Hiking in the woods to see a waterfall sounds like way more fun than spending the afternoon/evening running errands, which is how I spent my day. I am bushed but didn't really get much exercise since I was in and out of the car. I didn't even spend as much time moving around at work today, had to work on a spreadsheet so I was planted at my desk. I will have to make time tomorrow to go for a walk at the very least. Those cookies sound yummy, and much healthier than my oatmeal no bake cookies!

createfourpaws 10-03-2012 06:09 AM

Off to take mom to the doctors, following up on the CT that was done last week.

My depression is getting so bad right now, I just want to hid from everything. I have been out of work now for 5 months and with every place I apply i get rejected. I just dont know what to do anymore.

I am trying to keep up my faith and trust in God but it is getting harder every day.

Sorry for the negative....just needed to vent.

sewNso 10-03-2012 06:57 AM

sandy, has anyone we know on here, ever made a success of the 'work on line, from home' ? i have tried to investigate it. MSN news on line had the names of the companies that do the hiring, but i missed it. meant to go back and catch them, but then couldn't find them. good luck to you.
canned pumpkin for the last 3 or 4 days. it's a slow process. doing a canner full of salmon today.
need to get on the excercise bike some today.
and trying to get the little grandson from day care around 3:30. that's when they send them outside, and he has a cold, so am trying to get him over that.

quilthappygail 10-03-2012 07:00 AM

I'm in for Oct. My suggestion for Tuesday's is no bread. I know that's a hard one but maybe for two days of the week.
The cookies sound really interesting so will try them.
Cindy hang in there the perfect job is just waiting for you to find. Now is a really hard time for everyone looking for a job so you are not alone out there. Keep your chin up you will find that job!
Welcome to all who are new and returning. Together we can do this life change. One day at a time and one bite at a time.
Gail

CountryHouseQuilter 10-03-2012 07:14 AM

Cindy, keep your spirits up. Drag yourself out even when you don't want to. I've been through what you're going through. You need to make yourself do things!!!! Depression is an ugly thing and if you don't fight it, it will win. I have faith in God and myself, and when it strikes, I strike back. Strike back Cindy!!!!! The more you get out and moving the better you're gonna feel. And this job thing takes time. I know you don't want to hear that, but it does. Took me almost a year, but I ended up with the perfect job for me at this time in my life. And I ended up with another whole group of awesome friends in the process. I'm not a "Jesus Freak" and I don't go shouting the word, but I do believe that he has a plan for all of us and we may not agree or understand but eventually everything works out. Keep the faith!!!

And remember, you have all of us to vent to!!!! Vent away!!!!

Everose 10-03-2012 09:18 AM

Cindy, there are a lot of us suffering with depression. My heart goes out to you. Mine gets bad this time of year because we don't have a lot of sunshine. And yes, I tend to hide inside. With DH out of town, it is easier to deal just with myself. But if I put something on my calendar, then I tend to get "going". My big thing is getting dressed for the day - I must. And I now tell myself - just do something. Even if it's going through the mail or tossing junk.

Brought all of the boxes from Mom's storage unit - what a mess around here. So am sorting pictures to go back to family members and such. Have about a dozen boxes of her things and ours ready for the garage sale. All of this must be done before tomorrow noon.

Have TMJ in one ear and again this morning it is letting me know it's not happy. So must go put some medicine in my ear and have some veggies for lunch.

Remember to be good to you!!!

irishrose 10-03-2012 11:27 AM

Di, are you using a mouth guard at night? I've been known to wear one during the day if I'm in a stressful situation. I have to decide whether to continue going to Curves. I had agrophobia at one time and still have trouble leaving the house. Do I want to commit to going out three times a week? Besides, I've herniated L4 and L5 at three times and the weights seem to be bothering those two vertebrae. I have no cartilage in that area so I'm a little cautious. My TV exercises may be better for me. I also have a sunlamp for the months when it isn't as sunny. I often use in the evening if I need extra light for sewing. It doesn't interfere with my sleep, but then not much does.

