Just last week we had to put our beloved Magnolia to sleep. She was 14 and born in a barn at a friend's house. She was a long hair Calico and the best cat. She was a little afraid of people, but when it was quiet at night and just me and hubby she would love to sit on our laps. Over the years we got so many compliments on how pretty she was. I miss her so much. We have a 6 year old Sadie who was born blind and does very well around the house. She can sure find her food bowl !!!!

They are gorgeous! I just had to put my 19 yo tuxedo to sleep, and the grieving is hard. I'm so glad these 2 beauties found a loving home. Cats are just funny people! They have minds of their own!

Beautiful Kitties!

We have 3 feral cats that we care for. All have been fixed and given shots thanks to a wonderful organization here called Heaven Can Wait. HCW is part of a city wide program here in Las Vegas to help curb our huge feral population. They have volunteers that trap the ferals. The cats are then spayed or neutered, given their shots, groomed if needed and then returned to the area where they were trapped at. The cats all have their right ear tipped so the trappers can tell which cats have already been through the program. There are many "colony caretakers" around the city that feed the ferals, and trap if medical care is needed.
The female cat we call Mama lives on our patio and never leaves our back yard. She is very loving, will sit on our laps for pets every time we go outside. The 2 males only show up at the evening feeding time and leave after they have eaten. The males want nothing to do with people and go out of their way to stay very far away from us.

Animal Control here has a program for feral cats. I'm not sure if we have any others. I think they charge about $50 to spay or neuter and the shots are inexpensive. They also have a senior discount. I'm surprised at the number of people that have feral cats. I didn't think there would be that many.
