Happy to hear you are safe.
Enough storms for awhile, huh?

Rose L 04-26-2011 10:24 PM

Aww, Carrie, I feel for you, really I do. We had similar winds a couple of days ago and I lost a bunch of shingles off of my roof which is less than a year old (third time really). I could hear them slapping the side of my fifth wheel camper but there wasn't much I could do about it. I have a couple not so nice dents in the gel coat but realize it could have been sooo much worse. It makes me mad that I have to have the roof fixed AGAIN though!

Oh how terrible. I hope you can get your van fixed soon. So thankful you and your family are ok though

So glad you and your family are safe.
many prayers.

Thank goodness it's only auto damage. But the fabric? Oh no, don't sell it. Make things from it to sell, you'll get more for it. Quickly, make tote bags, key chains, some of those graduation presents which were listed here earlier this week. Call it a "storm sale". Revenue and occupational/mental therapy. Set up a booth in front of the complex, like a lemonade stand. If you sell it here, list it as storm sale items, to get our attention. All the best to you.

Here in Kentucky we can't seem to see the end of serious thunderstorms and tornado warnings. I will be glad to see this part of spring Sprung!

I feel for you!! I love my van, can't get along without it. See if you have glass coverage, sometimes you do even if you don't have comprehensive.

pipp5 04-27-2011 04:33 AM

Is it insured??? If so, there is no glass deductible in KY! I was so excited to find that out when my husband broke the back window out of my truck when loading something.

Carrie - soo sorry to hear about your van - we are like you - cant afford coverage so we carry liability only on our vehicles. We have 3 old cars Newest is 94! The full coverage wouldnt have helped us too much since there isnt even a blue book value on our cars lol

Hang in there and I am so happy you are all safe!!!

My SIL lives in Maryland Heights in MO Its very close to the airport (Lambert) which was hit by tornado and shut down for awhile. I called her and was so glad that it missed her and her daughter (who lives next door!!) It hit houses 6 blockds away and they had a gas leak in their neighborhood. Her SIL came home from his nite shift to find the eighborhood closed to all traffic and the officers told him to walk home - He literally ran home to thankfully find his wife and little girl safe and sound!!!

My SIL's school was closed and the faculty got together and went to the surrounding homes to help clear debris. She said it was sooo bad. All the homes were destroyed down to the subflooring! She said it made her think about her life and thankful that it missed them. These people lost everything they owned!!! What would you do and where would you go!!!

Thoughts to ponder!!!
