i ordered a fat quarter selection of basic colors from CT and have them hanging in the closet with a pants hanger. Easy to pick out the color needed.

I organize the project I'm working on by hanging the fabric on a rolling clothes rack. This works great if you are doing paper piecing -- you just cut off a chunk of the fabric you need while you need it. I found smaller pieces fall off so I bought metal clips at Office Depot (that fit around the round plastic hanger bottom) to secure them.

I've got 28 plastic tubs full of fabric on shelves just on one side of my storage area and all my flannels, UFO's, and nonquilting fabric/craft on the other side.......don't think the hangers would work for me. Glad they do for some.

I hang some on hangers, but all my table clothes I hang on a hanger.

this is what I do to take out a particular fabric board....I use a file folder and cut it on the fold....I put one side to the left of the fabric choice and the other one on the right side then I can easily take out the fabric of choice and the fabric boards on either side of fab.of choice stay in place.

I would need 2 walk in closets if I tried to hang all of mine

Sounds like a great idea....

I have all my backings on hangers -- they hang from an extra rod in the 2nd bathroom. We never use that shower so it is a perfect place to hang those big pieces of fabric. The rest of my fabric is ruler folded and in drawers. |
