i would go crazy i would have to take a hand project!

I also live in Tri-Cities and travel to CO often to visit daughter and family. Have my own sewing machine & serger there. CO is a great place to sew, also! LOL

Hand embroider some Christmas squares using #8 red perle cotton. Then use pretty Christmas fabric to make them into a Christmas quilt. Using perle cotton and doing red work is mindless. There is no having to look at your pattern to see what color to use.

I was gone for 3 weeks without a sewing machine. I took a book to read, a couple of crocheting projects, my mothers recipes to proof read that my sister put on the computer--all to do in the car while traveling. While at my children's home, I enjoyed the grand kids and when at sister's house we shopped. Got home and was to tired to sew so went a couple more days before I sat down to the machine. Now I am at full swing and enjoying it.

I prepped several panels for the hand work on a cathedral window.

There's always crochet or knitting. Can you bring knitting needles on an airplane?

So far I have the offer of my soon-to-be SIL's old, non working Bernina, and a possibility of my niece's old, non working Swiss Elna. I don't have to shop! And, I've decided to give my hands a rest as I had been working them hard the last few weeks.

Colorado is beautiful and full of things to do other than quilting. (I know it is hard to believe). There are two quilt museums in the area besides all of the historical sites. I hope your mom will allow you to venture out and enjoy yourself.

Sadly, so far I've just been driving my mom around to things. Tomorrow we go to Breckenridge , though, and I will have 3 or 4 days of just relaxing. I bought a book called "The Quilt That Walked to Golden." Lots of good pictures and interesting stories of quilts made in the Midwest from the Civil War to the 1920's.

We are heading for Pagosa Springs, Co on Sunday. I'm gonna fly fish, ride the 4 wheeler, fly fish, check out a quilt shop, and fly fish some more. Love to quilt, but I love the outdoors also. They have lots of water (cold) that we don't have in Southern New Mexico. It's going to be close to 100 degrees here, so I will enjoy myself.
