LOL - Unfortunately, with the snow falling out of the trees, we can't tell the prints from the snow bomb prints. I went back that way yesterday and looked......there IS a window on the neighbors garage back there....and the light might have reflected from our house.....but I kinda like the idea of BigFoot visiting.

Yes, I believe. Every day they find new species of animals.....you never know!!! After all, the West first learned of the Giant Panda in 1869!!! And that was in China...a country that has been inhabited for many many many more years than the US!

I live in south part of Bend and we get all sorts of creatures here. It could be a deer, a bobcat, an owl or a racoon. I vote for a racoon. I saw one in our back yard about a week ago and his eyes looked just like this. Living out in the woods like you do you will see all kinds of animals. Enjoy it. We live in God's country.

Merry Christmas

Looks like a cat to me. I don't blame you for not going out at night. It can be risky when there are so many places around to hide.

nena 12-21-2010 09:32 AM

Theres two spots to the left on tree beside it but they are one above the other, so it must be just light rays or something.

Be careful when you're outside & lock your doors when you're inside. One day last week there were bank robbers hiding in the woods near my house. Thank goodness they were caught before night.

catrancher 12-21-2010 10:17 AM

I'm guessing it's a deer.

clipper35 12-21-2010 10:18 AM

Beautiful picture but I don't blame you for not going out  I've spent some time in La Pine Or. its so pretty there, and its close to Sisters Or. Loved that.

oooohhh! were there any tracks?!????

Ritacarl 12-21-2010 11:30 AM

When I was in my early 20's I lived at home in Milaca, MN on my parents farm because my husband was in the Navy and he was out at sea. I was working nights at Fingerhut. As I turned off the main highway onto the gravel road my car quit. I had to walk 1 mile to the farm. Next to the gravel road was a woods. As I walked something walked with me in the woods. When I stopped it stopped. I could hear it crashing along among the trees. I figured it was a bear but whatever it was it was with me the full mile. I didn't dare run even tho I was mighty scared.

quilt3311 12-21-2010 02:58 PM

Were there any footprints? Tracks? Yikes, I would be staying inside.

theoldgraymare 12-21-2010 04:57 PM

That would have to be one heck of a big squirrel...

janetter 12-21-2010 05:26 PM

Cant say I blame you, not much of a night time person myself; but that is TRULY a beautiful picture!!! ( I do see eyes)

Jo Belmont 12-21-2010 05:40 PM

I'd put book on a deer. We live in the middle of the Adirondack forest and deer are regular visitors, especially around bird feeders, etc. They love the bird seed!

Except for the snow, I'd say to be careful because we also have black bear in our area, but not this time of year (they're hibernating). Gotta be a deer and they're really skitterish, so I don't think you need to worry too much about them overtaking you.

Turkeys, coons, etc. are also frequent visitors, but the height is right for a deer.

It's wonderful living in nature. I just try to remember that they were here first and we moved into their territory.

gbquilter 12-21-2010 05:50 PM

Eyes too far apaart for a squirrel and unless he's hanging on the end of a limb, it's too tall too. Maybe those are the eyes of an alien wondering what the heck is flashing back at him!

Dotsie 12-21-2010 06:05 PM

Nevermind the eyes......the cold.........bbbbbbrrrr. I don't want to offend but cold nights like that and funny eyes, I rather stay in bed.

If you look really close right in the middle you see eyes.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nope, I'm NOT going out there....he says it's a squirrel....but squirrels don't usually go out at night......... (the picture shows up much better on my computer -- but you can barely see them here).....I just had to share....LOL

As far as I am aware, the only animals with glowing eyes, is a cat. Judging from the level on the tree, I'd say a BIG cat. OOOPS! Did I say that out loud?

amandasgramma 12-21-2010 09:09 PM

Oh, madamekelly, most preditor's eyes reflect or "glow".

No footprints...but then the snow dropping from the trees would make it hard....

ROL -- DH just asked me if I was going out to shut off the lights in the shop ---- Uhhhh, NO! It's dark! and I'll pay the extra $.10 for the electricity!!!!!!! Sheesh, you'd think this man would figure it out by now!!!!

REALLY good point!!! I hadn't thought of that!!! Gee, and if I carry my camera, I might be able to make $$$$$$$ with the tabloids!!!! WOW - I could buy more fabric! I think I've changed my attitude about going out at night! thanks!

weenus 12-22-2010 11:02 AM

I live in the woods also. My husband says that Bigfoot doesn't exist. I tell him that the world will have all the proof it needs when the thing attacks me! I don't go out at night either:)

IBQUILTIN 12-22-2010 06:28 PM

drgranny 12-22-2010 11:44 PM

I married very young and had 2 babies close together. My DH
used to go to the bar often at nite and leave me out on the edge of town alone with the babies. One nite I heard sounds outside and it was so dark I couldn't see what was out there so I called him at the bar and told him I was scared. He came home and looked around. He came in the house laughing. There were 2 stray horses nosing around our garbage cans!
