Nook HD+ ????
 

My kids gave a NOOK HD+ to me for Mother's Day.

I haven't done much reading lately - and don't have a Wi-Fi connection -

I haven't opened it yet - would I get their money's worth out of it?

I need to rephrase my question -

Do any of you have a NOOK - and if so - do you like i?

And if not, what do you dislike about it?

There is no way that any one else would know what I would/could do with it!

I have a Kindle instead of a Nook. I love it. Both are similar and easy to use. There are several websites you can subscribe to that will notify you of free books every day.

I think quilting books would be nice on it. There are many "apps" you can put on it. Everything from games to calendars, to calculators.

There are many, many things to do with a Nook other than tradition reading.

You don't have to have a wifi connection to download books. You can use a USB cord. It should be in your box.

I would like to suggest that if you think you will like reading on it, then you can probably find a free WiFi connection someplace and get lots of things to read and then when you want more, go back to another free WiFi place. I am thinking you wouldn't have to get to the free WiFi often, just when you wanted to load up your Nook.

As Lisa wanna b said---you don't need wi-fi for downloading books..you do that on your computer and transfer via the USB cable. But if I'm not mistaken, you can browse the internet w/ a wi-fi connection. So I see where you're coming from with your question. I have a reader (not a Nook) and it will also connect to internet via wi-fi--BUT it is not worth my trouble....slow to connect...drops connection...I just don't bother since I have iPad and pc. If you love to read tho, it will be great to carry with you. Hospitals have wi-fi, McDonalds & Pizza Hut do, many businesses do, so go ahead and learn how to connect and drop it in your purse when you'll be sitting in a waiting rm. You'll grow to love it!

DH got me a Nook, I didn't think I would like it better than a book, but I love it. I download books from the Barnes and Nobles website, lots of free ones on there. I carry it with me everywhere. I can get online with it and check email. You can also sign up at library sites, check your local one and can check out books.

I love my Nook Color! As I get older the print seems to get smaller and more bleary. But, with the Nook, I can easily enlarge the print. Also, I can read in the dark since it is bright (adjustable). This comes in handy when traveling since I suffer from insomnia and don't like disturbing DH. I can download books from our library onto my computer using Adobe Digital Editions (its a free app). Lots of library's have a digital section. My Nook is also an MP3 so I can listen to books also. Plus Netflix. Only problem is that I like a larger screen for movies and you really need headphones to hear it.

If you live close to a Barnes and Noble, you can take your Nook there for free WiFi. Barnes and Noble also have a lot of free books you can download.

You can also have pictures on it.

I can only vouch for the Nook Color. My oldest has a plain Nook - it's not back lit. He did that on purpose so the battery would last longer. His battery lasts several weeks. Mine only lasts a few hours.

I absolutely love my Nook - you can find many free books too - you definitely need a Wi-Fi connection to get your books - I am a big reader and if I read a book and looking for another - I have it right at my fingertips - I just hit the buy button and instantly I have a new book. Also, you can download samples of every book - gives you a taste of the book to see if its something you are really interested in. I have read many of the $2.99 or less books and free books - and they are great. Also, you can access the internet with your Nook also - and you can make the print larger if you have problems with small print. I guess you could say that I love my Nook - I never leave home without it.:thumbup:

I don't have a Nook but do have a Kindle Fire and I can go to my library and connect to their wifi and download books from them. I have always been a reader but the last few years had not read much. I'm sure making up for it now, last year I read over 60 books.