I wish I had the ambition to sort through my pictures. I tell my kids to bring a shoebox on holidays so we can start, but my youngest daughter throws a monkey wrench in that by insisting we play games.

Vanogay 10-03-2012 04:32 PM

Got some extra veggies today by having vegetable beef soup. It was a nice size bowl and really full of the veggies. Enjoyed it - then had a second cup of soup at church dinner - a small one - this time it was baked potato soup. I still need to cut down on servings.

createfourpaws 10-03-2012 05:31 PM

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I know that is one thing we are all good about. I did get out of the house today for a little more than just taking mom to the doctors. We did go do a bit of grocery shopping and she took me out to lunch.

Tomorrow I am going to do some cleaning, laundry and then do more than look at the t-shirt quilt on the design wall. LOL I have let my depression keep me from doing it. I have that one plus 2 others to do. Also a quilt top someone wants me to sandwich and stitch in the ditch it. And they need to be done by the end of the year. I need to stop procrasting on doing them.

You guys are all great.

Keep up your hard work on doing what you need to to lose your weight. Now that weather has cooled down, I am gonna try to get mom to go walking with me as she needs to lose also.

lauriejo 10-03-2012 06:14 PM

Oh shoot, I forgot to buy oatmeal today. No cookies for me. :(

meanmom 10-03-2012 06:45 PM

I have made the cookies several times. I am also not a big fan of anything with bananas except for a real banana. They did not really have much of a banana taste. They come out really soft, almost cakelike. If you are going to keep them for more than a couple of days put them in the refrigerator because they get moldy. ( ask me how moldy after a week on the counter, I forgot about them, really gross)
Cindy good luck. I too am having trouble with depression. I have never had to deal with it before like this. My job is really getting me down. I am looking but haven't found anything that works for me yet. I have applied for several but I am pretty sure they are going to be filling them from within. I am applying anyway. I am keeping notes on what is going on there, not sure what I am going to do with it yet. I have been having to drag myself up to my sewing room. I have never had that problem before. The house is getting out of control. I need to get things back in control here. As much as I hate to I have considered medication. When I got a pedicure last month she about freaked out over how tense my feet were. Said I must be a mess. I have to wear a guard at night or I wouldn't have any teeth left. I am not normally a tense person. I have always just been able to go along with things. I am getting a pedicure tomorrow, I am curious what she will say about how tense I am.
I am thinking of calling in sick on Friday. The teacher might be off for a funeral. I f she is off I will go in. If she is there I think I will be sick.(Either sick or sick of it.)

CountryHouseQuilter 10-04-2012 07:09 AM

My quilt group was here last night. What a bunch of wonderful ladies. Usually always picks me up to have that "girl time". We discussed our trip to the beach in a couple weeks. 7 of us are going to a retreat and can't hardly wait!!!! Hoping they'll all keep me on the straight and narrow when it comes to the diet!!!! LOL...right, they're not better than me. I did hop on the scale this morning....1 more lb. gone!! That makes me happy :-)

DH & DD just left for the beach. Big car show this weekend and they're going. I have to work the next 3 days so I'm home with the "boys" (dogs). Getting ready to hit the quilt room and get some things finished up so I can start a new project!!!!

Have an awesome day ladies!!!! Drink lots of water!! and get those veggies in!!!!

frustratedquilter40 10-04-2012 07:43 AM

I am going to try thst reciepe for the breakfast bars ....Thanks Cindy :)

Cindy I understand about depression it can be very hard to get motivated.I chose to leave my job almosy 2 yrs ago this comming Feb after 23 yrs due to some personal and professional issues with a coworker. I fell into a deep depression would sleepall day for almost a year. Getting on meds helped me at least get up and get started taking classes to finish my 2yr degree. I am 43 and still have days hang in there and definately if you can make yourself get out of the house even just for a short walk it does help.

