see Once Upon A Time, the Good Wife.

Geri B 09-29-2013 07:18 AM

Fox was very sad.....if it remains on air, they better clean up the act and replace the writers. Like Elementary, NCIS, Castle, waiting patiently for Scandal......sitcoms are not what they used to be....should all be on porn channel now!

I didn't like the show either. I watch the cable shows -- I like the History Channel, TRu, Discovery. Have any of you watched "The American Bible Challenge" Now that is a good quiz show. Jeff Foxworthy is the emcee. I really like that show, along with HGTV, TLC, Food. I even like Pawnbrokers, Ice Road Truckers, etc. Sure beats the heck out of those shows on the broadcast channels. I watch local news and the Weather Channel. The rest of the time I am quilting and listening to audiobooks! GO VIKES!!!!!!! Edie

judee0624 09-29-2013 08:38 AM

I liked it. I don't usually watch sitcoms but this one was enjoyable. I like how we were introduced to the characters. It isn't all about Michael.

Agree! Agree! Agree!!! Love NETFIX...Nothing worth watching at all..

Iraxy 09-29-2013 09:28 AM

We subscribe to DISH, and other than PBS, The Big Bang Theory and the news, there does not seem to be much on TV. It is rather disappointing. Usually, I scour the $5.00 bins at the store and watch a movie but lately the movies seem to be awful too. Sometimes I wonder how stupid do they think we are?

twogeebs 09-29-2013 12:59 PM

Oh, the laugh tracks drive me crazy, they seem to be louder and more often. As soon as I hear them I'm gone, I won't even give the show a chance. If the show is funny, why do they need them?

nativetexan 09-29-2013 01:09 PM

Most comedies are awful these days. I wish Michael success somewhere. the man does need to make money.

I agree! Family, Soap, ........

nygal 09-29-2013 02:11 PM

I didn't enjoy it at all. I probably won't watch it again.

I watch very little of the three Network channels, Jeopardy and Wheel are good for our minds. Prefer the clean stuff and why have they taken all the craft shows away. PBS has some good shows that are worth watching.
Hallmark movies and Netflix cd's are my best bet for decent movies.

KnitnutBZ 09-29-2013 04:26 PM

This has been a great thread. my sentiments are in total agreement with all the comments from stupid sitcoms all about sex, fighting and belittling on most of the reality shows, and I too am tired of Walton's and Little House, but there is nothing left. Sooooo guess I will just go down to my sewing room and quilt too.

lynnie 09-29-2013 04:33 PM

I love big bang too. I think it's a quilters show. they need a quilt on someone's couch.
I HATE laugh tracks. do they think we're that stupid that we as adults, need to know when to lauch. it's so 70's ish.
what ever happened to Mccloud, and good old Angel Landsbury type of nightly mysteries. an hour show with it wrapped up quickly, not dragging on for months to the point we forgot who did what???

germanquilter 09-29-2013 04:46 PM

Love Big Bang Theory as well...and so my daughters so it is a Family affair! I also love NCIS, Law and Order, Hawaii 5-0, Criminal Minds, CSI...I know it is a trend; I just love those crime shows :) Can't wait for Downton Abbey and will have to look into Breaking Bad since everyone I ever talk to raves about it...Netflix is super for watching all those seasons of TV you missed! Of the new shows this Fall, the only one I have liked was "The Blacklist"!

Jannie 09-29-2013 06:58 PM

I get excited every year watching the commercials for the new season. After the first week, i am looking for something to watch because the shows are so awful. Every year it seems like there is less to watch. Boy, do they need some new writers or a reality check on what we really want.

dmsaki 09-29-2013 07:57 PM

Has anyone watched Doc Martin on PBS? I have netflix and I have watched every episode for season 1-5.....love it!

mjsylvstr 09-30-2013 04:03 AM

Looking forward to the holiday season and the many old movies.....now there are the good movies........I believe it's Hallmark that starts 12/1 and continues all month long......get that taping going and have them for later on........

I absolutely love Doc Martin, I've seen all the episodes at least twice and some of them even more. I'm so sorry there aren't any new ones.

sewmom 09-30-2013 07:42 AM

I watched the first one and I didn't really care for it. I hate the shows where they talk to the camera like an interview. The Office does that and that show is totally ignorant in my opinion.
