Olive Oil has a very distinctive taste - I wouldn't call it rancid but it is different. I always use Bertolli Extra Virgin olive oil. I use it for everything now.

I just read this a.m. that olive oil helps reduce heart attacks. Another reason to use it.

Please return it.

When you buy Olive Oil be sure to buy Virgin and First Cold Press. This oil is fragrant but does not smell old. It is light and you can use it directly on veges or salad. My sister was married to a Italian and she is about the best Italian cook I know and we are of American Indian and Jewish decent! If she tells me anything about olive oil or good wine I listen to her.

If olive oil is old and you don't want to use it for food, it can be used to polish stainless steel appliances!

Keep it around in case you get pine pitch in your hair! Works great as I found out a couple of weeks ago.

Hi well living in Spain we all use Extra Virgin Oil or Olive Oil. Definately shouldn´t taste rancid.

Just went down to smell the oil and it has no smell at all so something wrong if it smells funny as well. the ones here are pale golden green colour and extremely good for you, better than all that butter and fat to cook with.

Just saw your note about "rancid" olive oil, if you've never used it before how do you know it's rancid? Have someone taste test it for you. if you use a quality brand there shouldn't be a problem returning it to the store.

olive oil has its own distinct flavor. when I first tried it I didn't think I would like it, although some people love it. I have gotten used to it now as I use only olive oil because of mine and my husbands heart.

Hi,

Return it, any oil can turn rancid. You will enjoy it, just it burns at a lower temperature than say corn oil.

I like to cut potatoes for fries, put them in a plastic bag 2-3 tablespoons of oil, garlic salt, pepper and herb you like and bake till brown. Yum
