Just got off the computer, went into my kitchen and looked at the smooth top on my range. It is white and everything I cook leave a black spot. Because of pinched nerve in my neck I don't have much strength in my arms so I never get everything off. I thought this would be so easy to clean. I have tried everything at the stores. I give all my pots and pans extra scrubs, nothing makes it any easier. If you have a white smooth top cook range and have found an easy way to clean it, please let me know. I would be forever grateful

I have a white smooth top too and hate it for the very same reason. No matter how I clean my pots and pans there always are black smudges. WHO decided that a white stove top is a good idea??? I'll be watching for ideas on how to get it clean......

I have the smooth black one and it shows the marks just as bad. I just use the stove top cleaner that's made for it, but you could spend hours standing there & still not get every little spot off, especially if you happen to let the potatoes boil over!

have you tried LA Awesome??? It's at the Dollar stores - for $1.00 or so. It's strong! I used it full strength on my mother's stovetop, and let it set for a minute, then it wiped right up. I use it on EVERYTHING -- including clothes! Has gotten rid of spots that nothing else would lift off.

I have the gray smooth cooktop. It's a Maytag, bought at Sears. I will never buy another Maytag or anything from Sears again. I was assured the top would not have black marks, rings or discloration that would be permanent from cooking no matter what pot was used. . Ha, black marks appeared and are permanent. Maytag said the marks did not effect the workings of the stove so wouldn't honor the warranty, Sears wouldn't honor the in store warranty because it was cosmetic. The sales person even denied saying I would never have to worry about black marks. We have since bought all new appliances even washer and dryer and never set foot in a Sears store or never gave Maytag products a glance. I tell my warranty story when I see anyone looking at Maytag products.

Soft scrub works great I use that to get the gook off the top of the stove. I prefer the glass top over anything else either way, face it were going to have to clean up the messes.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will try the Dollar Store product and see if it works in conjunction with my 15 year old grandson who is 6'5" and is strong as an ox.

Sure wish I had read these comments before I bought this thing 2 years ago!