My thing today is no pop/soda I quit it once for over a year and start up again. Also to eat more veggies and fruit.
Have a great day everyone

irishrose 10-04-2012 08:24 AM

I put broccoli and carrots in my lemon chicken/rice soup last night. It didn't change the flavor at all, which is good.

Last night I was halfway through a post about making granola when my computer went pop and everything went black. Oh, oh. The computer is coming up on 10 years old. After checking the fuse box and the wall outlet, I decided it had to be the plug strip. Yup, a quick trip to the store and I'm back in business.

The granola making went well, though I had to throw out my rice bran because it was rancid, too. My fault on that one - it's been around too long. Making granola felt like a blast from the past. My older children tell the younger ones they are lucky they didn't live through my days of making granola and homemade yogurt. The granola was good - the yogurt was an acquired taste and they never acquired it. The girls still feel that having to eat it was some kind of torture. Funny girls. The oldest will be 54 this week. Wow! Where does time go?

meanmom, do take Friday off if the teacher will be in. Two subs is too hard on the kids and on the subs. The first time will be the hardest. Sleep in, take a bubble bath, take a walk and then quilt all day. Don't waste a free day on housework.

CHQ, your quilt group sounds like fun. I'd love to have one here. Lord knows I have enough machines if my friends would sew on vintage ones. And enough fabric for everyone. And enough patterns.

The sun is shining even though it's raining intermittently, so I'm going to go get some soil and work on the lawn. I've never had a Siberian who didn't think it was her job to do some excavating. Lily isn't bad, but if the ground is soft from rain and it's dark out, she just can't help it. I give them one spot, but Lily isn't as good as confining her holes to one area as Jojo and Mia were.

I will have an awesome day. Working in the sun, walking my furgirls, working on the bazaar quilt, etc. I have been having to do a lot of unsewing. My reversal problems are getting in the way of keeping those little angles in the right order between the design wall and the sewing machine. I'm about ready to take a break and do a Spicy Spiral table runner.

Have a good day, y'all. Eat clean - as close to plain food as possible. Drink water - with a half a lemon in the morning and move your body. Enjoy the sunshine. For those of us in the north country, we know what's coming - it may snow this week end here.

createfourpaws 10-04-2012 12:25 PM

Got some good news today, got the call from the company I interviewed with last week, he wants me but has to have corparte approval. So waiting for that, I dont see a problem there. Now to wait for that. It was a small part of the weight lifted off my shoulders today.

We have a cold front coming through, gonna be in the 80's today and part of tomorrow and then dropping about 25-30 degrees by tomorrow afternoon. Crazy weather

So I have pulled out some beef cubes and will make some beef stew or veg beef soup this weekend. Will load it up with vegs.

meanmom 10-04-2012 02:30 PM

Irish I have decided I am sick tomorrow (cough, cough). I wouldn't waste a sick day being out if the teacher was out. What would be the fun in that. I also wouldn't do that to the other aide or the kids. They have been having trouble getting subs this year so there is a good chance there won't be one. They lowered the pay a lot. They can't hardly find aides for the teachers either. The principal was stuck in a classroom part of the day last week. I hope the teacher has fun changing all the diapers tomorrow, including two ton Tilly. We have a little girl in 1st grade in a wheelchair who is a brut. she weighs at least 80 pounds and constantly tries to hit, pull hair and kick. She is awful to change, I got kicked in the head today. I feel like I have been in a wrestling match most days after changing her. Is it wrong to hope she is in rare form again tomorrow.
I plan on a little cleaning, and then going up and hiding out in my quilt room all day. I have a baby quilt to quilt and bind. I am also doing the 50 paper pieced stars group and am a couple of weeks behind. So I hope to catch up tomorrow. I also really want to do the New York beauty group. That just started this week. Not sure about it yet. I might even eat some chocolate!!!

