What?? She explained "I used all of them the first month." ?! I just had to ask her how. She told me " They held everything I needed, but after using each one, I threw them away" (because she heard that they were not very sanitary). It never occurred to her to wash them! We had a good laugh, and I made her 10 more, and put washing instructions on each of them!

What?? indeed. lol I thought you were going to write :"she sold them for pocket money"

the next thing she ought to learn is how to make some... lol

I piece them together with other fabric and use them for the backing. Sometimes they match the front blocks, sometimes they don't.

Our guild collected orphan blocks from members and then sorted them into kits (72) to make quilts for charity. Our donations went up this year. It was so successful we are doing it again.

Just read this thread cause I have a box of them and the same ? Love all your ideas- I think the shopping bags and FMQ practice is what I'm headed for. Thanks for the heads up about labels for washing them- so many of us have that "throwaway" mentality these days.

This thread is a wonderful example on what can be done with rejected blocks, sample blocks, orphan blocks.

I send mine to the Quilt Block Orphanage in the UK :) They use them for charity quilts.

Wonderful project! But isn't it sad that so many are needed!
