I was rubbing my eyes and dislodged the cornea lens that was inserted when I had the cataract surgery. I'm waiting for the doctor to call me back so I thought I would come on board to distract me from the crisis.

Good morning to everyone. I hope you've all had your coffee by now. I also hope you're not all gone about your business!

Murphy 12-16-2010 07:59 AM

Oops. I am sure the Dr. will be able to fix this soon. I hate it when this type of thing happens. Relax and soon all will be well.

MinnieKat 12-16-2010 08:03 AM

Yikes!!! I didn't know it would be possible to do that!

Wow! I didn't know that either! I had 1 eye done 3 years ago and the 2nd eye done 3 months ago - I guess I had better be careful! Let us know how you are & what they do.

bjnicholson 12-16-2010 08:37 AM

OK...update here. I have an appt w/dr tomorrow. The tech I talked to said it's impossible to dislodge the implant, but the dr will look at it just to be sure. In the meantime the tech said it might be mucous, so I'm going to use some special drops that he gave me to see if I can clear it up.

I'll let you know tomorrow after I see him. Crossing my fingers and toes!!!

pab 12-16-2010 08:40 AM

granniebj 12-16-2010 09:33 AM

Hope the Dr. can fix it quickly for you! prayers!

Born2Sew 12-16-2010 09:37 AM

Oh my goodness. Hope the drops work for you. If your eyes itch alot, you might ask about eye drops to use on a regular basis. I know they told me not to rub my eyes since my surgery. I can't help it, they itch, alot! Please
keep us informed of your outcome. Hope all goes well for you.

pab: Actually, he didn't need to use stitches. He used a new method which only make a minute slit and then inserts a syring-type needle and emulsifies the catact, sucks it out and inserts the new implant. I was awake through both operations and never had a problem.

AgapeStitches 12-16-2010 10:21 AM

After my cataract surgery 11 years ago, my doctor said to be gentle when rubbing my eyes. I've always practiced that and have never had a problem.

j 12-17-2010 06:45 AM

After my eye ops the dr told me do not rub your eyes at all. Which is hard to do sometimes. Told me to use eye drops if they feel itchy. I wore glasses for years and after the cataract surgery on both of my eyes, I havent had to wear glasses at all. It is so nice. I am sure this will require you to have a slight operation again, I just hope it is not extremely serious. - J.

NUTMEG10 12-17-2010 03:49 PM

Good luck. I have had both eyes done and they told me at the time to not rub my eyes at all. I guess there is a reason why. I am very careful even when I wash my eye area. I hope everything works out for you.

I had 1 eye done this same way, was never told not to rub my eye though. Guess I'd better stop. Good luck with yours.

I had mine done about 3 years ago the same way, I think, because I did not have stitches. And they told us at the time that a problem could arise with the plastic that holds the lens in until it attaches. And over the past year and a half I have been losing vision. I even got glasses. It got so bad by last month, I could not read the computer, everything looked faded. I had my right eye done about 2 weeks ago and the world opened up, I can see. I hope to have the other eye done after Xmas. It is a 5 minute procedure, the dr. uses a laser to burn it off. No pain. During this same time I had itching also, it was from dryness. Just something to be aware of, I am told it does not happen to every one.

jojosnana 12-17-2010 06:02 PM

Hope the drops work and the doc visit is all good news. Let us know the results.

jellyrollnut 12-17-2010 07:24 PM

I actually did not know that could happen, kind of scary. Have to tell my friend to not rub her eyes.

katcincinnati 12-17-2010 07:25 PM

Prayers are with you.

Pins n' Ndls 12-17-2010 07:53 PM

Dr. never told me anything about rubbing my eye after my cataract surgery! Live and learn. So glad I found the people on this board, wonderful people. Now I have macro retinal aneurysm in my left eye. Had a procedure done 6 weeks ago and had it again last week. Back in 5 weeks for checkup and will possibly have to do the laser. Procedure consisted of an injection ( medicine ) directly into my eye. Awake all through it , Wasn't bad at all. Uncomfortable for a day or two after.

bjnicholson 12-17-2010 08:53 PM

Sorry I didn't back to you. I was (guess what?) sewing all day!! My eye cleared up last night before I went to bed and when I got up it was all gone! Whew :!: :!: I cancelled my appointment and chastised myself heartedly