Pam H 10-04-2012 04:00 PM

Cindy, I sure hope you get that job! I have been praying for new jobs for you and meanmom. You were in one of my dreams last night, Cindy. There was some guy that I kind of knew and I was going to set you up with him. He was helping me sort some fabric and I realized he was color blind. Strange!
I had a great day. I went with my daughter for her ultrasound. This is the one where she could find out the sex but she did not want to. We spent the rest of the day shopping. I bought a little white fuzzy snowsuit for the baby. I also bought a little girl outfit. We also looked at cribs and car seats and pacifiers and all kinds of fun stuff. I want to get started on sewing some burp cloths and bibs. That will have to wait until after the 12 blocks for the exchange. Maybe I can start knitting some booties while I watch tv.
When I got home there was an adorable little stray kitten at my house. It was so sweet and cuddled up to me. I let it go and the neighbor kids (teenagers) picked it up. Their chiwawa scared it and it ran up a tree. Their dad climbed a ladder to get it. It climbed onto his shoulder and he came down. It ran away then. I put out some tuna for it. I hope it turns up again. The neighbor girl really wants it.
Time for a bowl of chili with this cooler weather.

irishrose 10-04-2012 08:09 PM

frustratedquilter40, that's a tough one to give up, but if you can get past three days, it will get better. It's certainly a good thing to give up if you are concerned about your health. Go for it!

Pam, aren't you allergic to cats? Kittens are so adorable, but they do grow up to be cats. I have another GGD pregnant - the older sister to the one on bed rest now. She had her first ultrasound today. I haven't heard from her, but I'm hoping for a girl. I want to make a pink quilt.

Pam H 10-04-2012 08:29 PM

You're right, Irish. I am allergic to cats but kittens are just too adorable. Haha, I just sneezed thinking about it. I only held him for maybe 3 minutes. It's when they are in my house that they bother me. I'm not deathly allergic.
I hope both of your GGD's do well with their pregnancies. I also hope you get to make a pink quilt!

Vanogay 10-05-2012 02:49 AM

Okay - Taboo Tuesday - no fried anything this week. Only baked, broiled, grilled, you get the point. And that includes chips - most of them are fried.
I won't be cooking much for awhile. I was out late yesterday on my exercise walk and fell - broke my humerus at the shoulder. At least it wasn't bad enough for an overnight in the hospital or any surgery. Will see doctor this a.m. for more info. Out of commission on finishing a Quilt of Valor and some small quilts I needed for the Veteran's Day service. I will figure this out. Everyone else - keep exercising, drink water.

meanmom 10-05-2012 03:36 AM

OMG Kathleen, I hope it isn't too bad. Let us know your progress. When I had shoulder surgery I managed to sew after a week or so, to keep my sanity. I used my left hand to guide the fabric and very carefully set my right arm up there and just used it a little to guide the fabric. I couldn't rotary cut anything or FMQ but was able to work on some of my simple projects. I had my son rotary cut a few strips for me. Good luck.
I have another grandbaby on the way too. I have one GS and am hoping for a girl also. I would like to do a pink quilt. My daughter isn't due until late April so it will be a while until we know the sex. My Son and DIL said they are going to try to make a baby soon. My son is blond haired with blue eyes and his wife is Japanese. Should make a very pretty baby.
I called in sick today, because I can. I plan on sewing pretty much all day. I do have to do a little cleaning since my daughter, SIL, and grandson will be staying here this weekend. Too much stuff laying around for a 2 year old to be in the house.
I am going to make the breakfast cookies right now since I have 2 dying bananas on the kitchen counter.

lauriejo 10-05-2012 04:21 AM

Geez I've been to the grocery store like three times and forgotten to get oatmeal. What a ditz. I think I can get a gold star for the no fried foods, I seem to have lost my taste for fried foods.

meanmom I hope you enjoy your sick day today, we all need a day for our mental health every now and again.

Cindy I will keep my fingers crossed til you have that job for sure! Gosh I haven't made beef stew in ages, that does sound yummy. I'm thinking of chili tonight.

Oh Christine good luck with giving up the pop, I did once for a few months (ulcer diet) but since then the longest I've gone is three days.

