something is rotten in Denmark
I have no idea why it would be in "Denmark" - maybe because the speaker was Norwegian or Swedish? |
there are a lot of phrases that use "other" words for urine and feces
|
Something rotten in the state of Denmark comes from Hamlet. Talking about how his father was murdered & all the bad goings on at the time. HA. I remembered senior english.
|
re Hamlet - ahhh - I've never read any Shakespeare - perhaps I should
if one has an "innie" - why is one's navel/umbilicus called a "belly button" ? |
Mama used to tell me,
"Lady born, Lady bred, dresses her feet and then her head" or "Pretty is as pretty does" My ex's mother would say, "I eat my peas with honey, done it all my life, makes the peas taste funny, but sticks em to my knife!" My dad had a few that were pretty crude... |
"if that don't beat all"
|
That is one that I use all of the time bearisgray LOL
|
DH uses this one: Well smear my a** with honey and tie me to an ant hill. Colorful imagery.
Another favorite: Butter my buns and call me biscuit. And he wonders why people don't take him seriously. |
