pictures of my fur babies

1 Attachment(s)
I took this picture this morning. It is hard to get the four of them together at the same time.
The two big girls are Sadie and Lucy. I rescued them in 2005 and 2006 from a mountain in Tennessee.
They had been dumped there and left to die. They were very malnourished and in very bad health. I took them to the Vet and doctored them back to health. The two little boys are Schnauzers. I took them from a breeder that wanted to go out of town for the holidays and needed to get them a home.
The napkins are some I made for Christmas.

Awwwwww....... such contentedness!!!

nativetexan 01-13-2014 09:30 AM

I don't think I see the napkins, but your babies are gorgeous and have a great home. Good for you!!

needles3thread 01-13-2014 09:33 AM

I like the two sharing one bed.

Your family looks wonderful! My sister and her family went camping one time and was adopted by a German Shorthair. They were sure he belonged to someone so checked around until a ranger told them he had been around for a while and no one admitted to owning him. So my BIL said, "He's ours now." And they took care of him for many years. He was such a great dog, we couldn't believe anyone would leave him behind.

They are big into greyhound rescue so this was a no brainer.

You have been a great person taking on these fur babies.

Thanks for sharing.. I will smile all day thinking about your happy fuzzy ones! My big fuzzy one is a rescue !

love looking at our fur babies. Barb

dakotamaid 01-13-2014 10:48 AM

My kids adopt also, rescue is such a great way to save the unwanted. Bless you.

Jingle 01-13-2014 11:18 AM

Good for you to be so generous with your home. Great for them that you are. They are all beautiful and look so healthy and content.

Bueniebabe 01-13-2014 11:30 AM

love all your babies
my sister in law made a pad for my porch swing with out measuring. It is at this as seats in a boat. She works at Flexsteel Furniture. It is as long as all three dog beds and wider than a porch swing. We only have a min pin and rat terrier so they have lots of room. And she put a zipper in it so it can be washed.

Love looking at fur babies! Thanks for rescuing them. I rescued a shi Tzu about four years ago and still have him... He came into my home with a lot of mental baggage, but we are slowly getting to know each other, now that all the other fur babies have left us. Boo Hoo.

barri1 01-13-2014 04:44 PM

They are awesome.. I can't believe they are all taking a nap at the same time.. Better still, they are all napping in dog beds.. I guess I shouldn't complain.. My guy naps in the dog house under my desk..

Retired Fire Chief 01-14-2014 04:04 AM

How sweet, all in a row. Reminds me of my 5 but the beds are scattered all over the bedroom so we can at least get to the bed. I bet they give you more love than you can handle!

lovelyl 01-14-2014 04:45 AM

Bless you for rescuing those precious pups!

girlsfour 01-14-2014 06:29 AM

Both my rescues have a little mental baggage. Especially the brown one. If I pick up a newspaper or a stick she shakes and tries to hide. I have never hit her or even raised my voice to her but she still has issues even after all these years.

SouthPStitches 01-14-2014 07:55 AM

What a generous heart you have. They are very lucky dogs.

Chis2 01-14-2014 08:55 AM

Bless you for giving the babies a home. I'll bet they reward you every day with their love and comical antics. I have 3 dogs myself they are very special to me and entertain me all day long. I have a rescued greyhound. She was a racer. I also have 2chihuahuas

Kathy T. 01-14-2014 10:04 AM

Bless your heart for rescuing them ... love the one who lays sideways across the bed - my rescue does that!

JanieH 01-14-2014 11:37 AM

Truly a picture of blissful contentment! Love them!

Emma S 01-14-2014 11:53 AM

I have a rescue too, he is my constant companion. Had to laugh when I saw them all napping at the same time. I bet you managed to get all your kids asleep at the same time too.

fayeberry 01-14-2014 04:54 PM

God bless you forever for your kindness and compassion. And thank you for showing us the picture. There is surely a special place in heaven for you.

mimiof4 01-14-2014 05:49 PM

Painiacs 01-14-2014 06:54 PM

I had just adopted two little kids age 10 and 12. After Sunday School one day the teacher told me that the kids were wanting a dog, so the next morning on the way to the bank we saw the pound truck sitting at the police station across from the bank. In the back was a ???Schnauser/poodle black and white wired hairred dog. He saw us and sat down. He was scheduled to be put down that day. We would not let the pound person leave until she gave us that dog. We named him Bowser. The vet said he was a very old dog, but he lived another 8 years. What a great time we all had.