So many grandbabies, I may need to borrow one since it will be awhile for me. Now if you ladies want to make a pink quilt I will be more than happy to take it off your hands! :D

Last month I lost 4 pounds, so this month my goal is to lose at least 5 so I better get out and move.

Pam H 10-05-2012 06:14 AM

Oh dear, Kathleen! How terrible! I hope you heal quickly and get back to sewing and cooking and whatever else you like to do. I hope you have some good friends and neighbors who can help you out with meals for a while. My neighbor/friend broke her elbow this summer. I offered to come and cut fabric for her when she was ready to quilt again but she hasn't taken me up on it yet.
Meanmom, enjoy your day off. Try giving yourself just 1 hour to get the house picked up. I bet you can do it! Then you will have the rest of the day for your quilting.
The kitten didn't come back to eat the tuna last night. I hope he finds a nice warm home. It can be pretty dangerous around here for a kitten with the foxes and opossums and who knows what else out in these woods.
I think I will make a trip to the LQS today to see if she can help me with putting these Celtic blocks together. The instructions aren't the best.

meanmom 10-05-2012 08:17 AM

I am trying to enjoy my sick day. One of the reasons I took it was to fill out job applications. I have been doing it in the evening but it is hard to concentrate like I need to when tired and with constant interruption from my DH and DS. I just did an online test for one application that also had a time limit. My DH kept interrupting.(I don't know why he is home) He is self employed so he can take off when he wants. I finally had to tell him(more than once) to leave alone so I didn't flunk. I am pretty sure I got them all correct except for one. It was a figuring out a pattern question. There were several that I got but one of them I just couldn't figure out. The pattern was A,Z,E,B,I,Y,O what comes next????? I just wasn't seeing it. It was also a personality test. UGGGGG! It is all finished with my resume etc attached.
Cindy I sure hope your job comes thru. I am praying for you. Well I did a little cleaning. I am going to spend the rest of the day hiding in my sewing room.

irishrose 10-05-2012 08:38 AM

C,O,X would be my guess. The B threw me off. Enjoy your day.

Kathleen, I'm so sorry about your arm. Is it far enough down not to interfere with the joint? Doing it while you were doing something good for yourself makes it harder to take. Take it easy.

I'm way behind, so I'll post more later.

Laurie, I kept forgetting something when I go to the natural food store and right now I don't know what it is- that's really bad. Congrats on last month's loss.

quiltingcrazy 10-05-2012 09:07 AM

Well, it is five days into the contest and I think I have stayed the same. I need to step-it-up if I want to be a "contender". I need to get more excercise without having to join a gym. Anyone out there want to share how they go about getting sufficient exercise to "step it up a notch". Thanks for your help!

irishrose 10-05-2012 10:07 AM

TV exercise programs, DVDs, interval walking - walk normally for 1 minute, then walk fast (or run if that's your thing) for 1 minute, fidget. The interval walking is surprisingly effective. I was going to say videos, but I may the only one with a DVD player. Put on music and move when the mood hits you - doesn't have to continuous. Dance like no one is watching. One of the 'rest' pads at Curves says, 'Do the Twist'. Another blast from the past. I was kicked out of a high school dance for my Twist. We just having a contest to see who could go the lowest. With my limber body, I won and my prize was being sent home.

Have you ever been hit by a flying high top tennis shoe...by a six foot adult. Or hit square in the middle of the back with a fist ..... oh the hardest one is hair pulling.... or bit so close to the nipple it wasn't even funny. I worked in a group home for adult with mental retardation. I loved the job but I hurt my back and that was the end of the story. Oh the one that bit could bite through a leather jacket ....he also bit my arm and had to have a tetnus shot.... as you know by now I can't spell but just pretend you know what I am saying..LOL LOL

Jim's Gem 10-05-2012 12:14 PM

I'm so sorry you fell and hurt yourself Kathleen. NO FUN

I have a new grandbaby due at Christmas. They didn't want to know this time. They also have a little boy, Isaac, who is almost 17 mos. I also have a grand daughter that's 9 mos tomorrow. I will take anything!!!

