We don't watch the news on TV or any of the tv rags, I scan the newspaper. Have you ever noticed good news doesn't sell? So, I just sit and sew, listen to my audiobooks. If I watch tv it is Survivor (Who wants to know anything about Tiger or Jesse when we know all about Russell and Rupert (If you watch, you know who I am talking about!), or the cooking shows, Project Runway, Top Chef. That's my kind of TV. I don't like the stupid comedy shows, the cop shows are violent and the language they use that used to make my cheeks red when we first got cable is now on broadcast tv. I say - WHO CARES? I do, because this is giving the young kids a magnified version of life and they think it is true to life - It's not! True to life is us! Edie

I hate to turn on the news in the morning and hear all that crap! I want to hear news not about peoples personals lives!

What, you choose entertainment TV over quilting, for shame.

vjengels 04-01-2010 05:09 AM

Okay, don't hate me for my opinion, it may not be popular...
But, this is 2010, not 1950, no, I'm not saying what they did was right; what I'm saying is it should be something that's handled between them their family, and the other person(s) involved. Why does the media think that the public needs to weigh in on whether someone apologized properly in a public forum. they are grown men, with grown up wives, and it's their business. it was the media that built up Tiger Woods to be this perfect person... no one gave a hoot about what Jesse James was doing in his daily life until this story broke, now he can't drive down the street without there being some confrontation... oh, and let's not forget, there were women that participated , there's no way they didn't know these 2 were married.Leave them both alone

Heaven forfend I would put tv over quilting. When I am all done for the evening, pj's are on, husband is watching tv in bed, dog is nestled on the couch, house is locked up, shades drawn, I will turn on the tv and watch a little tv and fall asleep. That is what I call my total wipeout time! Then I go to bed. Oh, hey, take it back! On Tuesday and Thursday AM - 7:00, I watch Fons and Porter's quilting show. Need I say more? Edie

Count me in. They need to learn that when you get married you are bound to that person for life.

Both! We have 4 different quilting programs on Saturdays, and then there's NOVA, Discovery Channel. Don' YOU have a tv in your sewing room?? I do - does anyone else here?

It sells papers and magazines - there MUST be TONS of media that are depending for smut and dirt to keep a job. I agree with you but it IS being forced down our throats - why? because alot of people do NOT get fulfillment in their lives, I would expect.

fktsewing 04-01-2010 09:11 AM

DEFINITELY tired of hearing about it. These men blew it,were caught and suffered the embarassment and consequences---now it is up to their wives to take over, and I am sure both these ladies would just like all the press to go away. It has to be hard enought on them without all the media attention. God bless you Elin and Sandra, you both deserve better.

dixiechunk 04-01-2010 09:18 AM

Oh yeah, my hand is raised as high as it can be raised.

Strange you should ask that! We had some ice buildup damage and the adjuster came out and did her thing and referred to THE room as the sewing room. Why? Because she is a quilter also and that's what she called it!!!!!!! I called her and explained that not only is this the sewing room, computer room, Christmas tree room, tV room, but it is the room where we entertain and eat our dinner. The living room is where the dog sleeps. So she put down Sewing Room! So, question? Yes we have a tv in the sewing room. My back is to the tv, but my front is to the front yard, so I don't watch or listen when I am sewing. I do listen to audio books though! Edie

Quilter2B 04-01-2010 09:44 AM

Count me in there to! I don't watch that much TV but i do listen to KLOS out of LA. I'm not sure which cell service provider it is but they have a commercial that uses his "i'm truly sorry" in it. I'm so tired of all the drama - don't we have enough in our own lives? Get on with it for petes sake!

DianD 04-01-2010 10:02 AM

Good Grief!!! You'd think that they were the only two men to even think with something other than their brain!!! And while we're at it, let's banish Jon and Kate and the OctoMom from the news, oh, and the "f-bomb!" I know!....Let's vote them all OFF the Island!

MelissaK 04-01-2010 10:23 AM

Me! Me! I'm tired of all of it! When was the last time we heard about all those poor troops overseas?!?!

Debra Mc 04-01-2010 11:32 AM

Another point. I'm not gonna quit buying Tiger drink because he can't keep Mr Johnson at home. I never bought it anyway. Seems like when your a celebrity you can't even spit without some media freak making a big deal out of it. Tiger learned his ways from his daddy but we don't really need to know about all this. I think the night he had the wreck, Elin beat the crap out of him with the golf club. I still can't see why a lady like Sandra Bullock would marry a scum bag toady like J.J. but I guess love is blind. Sick world we live in. In the good ole days somebody's daddy & brothers would take them out back to the woodshed & handle the problem.

I wonder about those shows. I don't watch reality TV.

BellaBoo 04-01-2010 03:48 PM

There is no way not to hear about the celebrity in our society unless you live without any media at all.

Jumping up and down with both hands waving wildly in the air!!
Sick of it and them!

I listen to a war centered radio program on Sundays. It's hard to get war news with a boots on the ground perspective so I try to listen every week.

But, boy, the news breaks are annoying! If it's not celeb affairs, it's overdoses or trumped up controversies over the stupid things they say. I always shut off the *every half hour* radio news break. What a load of dung.

littlehud 04-03-2010 07:10 PM

My arm is up and waving.

Charlee 04-03-2010 07:17 PM

Too many people fail to "tend to their own knittin'"...failure to remember where his bed is and who is supposed to be in it doesn't make Tiger a bad golfer...bad husband? Yes...but he's still a good golfer.
Just like failure to keep his pants on didn't make Bill Clinton a bad president. To keep myself out of political "no-no" hot water, other things might have made him a bad president, or might have made him a good president...but Monica had nothing to do with it!

S'all none of my business...what those men do or don't do should be between them, their wives and their other women...I'd be mortified if my hubby had an affair and it got broadcast around the neighborhood....let alone the country!

Not to change the subject, but I love the block design on your avatar. What is the name of it????? Thanks! Edie

I'm sick of it too. I could care less...it's between the people involved...the media should give it a rest! What's wrong with this world that everyone is so into sex scandals??????

charvan 04-09-2010 04:38 AM

Sick, sick, sick of it all! Wouldn't you think they might learn from someone else's mistakes or are they just plain stupid? We all know, you can't fix stupid. So tired of it all.

Edie 04-09-2010 06:37 AM

I watched the Masters yesterday. Tiger was great, he had a smile on his face and the people had a smile on their faces - they were glad he was back. If all of this comes out for the positive and Tiger has learned a lesson (not helped at all by his father who was an adulterer too)and the children learn that you can learn from your mistakes and be forgiven, and it does seem that the press is at the point now where their 15 minutes of fame has gone down the tubes, maybe we can get back to nermal!!!!!! (Normal) and know that the world is not going to come to an end and the sun WILL come up tomorrow. So, we put Tiger's sin behind us (because that is between, God, his wife and him, none of us) and we go on enjoying his stupendous golf. That's all! Edie

Debra Mc 04-09-2010 06:47 AM

The news said they gave him a hero's welcome. For what being a piece of trash. We need to redefine the word hero.
