It only took nine years.....

Nine years ago I bought a dining room set that I loved, but the upholstery on the seats was awful. (Some kind of heather look with brown, pink, and blue dots, made of polyester) to my eye, it made a very expensive Oak table and chairs look old and used. I searched for nine years to find just the right fabric to redo the seats. I wanted something to go with the burgundy and tan room decor. I looked everywhere. Imagine my surprise last month when I found the perfect fabric at St. Vinnies. Right colors, enough for job (3 yards, $6) and bonus, it is all cotton! I spent the day today with a friend and we redid all the chairs while I taught her how to do it. I did 3 1/2 chairs, she did 2 1/2 chairs, and I can't tell which ones are which, she did a great job! I finally have the dining set I wanted nine years ago. I am so happy today my cheeks hurt from smiling! Lol!
The first photo is the original fabric seats, next is the old and new together, then the new cotton fabric. I am in love with it now! Lighter color really "wakes up" the dark oak. (Please excuse the mess in the background, we are rearranging the house to accomodate DH's new walker.)

Very nice! Now make sure to get some teflon spray and give each one a good spray to preserve the seat covers good looks!

Is teflon spray and scotchgard the same thing? I did not think of this, so thank you. You have saved my new chairs.

You did a wonderful job! I agree with you - the chairs are beautiful but were all wrong with the original upholstery material. Now they are perfect.
