When the little girls learned how to take their sleepers and PJ's off last winter, my daughter would use safety pins to keep their things on, and ended up having to then pin the sleepers on the inside when they could get the pins off if they were pined on the outside of their sleepers. Now they can dress themselves, so if they get cold, they can put clothes back on.
Her older 2 didn't do things like these two do, it's kind of like 'monkey see, monkey do!' But twins are a lot of fun!

Bought a toilet, put him on it...and the crying started. My neighbor heard him crying and came to make sure the baby was ok. Ugh!!!

Winkee 08-30-2011 03:25 PM

Hahaha, sorry that is funny! Gotta love those baby boys!

teacherbailey 08-30-2011 04:00 PM

Please remember all of these stories and tell your son when HIS son starts doing "boys will be boys" type things. One of the joys of being a grandma is that I can tease my son about his goofy things he did....but these days I do it on Facebook for the world to see! (His friends love it and tease him mercilessly and he snickers and enjoys the attention from mom, at age 27 and 1200 miles away, stationed in TX with the Air Force!)

miriam 08-30-2011 04:16 PM

When my oldest was 3 or so my mom tried her hand at potty training him. She taught him to say all the big words. Like Bowel Movement. Yeah. It struck something with him. So we are at mom's and she is so proud. He is in the bathroom with the door open. He's yelling, "One. Two. Three. BA-BOOM!!!!!!" (repeats) So he comes out of that bathroom and I say, "What were you doing?" He innocently says, "I was having a BOMB Movement." What ever works.

CactusFlower 08-30-2011 05:22 PM

Relax!! My granddaughter told me she went in to pick up her son one morning not long ago & he was sitting there with his dirty diaper sitting on his head. Well the little sweetie grinned at her & put out his arms to be picked up as usual. lol

Ok...how much worse does it get???

Mine got a marker and colored "it". Lol.

my 14 month DGS seems to think his is a toy and keeps tryin to pull it off whenever he gets his diaper off. Makes me cringe every time I see him do it.

JayCee 08-30-2011 06:34 PM

After reading all this, I'm so grateful I had dau

Phannie1 08-30-2011 06:36 PM

You now have that "Blackmail" ammo. About the time of his first date, engagement party. etc... It's a wonderful time. Enjoy!

cheri stonespinner 08-30-2011 07:36 PM

Sounds like he's smart enough for potty training. Sit him on the pot every time some one else has to 'go' and when he get's up from sleeping. He'll see it's part of life and catch on quick. especially when he sees the results before they're flushed.

Pat G 08-30-2011 07:40 PM

Be grateful it was only "wee wee". Could have had more color & more solid if you get my drift.............LOL. You know you love him to pcs.

Cheshirecatquilter 08-30-2011 08:47 PM

It's all part of the plan.

My boy was 4 watching Dexter's laboratory and he decided to make his own experiment. he mixed pinto beans, acrylic paint, shampoo, conditioner, and a hair dye kit. Thank god he couldn't get to the bleach. He wasn't allowed to watch that show anymore. When he was 5 he took apart my kitchen chairs with a screwdriver. At 8 I found him hanging by his neck from his bunk bead rail. By the way, he survived. Yours will too. Enjoy them while they are young.

ROFLOL This brought back a memory from when our youngest boy was almost 2. It was Winter & we went to Colorado. Was just strolling down a Main St one evening looking at the window displays. Noticed sev people passing us snickering. Looked down and brat boy had just whipped it out of his pants & was peeing on the sidewalk near the bldg. I was mortified but can laugh now. He is 32 yrs now btw. I keep telling him & his fiance that I hope they have a Son as ornery as he was!!!! LOL

I have advanced and challenging little ones. I never found them hanging. Just a little step between you and disaster! Just keep your eyes on him. He has no idea that his brains can...leave it at that!

That is just too far! Please take care of them.

