montanaquilter 03-13-2010 06:28 PM

well.....maybe the original owner ruined the sewing machine and so he made good use of the stand!! hope they really didn't take a good machine off that thing to put a man's tool on it!!!HAHA.

Man's tools...LOL

Maride 03-13-2010 07:22 PM

DH would definitely had done that.

cjomomma 03-13-2010 08:02 PM

I was shocked then I giggled cause my father would do something like that.

MadQuilter 03-13-2010 08:18 PM

reminds me of the day DH had dismantled a computer on my sewing table. all the fabric was pushed aside.

CAROLJ 03-13-2010 08:20 PM

:)

joeyoz 03-13-2010 08:48 PM

OK.. that is just wrong.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 03-13-2010 08:56 PM

I hope Billy doesn't see this! He'll have a heart attack. Or maybe a fit. He might even go looking for the guy that did that to a treadle.

wvdek 03-13-2010 09:10 PM

Oh geesh, and some of us are dying to own one along with the sewing machine of course.

Oh well, better than a damp musty basement or the dump.

I know, now I own 2 of them.
And I am so lucky my husbands grinder is securely bolted to the workbench. :P

amma 03-14-2010 12:33 AM

 Say it isn't so
That is just wrong...wrong...wrong...

tlrnhi 03-14-2010 01:47 AM

That person should be shot!

marsye 03-14-2010 04:14 AM

OMG!! LOL

grammyp 03-14-2010 06:23 AM

That is just WRONG! Please rescue that poor cabinet from it's life of shame. The least they could have done was require the treadle to be used to run the durn thing.

Boston1954 03-14-2010 06:45 AM

Tear my heart out. What in the world did they do with the machine that was SUPPOSED to be there?

Chele 03-14-2010 06:54 AM

That ain't right!

kwhite 03-14-2010 07:23 AM

This is what was on my last machine base too. I guess it is a common occurrence.

Shemjo 03-14-2010 07:43 AM

Blasphemy!

Lisa773 03-16-2010 02:38 AM

My husband's Grandma has two of these tables (with the machines, I might add). I would give just about anything to have one. I just have to keep certain people from trying to sell them someday! I can hope, can't I?
My sewing table is a piece of wood on top of a vintage sewing stand like yours. The top piece is dated from the late 1800's or early 1900's, I think, and is stamped with the name of a casket company. We believe it was a casket crate. Kind of morbid, but cool at the same time. I love it.

Jingle 03-16-2010 09:19 AM

I second that !!! String him up !!!

GrammaNan 03-16-2010 09:24 AM

LOL! I have an empty singer sewing machine base in my basement and my son is using it for his lathe. I love creative people. My son gets mad at me when I go to the leather store with him and by tools to use for quilting. This picture is hilarious.

Olivia's Grammy 03-16-2010 10:03 AM

Let's go rip his .....................................cabinet out. I have such a love for treadles that I hate to see them abused.

brushandthimble 03-16-2010 10:06 AM

what a shame:(

quilterj 03-16-2010 03:57 PM

Oh my Gosh!!! What were they thinking?

Ohhhh this is sad! :-(

quiltingbee12 03-16-2010 07:58 PM

It almost looks like that machine is still there - I think I see some of the decals.
Not letting that happen to any of mine!!

zz-pd 03-16-2010 08:49 PM

Oh man I would go rescue it. Penny

k3n 03-17-2010 01:34 AM

Oh nooooo!!! Nearly made me cry! Like someone else said, I hope they didn't rip a perfectly good machine off of there!

GladGrams 03-17-2010 04:18 AM

You would hope he was embarrassed!

reneebobby 03-17-2010 04:21 AM

OOPS

Quilting Aggi 03-17-2010 07:41 AM

See the real horror of it all is that they could have sawed the head off and just left the base of the machine.

If anyone living in the Denver area is interested I have a "fixer" up that I could sell. But not to the guy that massacred this one!!

I have punched people in the mouth for less than this!!

They unbolted the arm of the machine and bolted the grinder onto the base. I am guessing that he can still use the drop head feature and store his grinder but this is not right......

The least the moron could do is make the grinder treadle operated.

Billy

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 03-17-2010 09:36 AM

I knew Billy would freak! :D
