I am lucky to have a pretty large sewing studio but Now with my mega on a frame it is getting crowded. I have a very large living room with a wall of windows overlooking the river. I use the living room approx. One hour a night just a couple nights a week to watch a fav tv show, the rest of the time no one is ever in the living room. I have been thinking about converting said living room into a larger sewing studio and making the sewing area I have now into a smaller living room. We never have company so that would not be a problem. So what do you think? Stupid idea or not?

My dear friend has turned their living room into her quilting studio with a very large long arm in the middle of it. Their "living" room is now their family room adjacent to the kitchen.

I live alone and I use my living room to quilt. I just don't have a use for a living room anymore.

I say go for it. It's your home to use as you please. I'm thinking about dismantling my guest room to make room for my Grace frame, and putting a doorway thru to my sewing room. No guest room means any guests have to stay elsewhere!

We will be moving when my husband retires. I am sort of hoping for a house with a living room and a family room so that one of them can be my sewing room. Go for it. You'll be happier and the other room will be a nice tv room.

My family room has been converted into a combo quilting/scrapbooking room.

Do you have to please anyone but yourself? It sounds like a great idea to me.

It's your home, you pay/paid for it...do what YOU want!! I have a friend that has their longarm in their livingroom!!! When I bought this house, I saw no need for a family room set-up (wish I had it now!)....because when I had a familyroom, it seemed the only purpose for the livingroom was for me to go in and dust weekly!!!! You'll be using your square footage to it's FULL advantage!!!!

I really think I am going to do it after my October craft sale, no time now. I've been thinking about it for months. I'm always in my sewing room , BF spends his time in office with his computer and tv, DGS is in with me or in his room with his own tv. Looks like BF is going to have some furniture moving to do, LOL.

I have several friends who have turned their formal living room into sewing rooms. It works great ! Lots of room and you can still be in the hub ub of the house.
