This is what I have done in the last 2 1/2 days. Still have some left to stack just to soar to do it.....................................

GirlieWhirlie 10-13-2011 06:42 AM

But you will be glad when the cold wind starts blowing and you stay warm while you are quilting.

MrsM 10-13-2011 06:42 AM

Just think you will be all cozy this winter when you quilt!

annthreecats 10-13-2011 06:44 AM

I think you'll be needing that wood soon, so I'm glad you have it ready to use. You can quilt when the snow falls and you can't work outside anymore.

MegsAnn 10-13-2011 06:54 AM

FIRE!!!! I hear ya on being sore, but it's soooo so nice to have firewood. Can't afford it right now so I'm scrounging up bits of leftover scrap lumber in hopes of having a fire or two this winter. :)

For some reason, a vision of an ant and grasshopper came rushing thru my head

tucsonquilter 10-13-2011 06:58 AM

Oh I remember those days......hang in there.

Barb_MO 10-13-2011 07:12 AM

That is a giant stack of wood. Wish I has that much cut, split and stacked.
Don't over do it. Take a few days off, maybe someone else with stack the rest of it.

Becky Mc 10-13-2011 07:16 AM

I heat with wood no other form of heat. This will last me about a month and half maybe a little longer if the wind isn't to bad.

athomenow 10-13-2011 07:20 AM

Don't you love your woodburner? My son has one and his house is always so nice and toasty. Unlike mine where you can see your breath in the winter.

nativetexan 10-13-2011 07:23 AM

my goodness, i've been cutting limbs but not that much!!!

NikkiLu 10-13-2011 07:24 AM

WOW - what a lot of work and you are such a "neat stacker"!!! Is that an outdoor wood furnace?

rwquilts 10-13-2011 07:30 AM

You have been busy! Great looking stack!

Murphy 10-13-2011 07:55 AM

Great accomplishment. The soreness will pass and the pleasure you feel when this is completed will be immeasurable. Winter in your home will be toasty and warm due to your great effort. Kudos. Thanks for sharing the great pics.

emerald46 10-13-2011 08:10 AM

Very impressive...stacked wood always looks so cozy to me.

valleyquiltermo 10-13-2011 08:16 AM

OMGoodness I remember when I had to do this, I think God everyday I don't have to do it anymore.

Granny Quilter 10-13-2011 08:58 AM

But it is so nice that you have a place to burn it.

mrsponcho1 10-13-2011 10:14 AM

We also heat with wood. Just can't seem to get warm enough with other types of heat. Well my husband can't - I'm always warm - even wear short sleeves most of winter. lol

ChrisB 10-13-2011 10:31 AM

Just think of all the quilting you can do this winter in your nice warm house.

Glassquilt 10-13-2011 06:16 PM

Looking good. We don't get firewood anymore - no truck. To say nothing about the emerald ash borer which has cause a real problem for dealers to bring wood in.

KerryK 10-13-2011 06:22 PM

Ahhhhhh, so glad I live in the south! We get cold, but not THAT cold! You surely did stack it pretty! But oh, I know you are tired! Blessings!

sewlisa 10-13-2011 06:25 PM

I look forward to helping DH with wood. It's great exercise. I also enjoy the heat our wood stove puts out. Great for drying clothes, keeping warm, and cooking on.

girlsfour 10-14-2011 03:18 AM

Looks like lots of hard work but a what a feeling of accomplishment!!! My hubby's parents had a woodburning stove when I first met him and I remember their house was nice and toasty in the winter.

Looks like you live in the country - nice!

Meg

Ditto!

sharin'Sharon 10-14-2011 04:15 AM

This stack is only a six week supply? Oh, my, you have more back work to do? It should be cozy this winter when you are ready to quilt.

sandpat 10-14-2011 06:06 AM

Whew!!! You'll be so happy to have that pretty soon, but it is a ton of work!

Caroline S 10-14-2011 07:23 AM

Love your stacking project. Neat stacking, sort of looks like a quilt design to me. We used to cut, split and stack about 20 cords of wood a year before I bought a pellet stove.

mimee4 10-14-2011 07:46 AM

Oh your aching back. Beautiful stacking, I must say!

grannypat7925 10-14-2011 08:52 AM

Our firewood was just delivered last week, so we are ready. Nothing like a nice fire in the fireplace!

gramtam 10-14-2011 09:06 AM

love the wood heat, it is just oh so nice and cozy!!! My dh is going to install a similar stove soon, can't wait!! we have a heatalator now but it does not do as well as this will do!! congrats on your start of wood, I would get a man to do this for me, I am such a wimp when it comes to that type of work!! lol

pollym44 10-14-2011 09:20 AM

My back hurts from just looking at that stack. It will be worth it when the snow falls!!!

Cagey 10-14-2011 09:51 AM

Holy cow - you did a very tidy job. Our pile sure doesn't look like that!

Roberta 10-14-2011 09:57 AM

What's that old saying, wood heat keeps you 3 times warm, once when you cut it, once when you split and stack it and once when it burns.

Sandra in Minnesota 10-14-2011 11:54 AM

That's a lotta wood!

joyce888 10-14-2011 01:38 PM

WOW - Kudos to you!

KS quilter 10-14-2011 03:39 PM

Looks like a professional job. Years ago my husband cut
our wood and I would help run it through the splitter. It is work, but since I did office type work, I kinda enjoyed
working outside. At least you can see the result of your hard work.

Month and a half? No wonder we don't use our fireplace. Only use Duraflame in it anyway, during the Holidays. Too pricey. And can't have wood heat the whole house due to asthma. But I sure love the hot heat, the smell, the warm cozy cuddling watching a movie next to the fireplace.
Putting off sewing to get this done will be hugely rewarded when the cold starts. Sore muscles and all.

Farm Quilter 10-14-2011 04:39 PM

Gotta love all that "warm for the winter" wood! Just think of all the calories you are burning compared to how few get burned when seated at the sewing machine. Just need to find that silver lining :D

whew that is hard work, and yea, it goes fast when the wind blows or the temperature drops.
Sorry I can't help you except in spirit.

Tweety2911 10-14-2011 06:07 PM

Nothing like being prepared! I remember those days of cutting, splitting and stacking.....ouch! Love the warmth on a cold winter day though!