I have quilted most of my Pineapple quilt but ran out of my thread. I found another spool and as soon as I finish my lunch I am going to finish quilting that puppy and get the binding sewn on. I want to show that quilt and my X-blocks quilt at guild meeting Tuesday. The x-blocks just needs the hand sewing of the back of the binding to finish.

This weekend is our UFO weekend at church. So at 5:00 I will haul my sewing machine and some projects to the church. I will probably work until 11 tonight and then will head over from 9:30 to 3 tomorrow.

I had wanted to go to the Harvest Festival at our Fairgrounds today, but after just hitting one quilt shop, one sporting goods shop, and Cost Plus, yesterday, I decided that if my foot hurt with that little bit of walking, I would not be able to make it thru the Festival today. I sure am looking forward to someday being able to walk "normal" again!!!!

irishrose 10-05-2012 01:06 PM

Geez, Pam, the worst I ever had was a second grader slapping my hand when I reached for his pencil. It resulted in a meeting with the principal and his parents before he was allowed back in my class. My middle daughter worked in the mental unit in a nursing home for a while. That was a bruising experience.

The sun is going away. So much for working outside.

meanmom 10-05-2012 02:16 PM

Well I didn't get to make the cookies today. I smooshed the bananas and went to get the oatmeal out of the closet. There was only about 1/2 cup left. So I made pumpkin- zucchini bread and used the banana instead of oil in the recipe. I usually use applesauce but bananas work fine. You can smell the bananas when it is baking but I can't taste it in the bread.
I spent the majority of my day off filling out job applications. OMG some of them are a pain. Not too confident about my chances. I think most of them are for inside transfers. Oh well now they have my application on file.
I finally started FMQ a baby quilt that has been sitting here for a month waiting to be quilted. I couldn't decide what to do. So far I have done some stippling in one part and am echo quilting around my owls. I am just making it up as I go along. The recipient doesn't sew so will love whatever I do to it.
It was 80 yesterday ad this morning. The temperature is dropping rapidly. I had the windows open. It is supposed to be 30 on Sunday. I might end up with a real sinus infection if this keeps up.

Pam H 10-05-2012 02:51 PM

Can anyone in this group help me with a problem I am having? It is on partial seams. No one has replied yet to my request on the board. Hopefully I can figure out how to post a link.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t202397.html

lauriejo 10-05-2012 03:03 PM

I can't help with the block, but it sure does look cool. You do have a couple of links to check out now.

I think I am going to try that intervals in my walking, maybe that will help. I really need to also walk more consistently. If I get a regular routine now while the weather is decent, I think it will help me maintain it when the weather gets yucky.

irishrose 10-05-2012 04:01 PM

Lauriejo, truth be known, I don't make a minute with the speed up, but I can still feel the effects. I have getting back to it now with cooler weather here and the humidity down. I'm telling you, get a dog. Liliana yodels when it's time for a walk and the Moira grabs a squeaky top and races through the house. Lily is a PSD. My prescription says "GET A DOG" on huge letters on a script pad. I don't think she could pass the Canine Good Citizen test because one criteria is the dog has to sit for at least two minutes while you leave the room. That would be hard for her, but she doesn't need to pass.

Pam, I'm glad MTS showed up with the tutorial. My very first quilt was a partial seamed one, but I'd have to go to the library to look at M' lisa Rae Hawley's book to see how I did it. It didn't seem as complicated as those directions, but I can't be sure. I think the library closes early on Friday. I like the block. Would it look Celtic done as a single block in the right colors? I need something to replace the SW decor in the far hallway. Either a block like that or a hand appliqued rose????

Lawn repaired, dogs walked, now just me, my cluttered house and my quilt. I wouldn't be surprised if #4 daughter shows up. Tonight is Homecoming and she took it off to take her boys. I predict she and the young one won't make it. The stadium sits on the edge of the lake and the wind off the lake is chilly and damp tonight.