This thread was cute! I do not want to read about a life threatening problem. Please close it. I am a nurse and I see things that happen, even when the parents think they are vigilant.

miriam 08-31-2011 02:35 AM

My DGD was 2. We were at the Indianapolis Children's Museum. She had to go. My DD felt something warm on her leg. DGD slid her pants and diaper off and went. Right there in front of a display. The security guard merely pointed to the bathroom. He was laughing too hard. As soon as they were in the little room the staff was all over the little wet spot... They acted like it was an every day occurrence.

Slowly but surely .. 08-31-2011 02:41 AM

Happy coz I had two girls!! I did look after a little boy once and when I was changing him he decided he had to go in the middle of the change, at least it saved a fresh change! Can't wait til I have grandkids now! I don't nag my girls tho, have a pet duck and so love her company!

willis.debra 08-31-2011 05:46 PM

I guess I should have said he is grown now and has told me he used to slide thru where he got stuck all the time. Also he was holding himself up with his arms. NOT JUST BY HIS NECK.
Also, I don't appreciate the implication that I'm a bad mother because of a couple isolated incidents. You can't wrap your children in bubble wrap.

Ok...how much worse does it get???

Well, one morning my little early bird didn't crow at the usual time so I stayed in bed enjoying the unexpected sack time. All stayed quiet but I got up to start the day on tip-toe, dressed, etc. then went to peek in at the little darling. He was standing up, hanging on the the crib rail, bouncing and grinning. He, too, had removed his diaper or it slid off because of the heavy load. All had been quiet because little man had discovered- - - - - finger painting! The crib ends, the rails and himself, head, hair, face and body were smeared with pasty brown BM. GAG! GAG! GAG! that's me. Grin! Grin! Grin! that's him. So happy, so.....artistically stimulated?

Down the hall and run water in the tub. Back up the hall to pick up the child. Eww, GAG, GAG. I loosen the sheet and the mattress pad at the corners, pull them around the happy artist and tote him off to the waiting bath, which he also enjoyed. See what fun memories they make for us. :?

I have photo of him covered in brown. Thankfully he's sitting in his high chair practicing spoon skills with chocolate pudding with help from fingers.

You should know, that boy grown large is still quite artistic.

Janis 08-31-2011 07:25 PM

Greenheron, that is quite a story!! I can see it in my mind, but fortunately can't smell it. You have a gift of telling it so well. Have you told it to his friends?

birdgirl 08-31-2011 07:35 PM

About peeing all over the bathroom floor. Tell them gentlemen sit to pee so their women don't have to step in it. Or make the boy wipe up the floor around the toilet!

nancy59 08-31-2011 07:57 PM

When my daughter was 5 I caught her out in the yard with her friends and she had a "pony" can of beer. Remember those they were about 6 ounces. She loudly announced her dad bought her kid size beers and pulled the tab and was going to drink it before I caught her and took it away.

I think most of us understand that you are not a bad mother... stuff happens to the best of us... (I thought that implication was a bit harsh also and naive)... your son sounds as if he was very hands-on and curious about everything - along with testosterone you probably had your hands full... but with lots and lots of fun stories (now that he is grown)... I think you probably did a remarkable job ... now your son and you can have some very good laughs and you can relax a bit.

Annaleehunter 09-01-2011 08:10 PM

(I thought that implication was a bit harsh also and naive)

Hubby and I have 7 children. The last one was a girl... finally! With so many boys we are not naive! The 22 yo twins are productive and out of the nest. Oh, and non of them have surprised us with tickets, arrests, early grandchildren or anything else. We just chose to raise or children by protecting them and teaching them.

My post was coming from the fact that I am a NICU nurse and I focus on safety. I only had limited info. Happy her son had the audacity to hang on.

Out of all the boys, they are turning out great! We are truly proud parents in our upper 40's.

It takes so much these days to turn out a great kid. We are exhausted, but we will have a life after these last 2... we have 2 under 2.

cassie69emt 09-02-2011 02:36 PM

That means time to potty train him

Kimkankwilt 09-02-2011 02:51 PM

Now show him how to pee on the trees outside, and then in the toilet, and then SHAZAM....no more diapers :)