God Bless you and people like you. My friend that has a rescue in Chattanooga TN. has a slogan on her ad. It reads "Saving one dog won't make a difference in this world but it will make a world of difference to that one dog." How true this is.

mighty 01-15-2014 07:27 AM

They are so sweet!!!!

cherrio 01-15-2014 09:33 AM

haha yep, all 4 of my dogs nap at 3 PM daily. like clockwork. I think it is just because I used to sit down at 3 to watch General Hospital at that time. Now it comes on an hr earlier so they come in and sit with me but don't nap til 3 still. pups are the best!

They look very happy and contented. It boggles my mind how people can just drop off an animal, especially when there are shelters that would take them in. They are both very lucky that you found them and nursed them back to health. God bless you for giving them a home and love.

quilt9226 01-15-2014 11:28 AM

You can tell the heart of a person by how they show kindness to other living things. Love dogs and mine is a rescue. Thanks for rescuing your puppies.

Caswews 01-15-2014 11:58 AM

awww how precious .. My avatar is our rescue. My daughter is a foster mom for the Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue, she takes them in, evaluates them and then tries to find their forever home for the Gentle Giants.

Geri B 01-15-2014 04:25 PM

We live with two Weimaraners..gray labs...one blind, other just a bit abused. Both rescues by my daughter.....blind one was sighted until about two vet said, then became blind..a genetic thing..he was being trained for hunting we presume because he reacts instantly to commands. Gets around wonderfully...his paws are his eyes...he has crashed a few times, but nothing serious. When she went to see him..not told he was blind, but she knew instantly he was...he came right to her and sat down. Handler said he had not done that to anyone else...so he came home with her.....3yrs now..second is sighted, but was skittish although trained, but sad eyes.....he has been here less than a year now, is the blind ones "eyes" and he has just been certified as a therapy dog so now he has a "job". We also have three cats, and they each have a story........

We now have 2 rescues. We lost our elderly yorkies, litter sisters, one year apart. Sadie came first - a Coton de Tulear, and she'd been kept in a cage the first 2 years of her life (she was 4 when we got her). When she is anxious she circles like she used to in the cage, and when quite anxious (very seldom now, thank heaven), the circle is quite tight. She was scared of men - but its now been 21 months and her favorite person in the house is my DH -- she absolutely adores him. She helped our old yorkie at the end when her sight was failing - would wait for her to reach her coming out the dog door and lead her out to the yard. Second rescue arrived a couple of months after our last old yorkie died. She is a Silky Terrier named Bella, and I am thankful every day we don't have any trees in our back yard -- this breed will climb trees going after squirrels if there are limbs low enough. She has killed a huge rat out back (one bite - and it was dead) & got rid of moles that were tunneling out there, too. Hasn't gotten a bird or squirrel yet, but she will eventually as she's tenacious about hunting. We absolutely adore these two...they sleep right between us, under the covers most of the time. I cannot imagine my life without having dogs in it.

solstice3 01-16-2014 09:15 AM

They appear very happy with you

quiltmau 01-16-2014 09:42 AM

Rescue is best-we rescued the babies we have-the lab is gone now but we still have the kelpi-DH said I could get another in March-vet is looking as am I-PawSafe Rescue brings them up from the south to good home here in the northeast. Too many animals are left to die in shelters. Desexing is the way to go!

mjhaess 01-17-2014 08:13 AM

God Bless all you dog lovers and helpers.... You are all very special people that have earned a place in Heaven....

DOTTYMO 01-21-2014 12:45 AM

As I read these beautiful comments and lovely picture of your dogs, i have the youngest of my 3 at nearly 2 but looks 6 months licking my ear and resting on my shoulder telling me I haven't finished my coffee. I other words hurry up and drink it until I can have ago.

nancia 01-22-2014 09:02 PM

I've told this many times, but i soooo believe in it, rescue is the way to go! Spay/neuter! There is a place for registered breeds, but there needs to be a stop to the disposable pet/ animal mentality. They may not be people, but they have feelings, sensations and abilities. They have humour, sadness, fear and trust and joy, among others. They will love you unconditionally if you love them and care for them. They will lay down their lives for you. They are better friends than most people. They deserve to be treated with respect and care, kindness and love. I would be lost without my cats and dogs. I have tried living without and it doesn't work for me. I have an aged cat, sleeping inside the curve of my arm as i type this. He won't be with us for too much longer, and it will break my heart when he passes. But i know there is another cat that is waiting for his forever home and he will receive the love that simon has taught me to give. There is no replacement for a lost pet, but there is always another that needs and wants a forever home, and has love to give you in exchange.