Went t the LQS. The brown I brought home for the quilt isn't the same color as what I already have. Grr. Looked at pink fabrics, but I will wait until after the ultrasound which has been put off. The GD that was on bedrest is up. Her blood pressure is perfect and everything else checks out. The little one must have moved just right. The store had a pink with multicolored dots in clearance, but it was a bluer pink that I like. Tempting, though, with fabric going up and up.

I looked up my quilt. Some pattern for a first quilt, but looking at it didn't help me remember how to do it.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...ed-t77701.html

Here you go. This looks familiar. Think of the pieces blocks as a solid piece and go for it. The little guy goes on first with the partial seam. That's where the tute above threw me.

how's the dieting going this week for everyone? geesh, on FB choc recipes jump out at me all the time, and you ladies talk about baking lots. I can't even have that stuff around. and i am struggling with just eating my allowed 3 meals a day with a fruit for a snack in between. watermelon season is over, but hubby came home with a mini one today.
the only thing that helps with these cravings is to go to the basement to sew, and just get out of the upstairs where the food is. a daughter has a birthday coming up, and she suggested another twin quilt for her son's BD as 'her' gift would be nice.
pam, i'll check out your question on partial seams. they are really easy. it just means, you sew part way, and don't sew the rest until you get the next 'portion, or block done and ready to attach.'
i got to practice all kinds of new stuff with the jane i stumbled thru.

I stumbled through and got my first 4 blocks done. I sewed and ripped and sewed and ripped I don't know how many times. There was nothing easy about it. There are just so many seams that need to be going the right direction. Hopefully it will get easier as I go along.
Irish, I can't believe that was your first quilt. Wow! Very nice job! I don't know if I would have stuck with it if I had done one that hard for my first.
Hubby just got home for the weekend so we just had dinner. There is so much work to do in this house with all the boxes to unpack. I don't know what we are going to do with all this stuff.
Something ate the tuna in the dish on the front porch this afternoon. I don't know if it was the kitten or not.

I had to laugh at the something ate the tuna - around here it could be a coyote or a bear.

If you have four blocks done, you are 1/3 done. You have to remember I come from a long background of apparel sewing. When the Prayers and Squares Coordinator asked me to be one of the 12 quilt makers just as my doctor took my fun of substitute para pro-ing away from me, it was a window opening. I jumped in and didn't look back. I didn't find out until much later that partial seams were considered difficult. Apparently M Hawley gives good instructions. There are other quilts in her FQ books that I want to try if I ever get caught up with the 'have to' ones. I think figuring out how to lay that one out on the diagonal was the hardest part. It's so much easier with a design wall rather than the LR floor. That and the color - I don't like blue and particularly Country Blue. Thank goodness for the burgundy and the print from WalMart.

I need to jumpstart a weight loss. Vegetarian for a few days? An icky drink concoction?

The pain clinic that did the steroid injections in my SI joints in my back is one of the four in the state to receive the meningitis tainted steroids. I will probably be getting a phone call Monday.

I finished my chicken/rice soup and a butternut squash for dinner. For some reason, I'm not hungry tonight. Usually this is my 'starving' time. Maybe I need a squash every evening.

To the farm market tomorrow. I want a cauliflower and I saw some Jonagold apples there one day. I have a friend who likes them like I like Michigan McIntoshes, so I will get him some.

I am losing weight and getting healthier.

Irish, sorry. 'jump starting' a diet never, never works for me. i just have to take it one meal at a time, and one impulse at a time. like an alcholic.
oatmeal and 1/2 C. skim milk for breakfast. sometimes a fruit, or tomatoe juice, and black coffee.
lunch, lean meat about 4 oz. and a carb free veg.(up to two cups.)
dinner the same thing. i occasionally throw in a bread or carb. no sugar, if i can help it.
lite greek yogart, diet jello, or a fresh fruit for in between meal snack. I follow this to the best of my ablility. once a week i may allow my self a very small dessert.
all this being said, now i will confess and say, i don't think i am going to lose anything this week, because i have just been eating toooo much of the right stuff this week.
